I am currently a student and from what I observe, students always find fault to teachers doing their best to teach us.
I'm not trying to act all goody-goody but it is just what I observe in our school. Students alwayas blame teachers. Though I have to admit, there are times that I blame them.
I'd like to get your opinion regarding this topic.
Exactly what is the reason why students start to hate teachers? I can't trace the reason why, though I am also a student.
Will you be kind enough to respond?

Hello bestylish,
I think not all but only those students who do not want to study, or who do not come with their home-work done,or those who are physically present in the classroom but mentally either dreaming or just waiting for the lecture to end...., these kinds of students hate teacher otherwise, we always hear from some students, who comes first or second ,that so and so teacher is her/his favourite.
I can tell you why students hate teachers in INDIA
In India children have too much burden of studies. In the morning they go to regular school ,study for 6 hours, get lots of homework....then they come home and their tuition teacher is waiting.....they finish school homework with tuition teacher, and in the night they sit with parents to do homework given by tuition teacher.....poor children. And during Examination it is total mad world . Children are snatched away from their childhood under this burden of studies.....now what do you expect from these poor children........to love teachers.........obviously they start hating studies , and so they start getting punishments , and these punishments are given by teachers.....so they start hating teachers.
But will you blame children for this.....I will not!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teaching is a hard nor heavy profession for me. They dedicated their life to teach many students in different manners. Mold them, give them attention & knowledge to attain profession. Teachers are the molder of professionals. Without teachers no professionals at all. So why students hate the teachers. Instead we love & respect our teachers.

I don't know anymore what's happening in schools nowadays, but when I was still in school it didn't used to be like that. True, many students hated most of the teachers, but there were also some teachers that students really liked and respected. When I was in college I had a professor whom everyone loved. She was a strict woman, but she was also very kind and had a great sense of humor.

I had very good teacher, and in my case I really never hated my teachers, some of them were even role models. I think some students blame their teachers for everything, because they haven't learn yet how to take responsibility for their acts, and that is something that you learned with time, experience and education from their families.

Im a student,too.
In my country, students seldom blame teachers.
In fact,we are shy to talk with teachers.
we dont ask questions in calss.
When teachers ask some questions, small people want to show his or her thinkings.
I think students dont hate teachers.
But they hate who gives many homeworks, many tests, many punishments!!

That's true, students hate teachers who give so many tests and assignments but there are also other students (like me) who likes to have many assignments. I like assignments since it makes my grades higher. HEHE!

I would say that adults always blame their bosses! These adults were one day students, so it's easy to follow the argument. I think, one explanation is that this is natural from humans. I mean, in general you never give credit for the others' help or accept your own defects... If you got an A+ in Calculus, you'll say that you have studied a lot, but if you got F you'll probably say: that's the teacher's fault. People'll never accept that they were ignorant (ignorant is different from stupid or idiot, even if they're used in common language as synonyms) about the subject. So, they have to blame someone else, cause it's easier to remove the attention from them. This is like the question: Have you already lied to someone? Everybody will say very quickly: NO! Do you know why? Because nobody wants to be compromised ("Perhaps he or she will think that I'm a liar if I say that I have already lied"). Of course, this is involuntary, or better, subconscious' thoughts. But that's the very nature of humans...

I agree with you, sometimes there are teachers who abuse their authority just to scare the students.

I also wonder why students hate teachers. I guess students dislike teachers because of all the work they give, especially if one class requires to do something then another teacher gives more work to do.
As for me, I always liked teachers. I guess it's because I was always one of the behaved students, I look up to them, and I respect their authority. I believe that the teacher will not get angry if a student doesn't do anything to cause it. I remember this teacher that my classmates hated but I thought she wasn't bad. She was actually very kind out of the classroom and I had her as a teacher like 5 years before that. She is very strict in the classroom but outside, I'd say she is one of the most approachable teachers. However, there were only two times that I really hated teachers. One was very out of place. She always got angry, misunderstood things we did, and it seemed like she had something wrong up there in her head. I am not the kind to hate teachers but she sure made me do so. We had her replaced. The other one was a very annoying braggart. She thinks like she's someone important. She is kind at times and tries to be cool and get along with students but she really has traits that I dislike. Just like me, some of my classmates hate her too.
In my opinion, I think students hate teachers when they are given more schoolwork which stops them from doing what they want. Also, some students may have been treated badly. But in my opinion, it's because some don't study enough or are not doing their best at school. Some teachers really admire students who do their best at school and may dislike lazy students. And last, there are some teachers who give teachers a bad name that even the likes of me would hate their guts.
Interesting topic. I'd love to read other responses as well because being someone who likes teachers, I've always wondered about this.

While I was reading your response, it made me remember some teachers...
I also had a teacher who is so strict during class that she can make you cry (literally). But I guess once you get to know her, she's not as bad as you think. I guess she says mean things and scolds us during class so that we will study and focus in our lessons to improve our grades. And you know what, instead of us hating that teacher, it made us respect her and look up to her. She's really great. Even if she's scolding us almost everyday or making our hearts pound really fast once she calls our name to go in front and answer the problem (MATH), we still respect her. I mean, she deserves it. Not only she's smart but also because she chose to teach students like us and become a teacher instead of finding a better job and earn more than what she makes. She's a great teacher though she's scary. HEHE!
By the way, thanks for saying this is an interesting topic. I appreciate it.

For some reason I know was students hates them because sometimes they misunderstood the teachers. Like they don't want to correct by their teachers in their characters or manners which is need to correct. Because teachers has the right to teach them and to correct them if they are inside the school. And this is one of the thing that they hate to teacher. My husband is a teacher also.

I always respect teacher. As i believe that one teacher can bright one student life.
But sometime i really feel so sad when i don't get a good response from the teacher. Sometime i hate teacher when they make difficult question. Thought it's not there problem it's our own problem. And now a days i hate teacher when i can't understand what they teach us. Or when i ask them for helping us about study but they refuse. Then i feel so bad.
But one thing i respect all the teacher in this world.

when i was in high school,i agree with you.but in the university,i think it's not like what you said.i find the professors most time are very nice.one reason for the phenomena is that the student is too young, and they do not know right or wrong.when the teacher has different opinion than they will think that the teacher is not so good.sometime the teacher also think that the student are too young,so they may be will a little stern.

I asked my brothers who go to different universities and they told me that there are professors who want to act all terrifying. Quite the opposite to you. But, people are different... I guess they're just not so lucky to have terrifying teachers.

We cannot blame if you see teachers that way. You have somewhat reason. Not all teacher justifies their work. I was once a student and I know exactly how it feels hating a teacher. That's why when I became a teacher, I always make sure,my students gonna love me or at least be their friend. Teaching isn't easy at all and we cannot please everybody's differences and standards.

Hi bestylish.I'm a student too. I never hate my teacher, but just as you say is just dont like. I remember when I'm in high school, I dont like my math teacher very much. She was unfair and she just liked students who good at study, otherwise she seldom took notice of and I was the one of the latter. I was frustrated and I had lost my intested in study gradually. I think she isnt worth to respect. And this is why she was hated by us.

When I was a student like you there were some teachers that I hated during 1st day in class, that is normal perhaps, but as days passed by being always present in their subjects eventually I learned to like them.I remember this professor of mine in literature and humanities, he asked me to go out from the classroom because he caught me talking with my seatmate,:) I was so embarrassed, I blushed as in...but I didn't get out from his class, after the class I felt like I hated him, I promised myself to never enroll in his subjects next time but when I shifted from Bachelor of Science to Arts & Science where he belong to that department he welcomed and told me " I AM SO GLAD YOU BELONG TO Art and Science NOW"...That words banished my hates to this professor and I even took his humanity subject the next semester and the best part is we are friends in FACEBOOK now,he give me advices when I need one.Sometimes, we misunderstood them that is why we hate them...Like my Philosophy teacher, she was known to be a terror teacher who loves oral recitations everyday, and she gave the students sarcastic remarks and when I enrolled to her class my friends told me to drop the subject, I never dropped her instead I got the perfect attendance.I listened to her & I tried to answer the question why most of the students under her before me hated her, I tried to fathom the mystery she hides inside her, & yes I succeeded, when we tackled about deceptions, she asked me "WHAT IS MY DECEPTION?" I gave her the answer that hits her to open up herself to the class, she was deceived by the Man she thought who loved her and that made her so cruel to people. Aside of getting the answer to my question I have also conquered my fear. Knowing your teacher well will break the walls in between. Try to understand them and you will end up liking them.

because some of the teachers are not friendly and always treat the student like a stupid person.
but that's normal, we just need to concentrate on what we have to do at school.
well, now all students have right to complain about their teachers.
so that can help you fix your problem with your teacher at school. (if you have problem)
