Do you sleep off or take a small nap while traveling by any mode. I find it difficult to sleep even if traveling long distances by train, bus or air, though I may doze off for a couple of minutes- even for example while traveling by air or train when the lights are switched off and all go to sleep I either watch the seat- TV or read some book, papers, magazines which is always a must-to- carry while traveling.

If I travel and If it's my first time going there. I don't sleep. I just want to enjoy the scenery and look at what's new there. If I've been there a lot of times. I really do sleep.. hehehe.. I know that I'm with someone, I don't have to worry no more. I don't like reading like you do when on a bus.

I know what you mean about wanting to stay awake to enjoy the scenery, If on the way back I may doze off, but the way there I won't! I also don't like to read whilst traveling as it gives me a headache!

I can only sleep when I am confident that the driver is a good one and is responsible enough to bring us to our destination in 1 piece.

i sleep everyday in the car when my hubby drops me off and pick me up from work... and it really helps to rebuild my energy again after a hard day at work... when i travel in japan, i also sleep a lot on the train (shinkansen) when i was travelling between the cities... i just find it hard to sleep on the aeroplane no matter how hard i try... i guess i just feel not secure enough when i am floating in the air compare when i am on earth... :-) take care and have a nice day...

Well, if it's a boring bus trip or flight or whatever else that is not worth keeping myself awake, I would surely doze off to kill some time. But if I am on a trip through some really interesting and beautiful areas, then I would surely try to keep my eyes open for nice sights.

That is the beautiful thing of not learning how to drive. I get to sleep or watch movies during long travel.

there was a time when i was driving after work (i am working night shift by the way) and i just had 16 full hours of work on that time. man was i beat. during the course of my driving, i doze off to microsleep (i fall asleep for a second or two) then wake again. luckily i was able to arrive home safely. i don't want it to ever happen again because it's very scary and dangerous plus it's really hard to battle sleepiness when you're up for more than 16 hours and you're up during the night.

If I am very tired I do, yes, but on those rare occasions I travel I am usually too hyper-vigilant to relax. I don't like tightly packed places filled with crowds; I like to roam free, so intensely dislike travelling, on bus, train, as for planes...forget it!

I tend to fall asleep quickly while traveling. When I was little my parents would drive us around or push us in a stroller until we would fall asleep. I still fall asleep easily in a car when I'm not driving. I also fall asleep quite easily on planes and trains. Most buses are a bit difficult for me to sleep on for some reason.

I'd like to watch the views out of the window during traveling. It's really fresh and interesting. But sometimes I was just too tired to see the views. Then take a nap is a good choice.Anyway, just release ourselves when we are having a trip.Whether sleep or not is nothing to do with our happy mood.hehe....

I seldom sleep during the day trip except night one, sometimes take a small nap,it's really hard for me to sleep deeply on the bus/train,I'm afraid to miss the spot I go and drive to somewhere I don't familiar at all. Also,it's noisy on the journey and not so comfortable on the seat.Even in the car,my colleagues could sleep the next min. ,I'm unable to do that although I was so sleeply, could close my eyes, have a temperary rest, however, have a clear mind on what had happened around me.

Oh yes, I can go to sleep sometimes, while travelling. I don't know about planes but in trains and buses or even in my company cabs, I go to sleep.. Or I take a nap, I should say! On some rare occasions, I have been so fast asleep while travelling that I'd dreams in a moving bus... I know it sounds strange, but it has happened... These days, I don't sleep while travelling, don't know why! I feel sleepy sometimes, but don't go to sleep, especially if there is a beauty sitting beside me... LOL

I find it easy to sleep on a train in a comfortable compartment. I can sleep in less comfort on a bus seat. If I am on an overnight flight I can usually get some sleep and then wake up feeling achy. On a plane if the journey is smooth I can read a magazine. On a train in the daytime I like to look out of the window. In the evening on a train when it is dark I like to read a book. I feel travel sick if I read at anytime on a bus. I like to take a travel pillow to give me a lovely place to lay my head.

I may sleep but I usually stay awake unless I am tired. I don't read as it gives me a headache.

Yes, I do take small nap when traveling. I think that is one way of making use of the travel time wisely. Instead of doing nothing it is better to get some recharge by sleeping while on travel. I also do bring lots of reading materials especially if the travel would be long. Time is precious so I don't want wasted time. It is a waste of time for me to just sit on the bus or van and wait till I arrive in my place of destination. I always do find time to make my travel time productive.

It is also hard for me to sleep while on a moving vehicle. There are rare times though that I am able to sleep after a few hours. This only happens when I am super bored or when I lack sleep the previous night. Like you, I also have some magazines and novels to pass away the time. It is usually just me who is awake when I am traveling with family or friends. They all usually sleep the whole journey.

I'm like you, I doze abit here and there. Mostly because I am aware of everyone around me and don't want to wake to find myself robbed! My grandfather told me that he was robbed once on a train because he fell asleep with his jacket over him and someone stole his wallet. He then had no money for food or lodging and still had to work his new job for a week before he got paid. So I think that story stayed with me. I can sleep just fine if I am traveling with someone tho! Love to sleep on trains as they kinda rock you to sleep and I took a long train trip with a good friend so I felt safe. I tend to get airsick so have to keep taking meds every 4 hours max to keep from being really ill so that makes me much more aware. I might fall asleep for a few minuts and then wake to check my watch. And like you, I always bring a book and mags along to keep me busy.
