Outside of Cairo, an unidentified queen's tomb has been discovered with religious texts on the walls. They know she was Old Kingdom. This is more of the cool stuff coming out of Egypt. This is a French dig, and in this site they have discovered the remains of several poorly built pyramids and the tombs to several Old Kingdom queens. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100303/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_egypt_antiquities I wanna GO!!! Would you like to go see the ruins in Egypt?

I would love to spend my life going from ruins to ruins. Egypt is very interesting to me. I also have enjoyed lots of fiction with Egypt as a backdrop and a women as a heroine. I cannot remember the name of the writer, but I can go right to the shelf in the Library.

Bingo! Did you know she writes under another name as well. Then she reviews her books and quotes herself on the cover at least on one.

I would prefer to see the whole episode on TV than going there personally.

Oh, I'd love to go! I gotta say that there's no replacing actually being some place to let you have an idea of how they really felt about it

well, if you want to go on just any dig, you might investigate any colleges or universities in your area to see if they need volunteers for local digs

I have always wanted to go to Egypt and in my younger days I would have liked to study archeology. I knew all the Egyptian gods and myths and read everything I could about mummies and history of the country. No internet back then or I might be at a dig right now!

I had to take an anthro class to take archeology and I failed it the first time I took it - because of the car accident I'm sure...

I have an aunt who is Egyptian and I have heard so much about this place. I have never had the privilege of visiting. It would be amazing to see the pyramids built so precisely all those years ago. It would be absolutely amazing! The burial chamber of the ancient queen that was unearthed; wouldn’t you love to be the one to make such a discovery? Or to at least be there for it!

I would love to be there, I am good at finding pennies, but honestly, I could probably miss a cave if it isn't pointed out!

Oh yes! I've always been interested in ancient history. I loved learning about ancient Egypt, Greece and the Roman Empire. There is a part of me that feels "in another life" I might have been there during those times.

In a perfect world, yes, but I don't want to run into any terrorists or extremists and such, so I'll just do it vicariously through the 'net. Thanks for the link.

I know, I would go in a heart beat, but I would worry about terrorists, I guess if I figured it was my last chance (say I have cancer) I would go and not worry

Very cool. I'd love to go! But I'll probably settle for seeing the King Tut exhibit in San Francisco!

I really love to explore the wonders of Egypt, it seems that the tombs are very mysterious for me. I wish one day I could also visit one of there pyramids.

I think I would rather watch a documentary about it on TV. I am fascinated by any type of historical story. I have a disability, so I think anything that old would probably be next to impossible for me to see comfortably. I used to like to travel, but now that I am older, I just want to stay home. I hope you get to go someday and let us know how it is!

I am hurting from the fibro, and I doubt I'd ever get to go - besides the lack of $$ of course. I think a tour would get me to see the major stuff I'd like to see, the sad thing is that the new stuff isn't open to the public yet...

In a few years the stuff you would want to see may be open to the public. I went to Graceland a long time ago. At that time, you weren't allowed in the house, you could just tour the grounds. Now the house is open and I have heard it is very "interesting".

Not after learning about what they did to their pigs when the Swine Flu pandemic (epidemic, whatever lol) was ongoing. Their Animal Welfare standards are virtually non-existent and I know it's got nothing to do with the find...but I feel so strongly about what they did that there's no way I'm ever setting foot in Egypt until they change their wicked ways.

I'm surprised they even have pigs, since they are "unclean" and they won't eat them

You'd be surprised! It was Compassion in World Farming that alerted me to it and they have a video on their website proving it too...although I couldn't watch it as I know it would upset me too much. You'd be amazed at what goes on in these countries you really would.

*sighs* I would love to go to Egypt and see all the antiquities and sights. The Valley of the Kings would have to be the first port of call, followed by the Pyramids and, of course, the Cairo Museum

hi ElicBxn yes it would be great to see these new ruins in Egypt that they have discovered. I loved taking Archaeology in school and would love to have pursued that life. But reading about it and seeing it through other eyes is also fun. I would dearly love to go to Egypt some day and see things for myself.

I read about that this morning, I love stuff like that. I'm always watching the history channel and the discovery channel. I would definitely go but I'm more interested in the ancient world of the Inca, Maya and Aztec.

I guess because most of the universities in this area only offer Meso-American archeology, I really am not TERRIBLY interested in it. I've actually been quite friendly with several people in the Mayan archeology group here.
