I have had someone accidently walk in on me when I have gone to the bathroom. When this happened it was so embarassing. I was going to the bathroom and the door was shut. This guy didn't even knock and opened up the bathroom without even knocking. I was so mad and embarrased. He said it was an accident. My thought is if you see a door closed you are suppose to knock. This is only common sense to anyone who has any sense at all. It rude to just barge into a bathroom when it is closed. A closed bathroom door is usually a indacation that someone is using it. I now lock the door when I go to the bathroom. This way there is embarassments waiting to happen.

But when i was living with my parents my mom and sister would always walk in, but that really didnt bother me that much.

It happens constantly. My fiancee's family are so open that it doesn't bug anybody. If somebody is on the toilet, but I want to brush my teeth or what have you, we just go ahead.
Rules are, make sure you sit at all times when you are going to the washroom, and when you walk in, don't look or you are bound to see something you don't want too.
Not an issue at all to us

Hi tuckersheri,
I did walk in on someone who was having a shower in the bathroom. Unfortunately, it happened twice! :P I remember when I was 8 and 10 respectively, I accidentally opened the door of the bathroom when my father was having shower. I needed to weewee urgently. I then closed the door at once and said sorry to him. Why did he lock the door? When did I knock the door? ha ha ha....... We both got the responsibilities on that.
Have a nice weekend!

Hi, tuckersheri. I usually will knock when I need to go to the bathroom. But it has happened a few times in my life... One time, I opened the bathroom door and my mother-in-law was standing up naked washing up in the sink.... I was very sorry and ashamed about this. It is only because, at her house, the door is usually closed when no one is in there. Other than that, I am knocking on the door before I just walk in there... At places like Walmart, I will surely knock because I am more in an public place. Knocking is the best thing to do. It is polite as well.

Well I can honestly say that I have never walked in on anyone but I did have something like this happened to me though. Well with me I like to take a shower and then lounge with my towel around me for a couple minutes while sitting at my computer. Well with me I feel that hey its my house so I am allowed to do that. Not only that but if your curtains are closed then you should not even bother. Well with us we allow or relatives to knock and just walk in. But one day when I was sitting at the computer with my towel my sister knocks and comes in well that was fine. Then not even 10 minutes later her boyfriend at the time just walked in without knocking. I was so mad and embarrassed. I looked at my sister, and she said I am so sorry, I told her that she should not be sorry that he should be. When I got dressed he came back and knocked on the door that time which he should have done the first time. Then my sister got on his butt about just walking in. I tell you what when ever I sit around with my towel wrapped around me I stay in the bedroom or bathroom till I get dressed.

One day while I was a child my parents were having a party. The party was downstairs and most people used the bathroom downstairs instead of the bathroom upstairs. I walked into the bathroom upstairs, because I thought it would be empty, but one of guests had decided to use that bathroom and she was sitting on the toilet, when I opened the door. I apologized and I wanted to leave, but she asked me to stay, and she talked to me while she was on the toilet. I thought that was pretty strange, but she didn't seem to care and she just contined talking to me as if we had been in living room and not in the bathroom.
I have also had someone walk in on me, it has happened at least a couple of times. My aunt walked in on me while I was at their house, and my father walked in on me once when I didn't lock the door, because I thought that I was alone in the house.

I could say that it was the other way around. I was sitting on the throne, and forgot to lock the door assuming that nobody would come in seeing that the bathroom lights were on.
Then suddenly, our male househelp came rushing in, heeding his own call of nature. And my, what a huge surprise it was for both of us!

I have been walked in on when I was at home- luckily it was just a family member (nothing she hadn't seen before, lol!).
She was like, "Oh, Gosh!" and got totally grossed out and mad.
I was like "Sorry!" and started laughing uncontrollably.
I did close the door, but she was trying to come in to get the laundry- when we do the laundry we keep the door closed because the noise is so loud. w

I've never done that to anyone. Probably because I've had it done to me more than once. I respect the sanctity of a closed door. When I was in college my roommates and I were incredibly close. We were equally as cruel. Privacy was a luxury you just weren't going to get. My cohorts grew up in large families. Multiple brothers and sisters. I was an only child. Much more reserved. I had to change my mind-set quickly. The bathroom door lock didn't work. They didn't seem to care. This wasn't a frat house. There were 5 of us. 3 guys, 2 girls. The girls had there own bathrooms, and we shared one. It just became routine. The happiest day of my life was the day I got my own apartment. I could write a book about the "reindeer games" we played over those 4 years.

Ya i had a similar experience just last week while i was riding a boat going to another province to visit my sister. I was using the toilet and i locked the door that is why i was surprised why it was suddenly opened. I guess the door lock was not functioning well. Luckily i was wearing a long shirt so my private part was not exposed. I really told the person to please knock since you see that the door is close. I just hope i won't experience this again.
