What do you think? Is the quality of information given in the internet has declined in its dependability or got even better?
I had this thoughts after I've learned that some people had just copy and pasted informations from the net, a site , or a book. just to have an article in order to earn. The Irony is that the copied materials are not on its original context because from one phrase they cut another phrase and paste them together (if you know what I mean). so i asked myself, doesn't it distort the original context? worst if they add opinions way out of facts. anyway, Can you give your opinions regarding this?

Hello jaymar777. When I was in junior high school and I had homework. I came and search on the web and there where some pages talking about the subjects I was looking for but most of them where a copy of the Encarta Encyclopedia, well at least in Spanish it was that way.
Now there are millions of web pages, a lot of them as you say are plagiarism but I still think there is a lot of information to look at. Of course we have to be very careful and be on trusted sites, because people insert random opinions at good articles screwing them up just to call those articles their own.
So I think good information has increased but adulterated information has also increased and in a bigger and faster way.
Very interesting question, Libna.
Have a good evening.

Thank you. I am the same with you during my college years, searching the web for information especially for reports. Most of the time i don't get much info, but now you will get more than what you ask. Even half-baked articles are over the place. They say the net is one messy place.
Thank you for taking Libna

I think the information on the internet has increased in both quality and quantity. That is not to say that there isn't any real worthless junk around, but in general terms, I think it's much easier today to find out what you're looking for than when the internet was new.

Yes I agree. but which one has an edge the quality and quantity or the junk? You're right it is much easier now than before. A maybe good example are the "how to's", it is very easy to get knowledge from articles such as this one.
Thank you for taking time Deenad

this is not a good way to earn through the internet and plagiarism is an internet crime. people should think about copying articles more times. if they get caught, they will be suspended or got banned. but i believe that information in the internet is getting better, not only because people is doing better to improve the information already available, but we have a lot of choices. we have a lot of sites to choose from where we will get the good information we need.

It seems it is quite a paradox. Anyway it is really difficult to police the internet don't you think? People can easily open an account and that's it. Most of the time it so difficult to pinpoint the culprit. not to mention, the number of people doing the crime daily, and the reality of the law in each country is different with regards to cyber crimes. I agree with you though that we have some options to get the information we need.

The qulity of actual information has deffently declined over time. And, with plagerisim at an incress as discribed above, but regardless of that it makes it difficult to determine fact from fiction anymore. And, you have people that are inclined to believe anything you are willing to say to them regardless of their beliefs. I mean seriously the en of the world, come on.... cell phones giving cancer?... guess where people are picking up things like this... the internet... yet there is no real truth to it.
Cell phone compnies aren't putting the cancer-causing issue in their liture, they aren't designing more inivatevative phones. And, don't get me started on the end-of-the-world issue. its enough to make me want to rip my skull out.

This is very true, differentiating from fact and fiction is almost an impossibility. Sometimes when you read the article it seems that there is no food that we possibly could eat. Imagine even rice is not suited to be consumed by man. I'm an asian what do you expect?
Good views kaylachan

Hello,
Quality of information has definitely declined a bit. This is because those who share these information are not being sincere in what they are doing. It has become a business and everyone is motivated in earning through it. Very few people actually think about having valued contributions here. Plagiarism is nothing new. Its just that the business attached to it makes it more dangerous ailment. But it is not the root cause of the deteriorating quality. One of my students recently commented that literature has lost its demand to him as those styles are obsolete and imperfect in modern context. Little learning is always dangerous. It becomes more dangerous when money is incorporated. If one can earn money through easy means one will never be interested in further improvements.
God bless you

Amen to this. You are right and your student is right as well. It seems that we could not trust the information sometimes posted. It is really very dangerous to mix the two, information and business. I like the view your student shared. Come to think of it, people don't read articles at its full content, or the skills and artistry and genius behind the writing; instead it is more on scheming now and just looking for the key words that one wants to see and focus on those sentences.
God bless

Dear friend,
I hope lots of people are using internet which had made self controlling those mostly controlled by humans, paying bill, online shopping, online earning, transactions, communications so on. Even the libraries are getting less attracted as information could be attained from internet. Internet has its own popularity unless another new invention overtakes it.

Yes internet is a great invention and had made our lives easier. The very question is much more focused on the quality of information we get from the internet. Nice to know your side on this topic.

Yes it is very evident nowadays. I guess the old school books will still stay for awhile. They're still the most reliable ones.
