I do. Some people may be allergic to them just like my classmate back in college. He said whenever his family cooked crabs [I don't know if he would react the same way with other seafood] they would get him another viand because he would really feel bad even just by looking at those. But in my case, I'm grateful to the Lord because I don't have any allergies. I can eat what I like, and that would include seafood. I like small squids, shellfish, shrimps of any kind, and crabs. Sadly, they're just getting more and more expensive these days.

doctors warn about the allergenic content of seafoods like crabs and shrimps. they have way too high than normal, so if you have allergies, better stay away from these type of seafoods. some, though, carry medication to counter whatever allergies may ensue following a good take of shrimps or crabs.

sea food in the market - Whenever I pass by Farmers Market in Cubao, Quezon City Philippines, I like looking at the arrays of sea food. Almost all sorts of seafood are there and unfortunately, I couldn't find a picture in the net that depicts it. But one of the small stalls may look like this one in the picture.
Indeed, there are people who have allergies to those and since the children of Israel in Moses' time are still ignorant about medical and scientific findings, the Almighty just told them not to eat it and that's that because they won't understand too detailed explanations the way we understand them now as mankind at that time was in its infancy stage. Proof: Leviticus 11:10-12 [10] And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: [11] They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcasses in abomination. [12] Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you. Not only allergies that the Lord tried to protect them from but also other diseases (e.g. gout, high blood pressure, etc.) and undernourishment it may bring if the intake is too much for those who were not allergic to it.

that's great information, clowdine, and thanks for the enlightenment. indeed, certain seafoods not only trigger allergies, but also causes certain diseases. remember some recent news about a killer variety of fish, called locally as butete. so, god so created things with their individual and specific purposes for existence.

crabs - Crabs have one set of claws and four other pairs of legs. If a predator grabs a leg of a crab, the crab will shed it and later it will grow back.

I too, like crabs very much but it's a bit tedious to eat it. One of my family members (I can't recall who exactly it was) once said that she gets even more hungry while eating crabs. They seem to have more shells than meat.

I also do the same when I'm in a feast. I always make it a point that I have seafood in my plate. I regard seafood as the star among the food items. And I think we're not the only ones. Otherwise it will not cost a meager 12 pieces of swahe P80 for just half a kilo of it, as an example.

It sounds like you have a slight idea how delicious they are. Have you tasted seafood before, at least crabs and prawns? Or you have been allergic to seafood since childhood. I've learned some people just acquire allergies later in life. I used to think it's something a person is born with.

Hi, clowdine. No, I don't really like the deep seafood as much. I do like regular fish. I like whitings and flounder. But, I really don't like fish that has bone in it. It takes away my enjoyment when eating the fish. All the other seafood, I don't touch..

tamban - This is a Philippine fish that is tasty but I can't stand it because it has plenty of fish-bone.
A bony fish really spoils the day. We have a local fish called "tamban" and it is as tasty as our "galunggong" especially when fried but I'm having a hard time eating this fish that's why I don't buy it.

I like crustaceans a lot but they're truly messy and that's also the same reason I rarely order them from the restaurants when I dine out. Whenever I'm home eating those, I really take the time making sure no crab or shrimp meat is left behind.

cooked shrimps - Not as large as prawns but larger than the grayish bait like shrimp, suahe are much paler or creamier in color than other shrimps. Reference: http://www.marketmanila.com/archives/skewered-and-grilled-suahe
Although prawns are a bit expensive in our country, at least we get to eat about 95 percent of what we pay for, unlike with shell fishes or other types of crustaceans. But I prefer the medium shrimps better. It's called "swahe" in our vernacular tongue. I like it's sweet yummy taste. And it's so versatile. So many recipes can be made out of it. But most of the time, I just cook "halabos". It's for least effort, time, and cost but for the same great taste.

Like them very much! My hometown is a town beside sea, so we eat seafood very often. Old people can use seafood to make all kinds of delicious foods! When i have my holiday, grandma usually fry some little fishes, I like them very very much. For the price, yes, the price actually rises much, but for their nutrition, I think they deserve it. Happy mylot!

shellfish - "Shellfish is a culinary and fisheries term for exoskeleton-bearing aquatic invertebrates used as food, including various species of molluscs, crustaceans, and echinoderms. Although most kinds of shellfish are harvested from saltwater environments, some kinds are found only in freshwater. In addition a few species of land crabs such as Cardisoma guanhumi, are eaten, for example in the Caribbean."

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shellfish
When I was in grade five, I stayed in Northern Samar, in my mother's home town which was surrounded by beaches. Regularly, we got to collect shellfish and the usual viand that we came up with was boiled shellfish and then we put on some calamansi and a little salt. MSG products were not widely used there. My uncle who is my mother's younger brother would always go fishing and when he came home, he usually brought heaps of fish of different kinds.

I am totally in love with seafood. I'm just 35kg,a small girl indeed but whenever we have milk-fish, crab, shrimp, st. peter's fish and mussel for dinner I could eat as much as 4 cups rice.

seafood - Sea foods never fail to delight me. They are indeed very nice to look at only that they are not very cheap.
I think best tasting foods are usually found in the sea. Sea foods have always been brought in picnics, cocktails, and they are usually what the expensive restaurants can offer. They usually adorn the table in an elegant way.

dalagang bukid - This is a Philippine fish. I got an interesting explanation from yahoo answers why it was called such. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090318214605AAuJxz9
The fish Dalagang bukid got its name because of its red underside which resembles a saya or tapis of farm girls in the fields. Red is a Filipino favorite esp. in Southern tagalog areas. Even men's trousers were common to be colored red in Rizal and Laguna provinces but calling them Binatang Bukid defeats Pinoy romaticism.

The fish's color and pattern tells that it is a reef fish and so does its bones that are not so rigid making them slow but manueverable. May sub-specie pa ito na flatter at hindi masyadong cylindrical ang katawan sa mga lugar ng Visayas na maaaring magsabi na taal ang mga ganitong uri sa mas-malalalim na katubigan at masisikip na coral colonies.

Sometimes there are foods that many consider delicious but surprisingly not appealing to some. There are instances we don't like certain foods but we simply just can't explain why. For example, I used to like a fish called "dalagang bukid" (this may be a freshwater fish, I'm not sure but I just used this as an example because I can't think of a true sea food that I hate and I also don't know the reason why I hate it) when I grew older, I learned to dislike it but I don't know exactly what made me do.

crabs and prawns - The most celebrated seafood of all time by rich, poor and anywhere in between.
They have been popular to the world throughout the centuries that's why wet markets always make it a point they are part of their merchandise at all times.

calamares - "Calamares" (squid) has recently become a street food in the Philippines. The street vendors would deep fry the breaded squid cuts.
Those are all effortlessly delicious. You can just boil them and they're already delicious on their own except for calamares (squid), you have to come up with a bit complicated procedure on that to draw the exquisite taste.

Fish stew - This is a fish cooked in vinegar
I live my life eating seafoods because we came from fishermen's family in the Philippines. Shellfishes are easy to cook and easy to prepare. We just have to cook lots of rice
