Why do Husband and Wives Fight?

I am confused.. In this topic for the sake of the kids we have discussed if it is right to stay or not in the relationship for the sake of the kids. How ever my question is WHY DO COUPLES FIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
If these vicious fights are avoidable in the first place then there is no reason to separate at all.
What do you think? what is the reason?

I think, another reason why couples fight because of egocentrism. Maybe one side is envy when the other side is taking more advantage. To avoid rages, each side much give ways to it's partner. Like us, I keep silence when my wife is anger and mouthing. My time to explain is when her high pressure subside.
