Would you take an OTX survey just for sweepstakes entries?

I've noticed that lately Global Test Market has been sending me links to take OTX surveys rewarded only with sweepstakes entries. To be fair, GTM seems to be giving several entries for each survey taken. However, I can't imagine going through all the trouble that OTX puts you through (you typically have to go through several surveys to find one you qualify for and often have to answer a lot of prescreening questions) just for the chance of winning something. Is anyone doing these surveys just for sweepstakes entries? Do you think it is fair compensation?

Nope I wouldn't do it. It seems to be a new trend that many of the market research companies are putting in place. Since I know none of the other folks, I always am left wondering if anyone ever really wins. Pessimistic maybe. I have found that there are plenty of market research sites that are willing to pay so why give them valuable time when you are likely to get nothing for it? I'm a member of several good sites if you want to expand those that you do work for. And I do consider it work even if it's only 20 minutes of my life...LOL. Take care!

I've had that thought, "Does anyone ever really win?" before too. I guess we're both pessimistic! Hopefully by supporting the surveys that pay the sites will get the clue that we don't want to do sweepstakes-only surveys. There must be some people who like to do them, though, or they wouldn't exist at all.

It does seem like a new trend... thing is... people will stop doing the surveys cause we loose the money, then the survey client won't get the info they want/need and take their business elsewhere...they loose too. Kind of like this recent "recession". Resturants had their meals at (example) $10 a meal, and when people stopped dining due to the tight squeeze on their money, the resturant raised the price of the meals to $13. Well, if folks couldn't afford $10, they sure can't afford $13. They should have lowered the price a bit and more would have been able to afford it and more would have come to dine!

When I first started doing surveys about 4 years ago I used to do all of them, even the ones that said "chance to win cash and prizes". Then I got wise and only do the ones that where you are compensated in cash. So no, not on your life would you catch me doing an OTX survey. When I go to Opinion Outpost or another survey site like SurveySpot and it ends up at OTX, I close the window and move on. They will not get me again sitting at my computer doing pre-screen questionnaire and pre-screen questionnaire for 40 minutes! They are the biggest waste of time and for what "a chance" that I might win. Big deal! Sincerely in Christ, Leesa C. Eph.2:8,9

I was a lot more "open-minded" about sweepstakes surveys when I started, too. I remember I used to do just about every survey SurveySpot sent my way. If I'd won a sweepstakes back then, I might still be doing them!

Thats pretty much how I do it. Even those that pay - 50 cents for 20 minutes I won't bother with anymore. I used to do them, cause I got qualified, but the last 6 months.. I dont'qualify for anything and no, I'm not sitting there for 20 mintues when I am pretty sure I won't "qualify".

Yep, I noticed that with GTM sometime ago. For the length of time surveys on there can last, I find the idea of being entered into a sweepstake offputting. If anything, a sweepstake should be offered IN ADDITION TO marketpoints.

GTM have changed things. You used to be able to earn a reasonable amount of market points, but now they often enter you into a prize draw instead of rewarding you with points. So, in my view, it's not a good site to earn with and I wouldn't call it fun.

Yeah, old GTM isn't what it used to be. At least they do still send paying surveys also...it's just going to take that much longer to reach cashout. Unfortunately, even at their best they were just a once a year payer for me!

No. I don't do them for sweepstakes or drawings. Like you said... you have to answer tons of questions and then get an entry to a drawing that odds are you aren't going to win? No, I put my efforts elsewhere. I never have done surveys for drawings/sweepstakes. To much work for no reward. I haven't heard of anyone that has won something like that. Greenfield was big on these and I never did them there unless they were only a 5 mintuer or something and that was only to keep in the loop to maybe get more money payers. Tuluna, now has Greenfield, and not only do they have these, but the others are low payers now and I have done so many for 15 minutes and then been told I don't qualify so I am stopping Tuluna now.

I actually do feel better when I get a sweepstakes entry after I DON'T qualify for a survey...it's a booby prize that makes me feel like I haven't wasted my time entirely even though I probably have. I'm sure the survey companies realize that and that's why they give them. To take a survey where the BEST that can happen is I get a chance to win something, though, is REALLY unmotivating!

I started skipping over any surveys that offer me a sweepstakes entry. The OTX surveys always take forver to complete. I've actually been finding myself ignoring any surveys that have to do with OTX. They are always a nightmare. So now, I don't think a sweepstakes entry is fair and I'll just pass that survey right by.

Greenfield was like that... very occasionally there'd be one for cash and I'd do it and qualify and get paid, but they also had the sweeps only and I didn't spend the time. Im sorry but that is a lot of time to "work" and only get in a drawing with hundreds of others. I would do the sweeps that were only 10 mintues, just to keep in "good" with the site, but then they started doing more "sweeps only" and no cash ones... and I think most did as I did and didn't do the sweeps and that might have been why they were "consumed" by Tuluna. You have to give the people something to stay for. Even those that did sweeps...will only do so many and not win before they stop. Tuluna now has Greenfield and for the last 2 months.. I haven't qualified for any surveys!!! So I am stopping working the site. They send out alot of offers, but either sweeps or I don't qualify. Either way.. I ain't making any money!

No I don't believe is a fair compensation because the money is not guarantee. I was hopping that GMT gives you points instead of the sweepstake entries.

They do still give you points for some surveys so GTM isn't a sweepstakes only site yet. I just skip the ones that only offer entries for sweepstakes!

I wouldn't take a survey just for an entry into a sweepstakes. I prefer knowing that I will get something for my work, albeit something smaller, than only getting the chance of winning a prize.

I entirely agree. With sweepstakes, you know that chances are you're not going to be the winner. If you get something for your time, that's an amount you can put towards a bill, save, invest, etc. Sweepstakes are wonderful if you win, but a waste of time if you lose...and you usually lose!

My honest thoughts? No way. Often surveys are SO long. And I feel that I have no good luck when it comes to sweepstakes like that. I mean think about the 1000s of people that are being signed up for the same sweepstakes and only one person will win. When I'm doing a survey I want to be compensated by money or points or something along those lines. Where I know I'm actually getting something for my time!

I've had no luck with sweepstakes either. I've been a survey taker for at least three years and have never won anything...not even one of SurveySavvy's monthly $10 awards! So I'm definitely wary of putting in much time for just a chance to win.
