When you're Heart Broken do you cut your hair?

I remember with my previous relationships, every time it ended I always go to the parlor/ saloon. Either I'll cut my hair, have a spa, or have my nails done: just to ease the pain and believe that I'm way better off without them. Sounds bitter, but I'd rather do that than lock myself in the room and cry. It will only look me worse.. lol!
How about you? How do you divert your pain to look better? Happy MyLotting!!!

hello sexyposh,
i guess there's a lot of women doing things like that. but all i know is that usually when we are being dumped, all we wanted is to look better and prove the stupid bf that he's wrong when he dumped us! hehe
me? i just let it pass, even if i don't go to the parlor or what, i still make my self feel & look good and i go out more with my friends...i don't usually think about those break ups.

I find many girls like do the thing you are doing. My friend Cici kept her hair for three years and pround of her beautiful black hair. Then ,one day, she cut it beacuse her boyfriend left her. When she went out of the saloon, she said"my new life is waiting for me,I can find my prince charming. Never give up." She is a brave girl.I will not do such thing if I were her,I choose to eat spicy food. When I eat up,I will feel good.

This happened to me once. When I was so heart broken because of a rude comment from my mother, I decided to cut my hair because I knew that my mother liked my hair. I had very long straight hair which went till my knee. I cut it to sholders.I felt very relaxing after cutting the hair. I also went for perming the same day. When I was back to my house, my roommate said that cutting hair will help girls to come out of some depression.

That's a good thing to do, like me, I will rather spent my day in the salon than stay inside my room and cry for a stupid person. I havent experience cutting my hair because I am broken hearted, but when i get depressed, I cut my hair the shorter as it can be. It is my way to ease my feeling. When i am broken hearted, I just go out with friends and eat foods that are expensive.

Ahh yes, pigging out to expensive restaurant or fastfood chain would be a great idea.. But I haven't tried it though. Usually when I'm depress I go to the parlor or spend most of my time with my friends which I usually forgot when I'm in a relationship.

Wow, your method is amazing! I admire people who can find a distraction instead of just getting depressed.
Unfortunately, I'm the kind who feels too depressed to do anything, so I have never tried going to the hair salon. Maybe if there's a next time I'll try a SPA I hope there's no next time though...

Yes, I also belive that going to the spas helps you unwind and feel good about yourself. But I just realize that going to these are just one of the factors on how to move on. It really depends on you on how you will go on with your life without your partner.

A new look sounds cool but make sure it brings out the best in you and not the other way around. I haven't been into a romantic relationship since birth. But, everytime I get depressed, I drink or eat a lot.

Lol! yes drinking is fun too. I remember, when my bf broke up with me, I ask my friends to accompany in my drinking session. Well we all get wasted, we laugh and drink like there's no tomorrow. It really felt good, but when I woke up the next morning my head hurts soooooo bad!

As far as I know every time I had a break up with an ex I usually go to the gym or do some exercises to make me feel better and in the process make me look better. It always works for me and it does help me pick myself up from a bad break up. I also tend to buy new clothes and change the way I look in a good way after a break up.

Ahh yes! Shopping also helps. I read somewhere that shopping is also a therapy of feeling good about ourselves. Because its the only time that no one is dictating us when we buy our stuff... I like also the idea of the gym but usually didn't work for me. I easily get tired or most of the time, I get too lazy... So it end up I go to the parlor to pamper myself..

Not only cutting per se. Maybe considering coloring your hair as well. If your badtrip with your ex and then your is already short, if that happen to me, probably I'll do my nails or color or anything that my money can afford. I believe there are a lot of services that the parlor has to offer aside from cutting, don't you think? :)

I have cut my hair over relationships and other pivotal changes in my life. It gives me a fresh beginning at the time and I always feel ready to move on. I say if it makes you feel better, then do it. It will grow back and it's your hair!!

Yes! That's exactly what my intention why I cut my hair every after break ups, to have a new beginning. It really feels good after a new do. Plus people will notice it and they will compliment you. Then you'll realize, everything's going to be alright.

hi sexyposh
welcome to mylot
Cutting hair, locking oneself in a room might be a way to release one's stress or emotion, sadness etc lol, but what even may be the reason i will never cut my hair, it is my prized possesion, my hairs are thick and knee length, i trim the tips once a moth as per my mom's advice when i was a little girl..
Thanks for sharing
Cheers.
God bless you, have a nice day ahead.

Knee high?!!! Wow, how much shampoo are you using? Well, I understand I guess that's your custom that having long hair is an asset. Now I begun to get curious... How were you able to manage your hair? I mean, do you alway wear it down or up? How long do you wash your hair? Gosh so many questions are formulating in my mind right now..

I do that too, cut my hair and pamper myself or make myself beautiful lol. sometimes i cried when pain revisits me once again.
I sometimes pour out my feelings of hurt by writing a poem. but if i can't take the pain anymore I pray to God to take away the pain because i couldn't bear it. Then I do some shopping and go out with friends or read some books.
But if the pain still fresh, I'll stop all communication for a week to a month. I'd like to vanish and go to a province to be alone. I called it vanishing act.

I wish I could do the same, the vanishing act! LOL.. But I can't afford to be away for a long time because my job needs me and I need my job. LOL! Its also a great way to ease the pain to be away also, like a diversion. Atleast you'll be away with your usual ways that will only remind you of your past love.

I never realized that I actually did cut my hair short then when I got my heart broken until I read this, I just don't know maybe it's just a natural reaction in our subconscious mind to put and exert those pent up emotions to our hair, or just that; to get a new look, new hairstyle and hopefully a new love...?

I once did cutting my hair when my heart was broke. But after it, I realized I should have done it since I consider my hair as my asset. From then on, everytime I got my heart break, I go to the parlor, not to cut my hair, but to make myself more beautiful as ever.

In my observation, most girls usually makes an effort to look better after a break up.
To me it is a form of coping, that you need to feel good about yourself after having to go through pain.
I was dumped before and I hardly mope. I pampered myself, had a perm and changed the color of my hair. I've never been more beautiful than after a breakup.
After that I met a man who would later become my husband.

Now that's the sweetest! I mean, how are you suppose to meet new one if you look haggard, right? Revamping yourself really invites good energy, because you already feel good about yourself because you do something good for your self- that is pampering. It really is so nice reading comments sharing their experience.

Nice! I think that is okey too. It really depends on how you react with the situation, some would shop 'til they drop, some would go emo, some would lock up in their room and cry, etc. And me, I am also a mediocre I go to parlor to make myself beautiful and feel good about myself.
