Two places to write...does anyone use them? EzineArticles and Igougo

In the past week, two different people have mentioned these sites to me. I have started writing for both of them, but I don't really know much about either. Do you write for either one? Or have you discovered a new site that's fun to write for? Share your details here!

I've been using the EzineArticles site for a while. I love them. There are a couple of E publications on there that I was dealing with exclusively. The pay is decent. Everything I did was purely on acceptance terms. They paid $.10-.20 per word and $10 dollars per accepted photo. There was no guarantee they would publish. They were just buying first rights. Most of my articles ended up being about 1000 words. It was mostly travel. It sounds like they might be right in your comfort zone. I haven't heard about Igougo 'til now. I'll have to check them out. Thanks. Love & Luck.

Thanks for the information about EzineArticles. I will concentrate on travel, since I have a lot of that anyway. I have been posting a mix of things at the moment. Let me know if you decide to join Igougo, and we can be pals over there. I love the site.

EzineArticles sounds like it is worth looking into. I think $0.10 is fair pay these days unless you are lucky enough to land an assignment for something like Rolling Stone. Batcountry, is there anything we should know about the site and the company's practices?

Please keep in mind that it's a fluid #. There are all different pay scales depending on who buys rights to your work. If you get a good gig try to develop a relationship with the publication. It's the best way to make money as a freelancer. Because I love you guys/girls, and I think everyone who wants to write for a living deserves a chance to make fair wages I have a gift: www.ebookcrossroads.com/freelance.html It's a freelance marketplace. Requirements vary depending on the publication. If you don't have a writing resume you still might be o.k. here. A lot of times they will overlook lack of publishing experience if you show ability. In particular, try Fun Trips Live http://funtripslive.com/common/writers_guide.htm These links should take you where you want to go, but my HTML ain't so good:) Fun Trips has become a little more structured, but it's still a good place to get work. If they aren't for you there's a lot of other things you may like in the marketplace. Give 'em a look. Love & Luck.

I am a little curious about EzineArticles after that other discussion so I will be interested in hearing of your experiences with the site in the coming weeks.

Hi C. Yes, Scheng roped me into checking this one out. I have to say that I like it a lot, but I can't figure out how (or if) you are supposed to make money there! A huge downside, since this is the point of the whole thing! I love Igougo, which someone at Helium mentioned to me. It's a travel writing site, and you can earn Amazon dollars or American Airline miles (or some other travel discounts). There is so much interesting information. I have been spending too much time there reading about other people's travel adventures, instead of writing about my own! Typical. What are you working on these days, writing-wise?

I swear our tastes are the same. I love jazz. And I am trying to plan a trip to Spain, Portugal, and a day trip to Morocco either for this fall or next spring (depending on finances). Where are you planning to travel? I've been to Barcelona, which I adore, but that's the only city in Spain. I think you will like Igougo; I've already earned the first level of Amazon cash out in just a couple of weeks, having reposted my travel stuff there.

Hello, Canellita. What part of Spain are you coming to? Perhaps I can help with some 'must sees.' I'mon the Costa Blanca. Nothing todo with the discussion, sorry!

I always assumed people got paid for e zine articles. I do not know anything about Igougo, but it sounds like a neat place to read. I keep letting work get in the way of writing. I will be watching to see what you learn about your new sites. It is always good to share this kind of information.

I think the whole point of EzineArticles is to get picked up by companies looking for articles. I checked and their website rating is one of the highest for writing sites, so a lot of people are going there. But there is no upfront payment or page views, only what gets sold. Or at least that seems to me how it works. I've only been there a couple of days. I love Igougo. It's all travel and you earn for your reviews, photos, and stories about travel. You can earn Amazon dollars or American Airline miles or other travel discounts. There are some well-traveled folks on there, and I've spend hours already reading other people's articles.

I've not tried both, and Igougo sounds pretty interesting. I might take a look at it and read, as I love travel tales. I do know about the reputation of Ezine though.. it's a credible site for sure.

Thingywhatsit had a discussion about writing sites posted a year ago that I just came across and it mentions a travel site you might be interested in: TRIVAGO A serious site for the travel writer, though I wasn't sufficiently travel orientated to make money there. For those that really are into travel in a big way, the site has potential, though user input is huge and what is expected of you seems excessive, though as I say, if travel is your thing, then could be right up your street. The discussion is here if you want to see the rest of the sites: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1401783.aspx

Thanks for the information Canellita. I am always interested in checking out sites about travel. I really enjoy traveling and have been trying my hand at making a buck at it. I haven't tried IGOUGO, although I have heard about it. I'll have to check it out as well. I've mostly been writing on eHow. I had tried Helium and Associated Content when I first started writing articles, but only had one purchased. Plus, my residuals weren't much to speak about. Fortunately, I have had a lot better luck on eHow. Thanks to all of you in this discussion for the information. I just love my fellow myLotters and the information that you share. Have a great day!

Thanks to you for sharing your info. I have not tried my hand at ehow. My passive income at helium is over $15 a month now which is pretty good compared to what people are getting from their savings accounts, but passive income is still passive so I am still exploring other opportunities. I recently went to Spain and I started a travel blog. I might try some of those other sites as away to create links back to my blog.

Never heard about Igougo, but i use Ezines since two weeks and i have wrote two articles there. When we are a stanard member, we have a limit to write only 15 articles, if you are a premium meber, it is unlimited. I don't have many read on my articles... But i would prefer writting on Squidoo, i like their fun design and we can add many widgets in our articles there like polls, guestbook, rss to our blog, promote ebay/amazon, ect...

I just started with Ezines as well. It seems as if they are very popular as they are really highly ranked as a website that gets a lot of traffic. As for Squidoo, I started there with one page, but you need three to really get going, and I just sort of dropped out. It takes a lot of work, but I am spread all over the place. I think if someone really concentrated just on that site, it could be great. Unfortunately, I write primarily for Helium and AC. Good luck with your writing and Squidoo!
