initially, i go for Nonoy, because he SEEMED the BEARING of a person with right values and morale. however, after research and listening to opinions and discussion i am now CONTEMPLATING on choosing Gordon instead.
ask me why?
i need your point of views and opinion, let us talk about this before we make a final decision, it matters to our country and to our people.

I will vote for Gordon simply because he finishes his projects. He's not like most politicians that makes empty promises. It's like money earning sites.. you need proof that payments were done :) Achievements on previous office is the best proof for these candidates.
But if Gordon cannot reach up to Noynoy VS Villar arena, I might as well vote for Villar. Corrupt or not, he still have projects done that helps Filipinos.
As long as the government can do it's job for the citizen, it doesn't matter whether the government is corrupt or not.
Well.. this is my thoughts.. fell free to comment on ;) maybe you can enlighten me if you think I'm crazy from thinking this way =)

i don;t think you are crazy b3, as a matter of fact you are very sensible.
you are correct that Gordon simply finishes his projects and does not make an empty promises. he MOVES, literally and figuratively. that's what we NEED.
however, i would like to disagree in this point "as long as the ..., it doesn't matter whether the gov't is corrupt or not." to me it really matters, because progress can be evident in our country if the money is used wisely by the government and for the people where it governs. i paid my taxes wholehearted so it really matter to me where my taxes go because i earned it in an honest way.
lastly, i hope you'll go for your first choice.
God Bless you...

thanks!
anyway, about this corrupt thing.. look at the marcos regime, prices are controlled, everything is controlled, even $ = PHP controlled, and only the president is corrupt. Look at what we have now, most of the government peeps are corrupt. What filipinos need is someone to control them, we tasted FREEDOM after EDSA 1, and we abused its power. We're like a child that has a very lenient parent, we're spoiled brats. What I'm saying here is that what we need is a government that has a little bit of marcos and a little bit of aquino. We're all hard-headed already, a little bit of an iron hand is what we need to soften our heads a little. So corrupt or not, just do what he needs to do to uplift the country, and he's okay with me. Just remove the martial law thing, I don't want to spend my weekend nights at home and not out in bars hanging out with friends ;)

others said that we cannot simply elect somebody who rise from the shadow of someone else.
i initially choose Noynoy for simple reasons as you have, but then i realized, what we need is somebody who has a strong leadership skills, who's strict but can lead us to shape ourselves and on the process shape the nation. somebody who is credible and whose track records speaks for himself.
i am afraid if Noynoy will become a president he will experience the same thing his mother experienced during her term - coup de tat remember? Honesty ALONE cannot bring us to progress we envision our country to experience, i think what we need is a STRONG POLITICAL WILL AND LEADERSHIP - which i see in Gordon. Look at Olonggapo now, from sin city to a progressive one. and the tourism industry during Gordon's term.
my view, you may disagree...
thanks for the post mike
take care

Many people think who is our president.. who among them is the best choice.. I think many of us until now can't choose who is our future president.. I think nonoy will continue this work from his grand ancestors. I am very positive that he will be a good leader and be our hope for the nations. they are not corrupt we know the backgrounds of their family. Me and my family is go for noy noy.

hi missy,
thanks for the response.
i like very much the last words you have quoted there, it truly speaks that FILIPINO ARE WORTH DYING FOR...
however, i would like to point this out, while Noynoy YES is an honest man, he came from an honest family, from an principled father and a defender of peoples freedom, and mother who became an icon of democracy - but those are the legacy of his PARENTS and NOT HIS. My choosing a president lead me to this fact - from congress to senate HE DOES NOT HAVE ANY SINGLE BILL PASSED while in position. what does that speak of him?
sorry to disagree, just point out some view...
peace

I am also against corruption. I also hate corruption. I can see it ruining our country like a dreaded cancer. But we need now is a leader... a very wise leader... not a vocal activist who is good only in talking and echoing the chant of his parents! What we need now is a leader. A modeling leader. A negotiating leader. An empowering leader. A persuading leader. A leader with soft strategy to curb corruption. A leader who can handle this old-time-but-still-powerful-corrupt-local-leaders tactfully. The truth is, corruption cannot be eliminated from this country. I am sorry to say that. What a leader needs to do is be a MEDIATOR for these evil "deeply-rooted-to-their-positions-and-power" and the people. Noynoy's stand against corruption is somewhat terrifying because it means he is going against the flow.. against a powerful flow!
To give you an example, during the Ramos Admin., there are some rumors that his admin. as marred with widespread corruption. But it is also during Ramos admin that the Philippines achieved tremendous economic growth and it is also during his time that the Philippines was eventually recognized as a "Tiger Economy" in Asia. No coup de tat, no revolution. No troubles.
I read a column more than 10 years ago in the Phil. Star Newspaper written by the late Max Soliven (the editor in chief of the Phil. Star). He praised then Defense Secretary Orly Mercado and Pres. Joseph Estrada for not allowing the purchase of defective military equipments from well-known suppliers from Europe and US. He saluted the two gov't. officials for taking the stand against those corrupt people (including those corrupt local counterparts). But Manong Max then was afraid of the remarks of the foreigners "Let's wait til we remove Estrada from his office, we will eventually deal this armaments after he's gone". You know what happened next? After a year, Estrada (and including Mercado) were removed through a popularized EDSA Dos revolution!
If Noynoy become president, then expect the unexpected.

Observing the conversations in gatherings of local officials here in our place (1st district of Cam Sur), I heard lines like "Ano gusto nyo, kurakot pero may project, o hindi kurakot pero walang project?". Let's admit this, the progress that this world have achieved, the progress this capitalism have achieved, can be attributed to individual's "controlled selfish motivation". Selfish motivation, but controlled. Suppressing "selfish motivation" in every person is like communism and socialism which we have seen have failed miserably in USSR. Capitalism triumphed. Because, in every person, the "What's in it for me" is naturally present. Let's admit this, most Filipinos running for public office is not really running to serve the people alone but in partial, they want to have something out of it. It's no longer public service. It's now a business. Capitalism merged with public service. Yes, it is true, this should not happen. But it's already happening! What can you do about it? Will you fight against it "head-on"? That's why we need a "leader". When we said "leader", someone who can make good people and evil people follow him in a peaceful manner. A subtle leader. A leader full of techniques on how to tame meek lambs and wild foxes. A powerful "bad but good" leader described in the red book 48 Laws of Power...
Having said all these, I'll vote for Villar. :)
