hi. with growing crime ,its natural to feel unsafe or scared . people choose the locality which is safe place to live or where crime rate is low. do you think where you live is safe place or you are afraid most of the time? do you keep any weapons to protect yourself? what measures you take for your security?

Living mountainous and rural I am not exposed to so much crime as if in a town or city but we have had bodies found not far from our home where someone drove 20 miles or so and dumped them. One about 6 years ago. But mostly there is not much crime. However there are other dangers from wildlife, cougar, bear, moose and weather than could freeze or cause us to be isolated for days on end. So though I feel fairly safe, there is danger most anywhere one lives in some regard.

I live in South Sacramento California. I really dont think it is safe here at all. They had a news story once. A home invasion happened not too far from where I live after they left there was a BABY in the car and they shot the poor baby. They never found the people. I have been wanting to move out of this area for so long now its driving me crazy.

When I was a lot younger, things were different and we didn't need to worry about locking doors and windows, and there seemed to be less crime and violence on the streets. These days, however, I make a point of ensuring all my doors and windows are locked, the car has an alarm and if I do go out at night, I make sure that I stay in a well lit area and have my mobile phone handy.
It's a sad fact of life that modern times have generated such a flood of street crime, with violence and disturbance an everyday ocurrence

being afraid is almost in the back of my mind whenever im in my neighborhood. sure i've had pretty bad experiences regarding safety. there was once when i was walking down our street late at night alone, i was punched at the back of my head. when i turned back to look who did it, i saw 4 guys walking just behind me and the guy who punched me was one of them. i'm not all muscular and all, but it got me really pissed off. but due to obvious reasons of being outnumbered, all i did was to continue walking to the direction where i was going, much faster than before. and whenever i see random people, i walk towards them so that the meanies wouldn't create any trouble when someone else is around. until i got home i was doing this. scary but it's already in the past.. i wouldn't want it to happen to me again..

Definitely no, I live in Rio de Janeiro. As many of you must know, Rio have high criminal rate, but despite this, I live my life normally. I don't feel totaly safe when I leave home to go someplace, all I have to do is beware myself by not walking alone on dark streets, not using expensive accessories and other things.

I feel safe where i live now, in SIbiu , but i felt safe in Valcea too . Valcea it`s my city , but in Sibiu i`m at college. Sibiu it`s a bigger city than Valcea , but it`s safe . I`m scared when i see more than 4-5 dogs , because they are dangerous . I`m much more scared for the dogs than other people that can make me something bad .

I definitely feel safe living here where I am at currently. Even back then when I used to live with my parents I felt safe as well. I have to say I consider myself lucky for having a safe place to live at. I am forever grateful for my parents and in-laws for giving me that.

A decade ago, my city was one known as the salvage area, that is, killers dump their victims here. Then came the mayor (who incidentally is running for Vice-President this May elections) who cleaned up our town and now, it is one of the safest cities in the Philippines. I am now proud to call myself a Marikeno. I am not scared to walk the streets here in at night. The problem is I work in another city (which has a spotty record in crime fighting) and so I have to hurry to leave the office. But when I come to my city, I feel safe again.

Yes, i feel my place is best and safe and well secured. We have all crime rates are under control. But generally its a practice we always have a biegel or named as whistel under our pillows. For safety, when we whistle it, its an alert and others come for help. We use well lock doors, alert alarms fixed to our gates and doors.

I feel safe where I life, even in middle of night its safe to woman to walk alone. I love my city very much. crime rate is low so I don't have to feel worry when going outside, but its better not to wear to much jewelery when you use public transportation. I don't keep weapon at home, the weapon itself make not comfort especially when you have kid at home, thats scary when they found it and play with it.

Usually Chinese people are so good and quite people. So i feel so safe here.
And i don't keep any weapons as i am safe here. More over i don't have any weapons.
I don't go outside alone usually and we have security guard in front our hostel.
I don't take any measure by myself.

every time i move out the first things i check or make sure is if the place is safe or not, coz even if its very cheaper but if the place is not that safe then no thanks, i will rather choose the expensive one as long as i know that i can be safe and i can sleep safely without thinking that maybe someone will going to harass me inside my room. besides my place is just near the main street. near school, church and hospital so theres always a cop paroling every night. you cant also see any beggar out side nor any people stay in one place along the street.

Well, in my country crime really rules. So we moved to a suburb near the mountains, where it is much easier for security to do their patrols. Our house looks like a prison, but that helps a bit. I don't feel safe, but weapons and security will have to do for now. TATA.

Yes, I feel safe where I live right now, I grew up in this house and its pretty secured for me. The neighborhood is safe as well, though I really can't be sure about that now because of the growing crimes everyday, but I can say that where I live is a lot safer than those of in the city. I'm living in a place where it is very peaceful and quiet.

Hi Ksmita, I am living in one of the state of India where militant groups are maximum. But I am living in colocny of my organisation, whereis security guards are always available at main gate, controlling who enters and leaves the organisation complex. So when in side colony, we feel very safe.
To take care of our Safety, we avoid going out late neight. If it is must to go out during night we go in big group. I do not keep any weapon for self security.
