hi. we can see nowadays, many youngsters start working when they are still studying. some also leave studies to earn more for their living. many students are opting for online educational courses instead of regular course as they can work for more hours. do you think online course is as useful as regular one? are these online course beneficial in long run?

Yes, in my opinion, online learning can help many people to learn more or to learn again. Many persons would like to go back to school but they can't because they need to work to maintain their home. So e-learning is a good way to learn in your free time (for example at night or early in the morning) and it helps you to get a better position in the future. I think that in the coming generations, e-learning will become a way of life.

I'ev had a negative experience with studying online. The amount of information given for doing different exercises and learning new things was very small, so I had to ask admins for more. There were cases, when admins were not responding, I don't know the reason why. For me it would be definitely better to study with a real teacher, so I could ask the questions right away during the lessons.

This is a nice, pertinent and very useful discussion. Online courses that are being conducted by reputed organizations are very much valid and definitely help in advancing one's knowledge and may be career. In India I am sure tha software industry does respect them. The core enginering industry might have some reservations esp. if the courses are technical in the sense of core Engineering subjects like Tribology for instance. But I do not see why, other than such learning, which would need a hands experience to make it usable, why others cannot go fully online and see full benefit ofit. I have also registered for an Online Web designer's course from Silicon India. It is different thing that I am unable to use it as continuously as someone lower in management hierarchy could use. That is a different thing. That is why I ask such course conductors as to how long I can be a student with permissions to access course materials.
So, my conclusion is they do help.

Well, online courses are useful, but you don't have a person who can correct you or to ask for doubts on real time. When you go on person to a school you usually feel more motivated than studying at home. Even if you focus a lot, your home is full of distractions, so I prefer regular educational courses.

I prefer the regular classroom environment when taking courses. Personally, I think it's a cheaper and more effective learning method than online learning. There are many advantages to classroom learning. Firstly, you tend to pay more attention to the lecturer, and secondly, any queries can be cleared up with the lecturer on the spot. Of course, that depends on the subjects of study. Subjects which involve lots of theory may be taken as an online course. However, for subjects which involve some form of practical practice like computer programming, then it's advisable to study it in a classroom environment, with the lecturer present physically.

I am currently thinking about going back to school. For me it seems online would be the best option. I work a full time job and would have to travel a bit to go to campus. That would leave me little time left for other things. I am an independent learner and think I would pick up on things quickly.

For me.. it would depend on the subject matter of the class.
Many things are easy to learn from books, as they are written fact and that they don't vary. Some more technical instruction, such as nursing and carpentry, are probably better learned in the classroom or first hand setting.

I have taken both online courses and off line courses, but I like online classes better. I get more out of them. When looking for an online school make sure it is accredited. My husband attends the University of Phoenix online and really enjoys it. I was going through their Masters Program, but I had instructors I did not really like. Right now I am back at the local college taking a couple of classes before I decide where to go to graduate school.

I've been forced to take online courses because of scheduling dilemmas. They're o.k. I prefer regular lecture courses, though. Online courses tend to demand the absolute minimum from students. Lecture classes require a certain amount of participation. They also give students an element of accountability. I think online is fine if it's a fairly easy class. I took one for Business Law to save time. In the long run I don't know if it will matter much. It may add to declining educational standards. Time will tell. Love and Luck.

hi! the regular one for me please :)
I really don't that the online course can teach us better than the regular one, the only advantage of it, is that we can stay at home and learn from there, and there is no need to go school. but as I know from my cousin, the online course doesn't offer the individual contact between student and teacher, which is really important! I also know that if we all study from home online, we will lose our contact with the schoolmates!

If you already have a stable job the motivation to continue studying is low (the reason many quit studies because they have a job already). Especially in IT sector, programming etc.
So unless they are some very specific courses that your employer ordered you to take to keep the job, the motivation will be realy low for a student to continue studying. IMHO with not physicially being at the university the motivation is even lower...

I'd rather go to school then an online course. I just don't think I would have the motivation to go and study online everyday. I would rather goof off than study online. I hear you have to do a lot mroe particiating online than an actual school So it's more time consuming with the online courses
