Which brand of laptop do you like the best? -Toshiba -Gateway -Dell -HP -Acer -Aspire I like Dell, because I just ordered one last night, a Dell Studio 17. I have a Gateway, but it's too slow, and the monitor is taped together so it doesn't fall off, it freezes, and my ipod won't connect to it. I had a Toshiba but I can't get to turn on, I think it fried from a power surge, so now I have surge protector. Any advice or opinions?

I like my iBook G4 a lot, but I hear Toshiba is nice. And Acer has gotten bad consumer reviews.

Same with me .... hate acer .... not the brand name ... but its product ... bought laptop in june last year been sent to the service centre twice for the same problem. The processing and benchmark also very low compared with other laptop with the same spec. Should have bought HP or dell .... but I prefer Viao the most ... for its aesthetic design.

My laptop is a Gateway & I've not experienced the problems you outlined. Maybe it's because I don't use my laptop the same way you use yours that makes the difference. I've always heard that Acer & Aspire are brands to avoid so I did. I've been really happy with my Gateway! & I've had it almost a year & a half.!!

Yes, I understand what you mean!!! Except for how you drop it by accident & don't remember it. I tripped over the power cord on mine once when my Mom was in the hospital. I just knew it would never work again!!! I was lucky & it didn't break!!!

Well, I dropped mine on accident, but i don't remember dropping it, but the way it looks, it looks like someone definitely dropped it. I'm very thankful that it actually works and it's not super duper slow. Do ya know what I mean?

I love using Mac computers mainly just because of how smoothly they run. I hate having to wait for Windows to start up on any normal PC. I can't wait for the new IPAD to come out. Have you seen the specs on that thing?! Apple is always finding ways to step up the competition and so far they are giving Microsoft a run for their money.

Yay! I love Macs too xD That is so true (about the smoothness), because on Windows laptops you have to wait 2-10 minutes before it's ready to use (only when sleeping). On mac you just open it and use it right away :D I loooove the iPad! I have seen the specs of it and I just love it!!! AppleMicrosoft

I think IBM is one of the best laptop. My laptop is Dell. I think it is also a good brand. Perhaps its quality can not compare to IBM, but Dell's price is very reasonable. And its quality is not bad anyway. This is why I bought Dell at last. I love China

as laptop brands normally i like few ones such as hp,dell,sony-vaio,ibm/lenovo!!In reality dell systems are ok and even prices are good but from dell i like more their high-end pc on the alienware brands they seemed really pwoerful and have original design!!Hp normally are good pc and also longlife ..as regards sony they are nice externally but you must be careful about different configuration because in some cases they are not as good as we thought!!Ibm/lenovo in my opinion has good systems for business purposes usually!!

How many people that many opinions. I currently own gateway netbook and after 5 months have no complaints about it. I could not afford a laptop computer after my hp broke down. I had problems with hp almost since the begining, so I can't say this is my favorite, even though until that time I always thought that was a good brand. I only had hp for less than 3 years, just after 1 year warranty expired I had issues with wireless adapter. They still were able to fix it at no charge as it was a defect in those models, but after a while it was happening again and this time I would have to pay. I decided not to proceed and in order to connect to internet I had to use cable. That's it for being mobile with a laptop... Soon after graphic card went down and finally I gave up. Since the motherboard would have to be exchanged it would be way too costly, so I got myself netbook just to have access to internet.

I like the MSI note book as it is light easy to store aswell as it has blue tooth and all the other extras that you can get.I think that alot of people like me got the MSI as it was alot cheaper than all the other lap tops aswell as note books, but to be honest it is better than the ones my children have got and theirs are alot more expensive.

For price and reliability would be Acer, but the design and quality it would be DELL. I have been using a acer laptop for more than 3 years runs like a beast, not had any problems with it yet which i myself could not fix. So cheers for ACER !!!

Hi Jenbug421, I don't have any brand laptop that you mentioned above. I used local vendor and brand' laptop. I thought i cannot depend on brand but also quality of component that i used, if i assemble the components that same with brand laptop, it's good so i can make cost effective for it. :) For your problem, if you are in guaranteed time you must contact the vendor and service it. Don't choose wrong component, it can be problems in future.

Well... None of those actually, but I think that you should try a Mac laptop (MacBook for example). They are really great, and don't even cost that much. Mostly it's the Apple brand and the OS which cost in it. But it won't even cost so much because Macs can be used for so long. This computer I'm using is a 7 years old MacBook. Or I think it's 7 years at least. But anyway... Get a Mac! ...or not xD

I know a guy who's worked for Geek Squad at Best Buy for many years, and he says HP and Toshiba are both good.
