Donate to a library or sell them or give them to a friend if you think it might be one your friend would enjoy. Other then the library there are probably other places you can donate your old books to. You could also take it to you used book store. You could sell it at a garage sale or yard sale. You might be able to sell or even trade to a used bookstore. Hope these ideas might be helpful. Jen aka Kittykat7983

I thought of another please I meant to mention before and that is you could donate to a school. There are many ways to find people who might benefit from you passing your books on to them. Jen aka Kittykat7983

I donated my books to charity. They might be useful to some people out there. Or you could always sell them at a garage sale or car-boot sale event. Hope that helps. Cheers.

I am in the process of spring cleaning my house. I just got rid of brassware gifted to me as vases, bowls, name them collecting dust and unless they are polished regularly they don't look presentable. I used to have a lot of help around (3 maids) and I used to polish them regularly but now I am short of them and so I decided to sell them by weight. I have stories on all those items but if I were to indulge in them I would be a mental wreck so goodbye brassware. The same holds good for books - hundreds of them. I have already asked an institute here to have them collected. Last but not the least I have thousand of photographs and I donot know what to do with them. How many can I scan and store???

Some books needs to be change, otherwise we are living in a new age generation so most people have their personal computer and they rather surf on the internet than reading some books they think it's more convenient and comfortable. For me, I would try to keep old books of mine even my parents are against within. We don't know maybe it will still helps people unto the next generation comes.

If it is still readable, I would keep it. I like books, doesn't matter if they are old or new.

Maybe you can sell them off on ebay, better yet, you can donate it to a public library or charity. I must admit I don't buy a lot of books these days, and usually just prefer to download ebooks, though I don't do that too often as well. I guess I'm pretty busy doing other things these days. As for our old books, well, we still keep them. I hope when I have kids, I can pass those on to them heheh!

I found a few donation boxes near where I live. The kind of boxes that only accept old books. My kids are fond of books, so a lot of their old ones get donated to these boxes. The other books that are missing pages just get put on the paper and cardboard recycling box. If you have e-book copies of your books, then you can certainly dispose of these. Either through donations or recycling.

I love reading and I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to books. I recently cleared out a great pile of books as I needed the room. I took them to work and set up a work "library". Everyone brings in books they no longer want and we pay a small fee to borrow them, which goes to a local charity.

Hi. My family and I always donated our old books to the local Goodwill. I think everywhere has one, right? I love to go to the Goodwill to look at books. You can get up to 5 books for 3.oo sometimes.. But it's a good way so that you're books don't get thrown away, someone can sell them for you and someone else can get a good read out of them! :)

I love my books and find it very hard to part with any of them. With standards of literature falling and the increasing reliance on the internet, books are rapidly disappearing so I will keep all my old books so that I can read them and re-read them at leisure.

Maybe you can give them away. Even though old, they sure are golden as the knowledge in them will benefit those who read those books. I normally give my old books to orphanage.

What my mom did is she donated the books to a library, where it would have a good use, and people could use it as well.. Though now, we are keeping all the books we have, cause my sisters and I are planning ( and hoping ) that one day we could make our own library.

Hi cloud, I think books are a great investment. Nowadays we depend a lot on the world wide web, but what happens if suddenly the web is not available? Good old books are the best. If you don't need it, you could store them in your bookshelf or if you had a lot, you could make it into a small library. Who knows, maybe one day, you'll be able to use them. Or your future kids could also use them. If you want to have extra profit, you could sell them to an interested buyer.
