We have had problems with debt for quite a few years now, and trust me our family knows what it is like to dig out of it! Just today we have only 3 debts left, after we pay those in the coming months we will be debt free! It feels so amazing to be debt free! (Almost Debt Free) It takes a lot of pressure off of our backs now and the collector calls have stopped! Are you someone that is digging out of debt? If you are then I know how you feel! Have you been in debt and have been able to get out of it? If so I am getting there and we hope to feel the pride you do! Hope you respond to this discussion! I would love to know your story! Happy MyLoting!

Hi friend! Congrats on almost being out of debt. I know what a huge acompplishment that is. Sorry to say that my story is very different then yours. Steve and I used to have a very good credit rating, always paid on time and more then the minimum required. Even went into debt for a house. Then the economy took the big hit along with the jobs. Steve was laid off and for anyone on unemployment you know that they never come close to paying what you were making on the job.He couldn't find another job for a VERY long time and even now isn't making any where near to what he used too. We had to buckle down and make some changes. Not every one would agree with us but the credit cards were the last thing on our minds. Priority was the mortgage! It's a pretty big one. It was all we could do to make it and keep some electric and water on. We were lucky that I'm a manager in a restaurant so we did get to eat. Needless to say our credit is shot now but on the bright side we still have our home! I'm hoping that the future will bring him a better job and maybe then we can try to pay off our now canceled for non payment credit cards. As for being completely out of debt, we still have 27 years to go on the 30 year mortgage, lol. So unless we hit the lottery I won't know the feeling of being out of debt for a very long time. That's my story. I'm so glad that your's is on the other side of things, I am truly happy for you!

Hey friend! Thank you for the congrats about almost being out of debt, it is really starting to feel better! It sounds like your debt problems are not going away anytime soon and I am truely sorry to hear that. I know what it was like when the economy took a hit, it really hurt us just like you! Our credit rating used to be almost perfect with out a flaw on it, but now after all the collection agencies and bills it is terrible! We did learn that you pay your monthly bills and if there is anything left then you pay on the debt! That is just how it worked for us. I hope for you that Steve will get a nice job in the very near future! That is lucky that you get to work, any little thing can help! I hope you will eventually be out of debt and have a great rest of life debt free! Thank you for posting!

Debt can be a really nasty business! I have been in debt for a number of years now and I've really had enough of it. Still, I am on a debt management plan so my debt is gradually getting lower and lower and I will become debt free in about five years from now. That's a long time but I think I'm handling the situation well now. I pay a debt management company and they send out my payments to all my creditors, I have three in total. The debt management company offers their services for free and this is excellent and they have an excellent customer service. When you are in debt there's not a lot you can do really. I do try to budget my money every couple of weeks now so I know where I stand financially to the penny. Andrew

I agree with you completely, debt is sick and nasty. Sometimes you can be young and someone takes advantage of you then you are in debt for alot of you life! I know how you feel as far as being in debt for several years! I used to be a part of a debt management place but after going through it all I found out that if you talk directly to the companys and do not ignore them then they will work with you! Trust me 5 years may seem like a long time but you will get there! It is always the best thing to do if you can budget your money! If you do not then it is hard! Thanks for posting and I hope you find your self debt free in the years to come!

I am someone who has been trying to pay off all credit cards so it would be one less thing to worry about. I am unfortunately not there yet. I am currently not working and not receiving unemployment yet because of an issue that was brought up and now I am awaiting a decision in writing if they will give me my weeks of unemployment. I been carry a large balance on my card for the last two years and have been steadily making small payments that I can cause money is tight. Any temp work I get I try to put enough money on all cards to wittle it down. Things have gotten really messed up lately that I had to talk to one credit card that I have the largest balance on and try to go into a hardship program. I am hoping I get approved.

Ah the joys of debt. I know them all too well. I've been in it real bad, couldn't keep my bank account from being overdrawn. The phone didn't want to stop ringing, and people are convinced I still owe them money when I know I'm not in the wrong. One such place, bank of america convinced that I owe them money. Yeah right... I filed fraud cases, never got the issues resolved. not paying a dime to them.

Sorry that you have to know the feel of debt. My bank has also been overdrawn a few times also, thank goodness for overdraft protection! My phone also rung off the hook wanting me to pay bills. I hate it when companys say you owe them and you already payed or you never owed them! Hope everything works out for you! Thanks for posting!

We are in the process of getting out of debt. I had a job for a year that paid me quite a bit. We paid off a large monthly payment and another smaller one. I had surgery in January and was off work, but chose not to go back because of the stress. I do make a little online, and I have been offered two part time jobs if I can make them fit together. No benefits, but the money is available to pay on debts and to help our kids when we need to.

Hope your debt starts to go away! Sometimes it seems like those nice paying jobs never last when you need them! Glad that you were able to pay something off! Hope it makes you feel as good as it does to me! There was also medical problems in our household also that put us back. Hope you continue to find ways to pay off debt! Thanks for posting!

Yes, it is very agonizing to be swallowed up by a life full of debt. It is very hard to deal with sometimes. At times you wish you were not alive but you cannot think like that. You have to take it head on and deal with it! All I can say about getting out of it is be positive and even if you can only pay 5 dollars then pay that. Also do not ignore the buisness kepp in contact with them and let them know you will eventually pay! THanks for posting!

Good on you. I'm heavily in debt myself, so I know how it feels to be trying to get out from under. It's like climbing a very long ladder, but every step takes you a bit closer. I've still got a good way to go, but I hope to be completely debt free in about four or five years, depending on my employment situation. I'm glad you're doing well - when you've finally cleared those last three debts, I suggest you do something to celebrate (just don't pay for it with a credit card).

Hope you are able to get all of your debts paid off and you can feel the pride of being able to pay off all of them! 5 years may seem like a long time but it will be worth it! I will celebrate when I get the last three paid off! Thanks for posting!

I must say that having a credit card to my name is the worst mistake I ever done in my entire sane life. That's all where my problems started bills begun to pile up and I had difficulty paying all of them. Not to mention the credit collectors who will visit me from time to time. Now I get rid of my credit card and purchase things that I need through cash. So it's much better because I can control now my spending habit. It's feel good when you have control not the other way around that credit card control my life.

I agree with you that getting a credit card is probably one of the worst things you can do to yourself! If you slip up and can not pay then your credit goes down the toilet! I hate getting the calls form the debt collectors because it is like they do not understand I am trying but it is very hard to pay them off! I am glad though that I have finally paid them off!Good job with controlling your spending habits... I try to also! Happy Mylotting! Thanks for posting!

Personally, I don't owe anyone anything but a member of the family does and it is causing immense distress to everyone. We still don't know how that family member will get out of this debt. We are already running on empty helping her with the debt. Congratulations on your successful battle with debts. Hopefully, it will end soon.

Congrats on being so close to getting out of debt. I am also looking for ways to make a little extra money so I can pay things off. I have the mortgage (but I know that will take time to pay off), I also have credit card bill (which I am hoping to pay off by the end of August) and I am looking for other ways to save money. I am trying to get Magic Jack up and going, but they do not have any local phone numbers for our area. I am hoping to save money so we can do some home improvements on the house. We really need to remodel and I really do not want to use credit cards or take out a loan.
