I have not had my hair professionally cut in several years. Lately I have been feeling a need for change so I scheduled an appointment with our local "beautician" today. I was so excited because I have heard from everyone that she is great. I wasnt sure what I wanted done with my hair so I told her that I just wanted something different. I told her that my hair was too long, too thick and too flat. I told her I wanted more shape and more volume. I put my hair and my trust in this woman' hands. That was my big mistake. I was stunned when she started cut my DRY hair. I have NEVER had a stylist cut hair while it was dry! I have been told that cutting dry hair can cause damage to the hair. I didnt say anything though because I just wanted to get the cut done. She only took an inch off the length and when I asked her to take more she said she would take more off the layers making it feel lighter. That sounded logical enough so I remained quiet. While in the middle of cutting my hair the woman gets a text message and STOPS cutting. She walks over to the counter, picks up her phone and texts someone, leaving me sitting there with hair in my face. I could NOT believe a "professional" could be so rude! She comes back (without apologizing) and finishes cutting my hair. She then grabbed a flat iron and proceeded to straighten my hair! What part of me saying I wanted more volume or me saying my hair was too flat did she NOT understand? She gets done , spins me around and asks what I think. I told her I didnt like it! It was too FLAT! So she starts cutting more off the top. SHe gets done again and asks what I thought, by now my daughter who was with me was looking a little apprehensive so I I just said it looks fine and stepped out of the chair. As soon as I got home I washed my hair (which brought the volume back) but I still dont like my hair. She is the only hair dresser in 20 miles and I am NOT going back to her. But I dont like my hair and want to get it redone! GRRRRRR Have you ever gotten a haircut you hated? What did you do about it?

Sorry to hear about your haircut horror and NO I've never heard a stylist cut dry hair either. Would you believe I haven't gone to professionally get my hair cut since I was about 15? And precisely for the same reason. Back then when I was 15 the "shag" or layered look was "hot" so decided to get my hair cut that style....just didn't work for me and felt like keeping a paper bag over my head until it grew out...LOL. All these years I've been cutting or trimming my own hair, that way if I screw up I have just me to blame

Hey wonttakelong! Don't even get me started on haircuts! I had a hair dresser who cut my hair sort of ok, but never great and it cost me a fortune and I never was thrilled! I have very curly, thin hair and she would cut it wet and blow it dry straight! Now, it looked great when she did it, but the next day when I washed it and had to deal with it that was a whole new issue! I blew it fast and wanted a simple "wash, blow and go" look! I had layers so it would supposedly look thicker! Anyway I got tired of it not looking right and people telling me I looked like a french poodle so I let the layers grow in! It took over a year! So, I decided to let it grow longer! I am too friggen old for scrawy long thin dark brown hair! Well, now I cut it myself because I am too freaked out to let anyone cut it again! So, now I have curly, thin, frizzy hair that I pull back on the sides and cut the top and front! Lovely picture huh? I still haven't figured out what to do about it now and it's been over two years! I just keep trimming it myself! And my boyfriend dyes it for me! Yup! I've lost my friggen mind! I used to say I'd rather go to the dentist then get my hair cut!

Always. They just don't listen. I feel like I need to ask for feed back to see if they understand what I'm saying but that would surely get their back up and I'd pay with a bad hair cut. I just can't win. I have course, thick, curly hair. It's very healthy hair but a challenge for most hairdressers to cut properly. They get bored or tired half way through the job. I can relate to your frustration and anger very well.

Yes, I had a horrible haircut once. I was on my way to my sister's wedding, and had made an appt with a hairdresser in her area, since I was going there to stay for the weekend. She lived really far up north, so I figured if I was going to get a new cut I may as well pay her to style it really well for the wedding as well. BIG MISTAKE! I gave her a picture of ME with MY HAIR the way I wanted it and she chopped ALL my hair off and gave me a 'bunty' cut. I don't know what to call it, but it certainly wasn't fixable by ANYBODY, since the only solution was to wait for it to grow out and have it cut properly again much, much later. Suffice to say I did not pay for the hair cut and I was very, very upset about it. I have never had my hair that short before and will never ever again, either.

Yes, I do know whats its like to get a bad hair cut. It really sticks you out from the crowd. Plus you don't really need to be showed off like that. Then all my friends and family would make fun of me for having such a bad hairdo. I think it would be best to just move on and get a new barber for me.

Sometimes I wonder where do that hairdressers get their license. I have had bad experiences with most of the hairsalons I have gone to, so I learned to cut it by myself in order to avoid going . However, short ago I found a nice hairsalon, and I always get my hair done by the same person. He understands well how do I like my hair, so I can never be dissapointed I find amazingly rude to stop in the middle of a haircut to look at your phone

Like you I haven't had a professional cut my hair in years, probably about 15 years. I'm always worried about not liking my cut. I just trim the ends every so often. I do need a new cut though. It takes forever for my hair to grow so once it's gone it's gone. Hopefully your hair grows fast and you can have it fixed up some more after it grows back

I agree that a bad hair cut will result in a bad mood. This happened to me once. I cut my long hair and decided to go for perming. I thoght permed hair will look good on me, but the effect disppointed me. I paid around 70 dollars for perming, but the result was not good. Also, the perming effect lasted only for 4-5 months even though they said that it was permanent perming.

hehe... chill wonttakelong... hmm... there was one time i went to two different hair dresser in a day. I used to have very long hair, but i wanted to do something different so i decided to have it cut really short. After giving instructions to the stylist, she immediately got to work. while still cutting i told her to shorten it more... she said ok but did not do as i asked. she even told me that it would be a waste to cut more... then after, since i wasn't really satisfied, i looked for another shop and took another hair cut... haha... that was when i felt really happy... hmm.. you'd have trouble with that i suppose, since she's the only one in 20 miles... Good luck...

I am sorry that you had a bad experience. Your stylist doesn't sound very professional and I have never heard of someone dry cutting hair. I have the worst luck with hair cuts and I have visitied different stylists and salons. No matter what I say or how long I say I want it they always end up cutting my hair shorter than I wanted it. I remember the worst one I ever had I told the girl I wanted my hair to my shoulders and she cut it to my chin! I also asked for long layers and she cut them halfway up my head. I had to pay £35 and wait months for my hair to grow out and it looked so akward and disgusting whilst is was growing out. I always end up freaking out before I go to get my hair cut, I don't think I've ever had a haircut I have ever really liked and end up having to grow them back out.

Certainly I have experienced this condition,it is a so boring thing, you hair is destroied because of the careless of the stylist! But you should have a good mindset to this, the hair can also grow longer,so you needn't too sad or annoy about this!

Hi friend, I'm so sorry to hear about your haircut. I can relate, coz I've been in that situation a lot of times. My hairstylist won't listen to what I like and just go ahead with what he "likes." I often had a lot of "misunderstandings" with hairstylists because they always insist their way. If he/she can't listen to you, then just ditch him/her and find a new hairstylist. I had my fair share of poorly cut hair which I hated. It's a big deal to me, because hair is considered our crowning glory for us girls. So better invest with quality hair products and a good and professional hairstylist. What I did in the midst of my poor haircut, I put it in a ponytail most of the time or use headbands and bandannas to cover up the flaw. I cheered myself up by thinking it is only temporary and hair would grow back, just patiently wait. and by that time, go to a better stylist to fix your hair and give you the haircut you love.

For those who really know me, know well how much I care about my hair. I rarely was happy about my haircut in the past and for that reason I've changed many barbers. So I can really understand what you are feeling, for me having a bad haircut definitely means I will be upset all day long and anytime again I watch myself in the mirror, I lucky found a barber where I have being going now for about 3 years and I am always very happy about the result, It may take time for you to find the one that can make you happy but eventually you will. Don't go again there if you didn't like the result and try to find a good one that is good for you and not by fame. Good luck.
