First of all Gissi is doing better, his breathing is better, he also has been up to little Mischief lol
He does tire easily but I guess that is normal, he does get the odd Breathing attack but I know how to handle them now
Now to get to my little Hero
Where I live now, there is a big Field about 5 minute walk away, well 5 minutes for me lol, for someone who is able to walk and breathe properly it would be 2 minutes
Every Morning I take the little Man there, he loves it, also all the Dogs get on great
We arrived there this morning, there where some owners with their Dogs on the actual Field talking, I was to tired to walk over so stayed where I was
Gissi ran cross, they all know him, said his Hellos to all his Doggie Friends, including the Yorkie Lady he has taken a fancy to, but she would have none of Gissi's tactics
She is smaller then Gissi lol b ut she sorts him out, there where also Tom and the Puppy Greyhound and another big Dog, then Gissi trotted of his own little way
He was quite a Distance but I knew he would come back as soon as I called
I am standing there watching him, when the other Big Dog started barking at me, he was quite a distance away from me and it was not a nasty bark, I went to check on Gissi, and goodness, he was charging over to me, looked at me, then ran across to the Big Dog stood in front of him and barked at him like mad, the Dog looked at Gissi, Gissi barked again, the Dog ran back to it's owner, Gissi stood watching him, he then ran back to me and stayed close, I was so amazed at this, I mean I know I was in no danger as the Dog was just barking nothing else, but my little Hero here came to my Defence anyway lol, he then decided that we where going home, of course I had to stop him and make him sit as with all that he could not breathe properly, once I calmed him we slowly walked home
Of course the little Man was as proud as punch lol, walked with his head high and tail wagging
I know I was not in Danger but I was so proud of my little Gissi
I mean would you expect a small Dog to take on a big Dog like that?

What a wonderful story sweetie! and that is a story of love which obviously holds no bounds as to the love each of you has for the other, you'd do anything for Gissi and likewise Gissi would do anything for you. I am sure he was proud too and so he should be, he stood up to the bully and won and there's a moral to that too, just because you are small don't mean you haven't got fire in your belly and a big heart. Go Gissi you showed that dog and we are all very very proud of you. Extra Wolfie hugs xxxx

I am proud of him as well. However it is not unusual for small dogs to face up to large dogs. I have to be careful as my three know no fear and they will be the ones to start trouble with large dogs.
It is good to hear you found a nice place to take Gissi to play not far from home.

Hi Minx
It is good to see you no Gissi is not to good it has been one thing after another, the Vet has told me that he believes Gissi is 8-10 years old, with what is going appears mainly in older Dogs from that age with his heart being enlarged and having a Heart Murmur they are worried it will take it out of him, so they have told me to prepare for the worse, as his Heart could give any time, it shook me up badly but I am determent that this little Man is with me for years and I guess so is he
But he does get tired easy

would you expect a small Dog to take on a big Dog like that? NO.
Would I expect GISSI to take on a big dog like that? YES! Gissi would take on anything and anyone to protect his beloved Mum.
Well done, Gissi!

Hi Auntie Cloud
That Dog was not talking nice to Mum so I had to tell him to mind his Manners, as long as I am about no Dog will talk to Mum with no manners, I mean I know I sometimes forget my Manners but she is my Mum
The breathing bit was a bit tough though, but Mum rubbed me for a while and it got better
Love you Auntie Cloud ...... your little Nephew Gissi

I am so relieved to hear that Gissi is feeling much better now Gabs. Let's hope he stays that way.
So now you have seen another side to Gissi, and it has made you so proud of him for coming to your "defense", even though you knew you were in no danger from that big dog! How sweet! In spite of his size, Gissi was very brave protecting you!
Our Penny was the same - she would have a go at a Rottweiler if it came anywhere near us or Poppy - it didn't matter to her that it was 10 times bigger, she would stand her ground and bark like crazy; funny thing is - the big dog would always go running!
These little dogs might have a small body, but a HUGE ego! Hugs xx

Gissi told me he met his match the Day he took them for a ride in his Car
I am also glad he is better again, I really hope he stays this way now I really do
Lets put it this way I am already getting cheek again lol
Hugs xxxx

Oh Sweetz I am Soooooooo happy to hear that Gissi is feeling better!!and that story was just too cute. Katie (our shih-tzu) has done stuff like that. She even stood up to a great dane that was like 5 times her size because it was walking over to Angelina. Katie stood right in front of Angelina and barked and growled until the great dane went back to it's owner! That was the first and only time I have ever heard Katie growl and show her teeth because she was mad!

That precious pooch! Such a little hero and I hope you gave him a little treat for his valiant approach! He told that dog what for did he not! I don't remember the story completely but let me try to tell it the best I can remember.
My mom had a dog named Rusty and one named popcorn. Rusty and another dog got into a fight, and rusty was killed. Popcorn was not a happy pooch and later (not sure how much later but I think a great deal later if any later at all, I can't rememebr exactly the story) he saw the dog and kicked the dog's butt! He killed the other dog I think, and though Rusty was already gone (again if I remember the story correctly) popcorn was not going to let the dog who did it get away.
Rusty was a chihuahua I think mix, there's a picture of him at my mama's house somewehre I think. Popcorn was a bigger dog, I can't remember if he was the dalmation or not though.
I hope Gissi gets better, for all his little troubles he wasn't going to let anything happen to his mama!

I cried writing it but it happened when my mom was younger, and I don't even think I was thought about then.
What kind of treats do you feed him? We have all sorts of treats for our chihuahua's they are never satisfied.

Gabs, Gissi is quite an exceptional little fella! The thing with small dogs is that they have no idea that they're small. It never enters their little brains. My girls (5 and 7 pounds) take on the larger dogs in our neighborhood as well as the geese and anything else that shows it's presence (even if they're across the lake).
I always laugh at my girls when they're bad-mouthing something larger than them. I can almost hear them saying, "Come on over this way and I'll tear up your ankles!" Yep, no ankles are safe with them around.
That is such a sweet story and you always tell them so well. I always feel like I'm right there, witnessing Gissi's antics. His actions definitely say that he loves you very much. He's your hero, your knight in furry armour. I'm VERY happy to hear that he's feeling a bit better than he was. I hope he's up to his normal Gissi self before too long.

Hi Marti
You do not know how relieved I am to have him back, the way he is breathing that Day and the couple of Days after really scared me
I know he is a very sick little Dog but hey my Son told me that Gissi is a strong little Trouper and that is what Gissi is
Yes he gets these attacks when he over does things and he gets tired easy to but we can deal with that
He already gave me some cheek today lol
It looks so cute when the little ones do that lol
Your Girls are beautiful and Gissi thinks so to

I was just wondering, when Gissi has these breathing attacks, are they sort of like an asthma attack? Does it sound like he's struggling to get air into his lungs and kinda fast?
This thought crossed my mind because both of my girls have this problem and I've had a few other small dogs who have also had this problem. A vet I took one of my dogs to many years ago told me that this is something they call the "little dog syndrome" because it typically affects small dogs as they often have under-developed esophaguses.
It sounds awful when it happens and I'm always trying to calm my girls down when it happens to them because they seem so frightened. Every time it happens, they've just had some excitement so I think there's a connection there but it's not their hearts because I've had them checked and their hearts are fine.
Just wondering.
I'm SOOOO glad to hear that Gissi has been up to mischief and giving you more cheek today. That says he's feeling so much better.

Hey Gabs! Now that sounds like the "old Gissi again"! He sounds
like he is feeling much better now! I know he is still not
completely well, but it sounds like he is full of "piss and
vinegar" as they say! He is such a little angel/devil!
I still am praying that he will get better and stronger everyday!
We all love him so much and his cousins, Star and Luna have been
so worried about him, as I have too! And, as for you, Missy, you
need to take care of yourself too! We love you both so much, as
you already know! Sending you much love and prayers, Leslie and "the boys"

This is one perfect example of how much our babies love us and will do for us. Gizzi deserves a nice treat after that.
I have had big and tiny dogs throughout my lifetime. I now have 3 tiny ones and one huge boy. I have found that my little ones are just as honorable and brave as the big ones.
It's something how they command respect from the larger ones....but they do!
What they lack in size they have in spirit, will power, and guts.
Hugs to you and Gissi.

lol, we have our babies and they have us too. I know my life is fulfilled because of them. I am one of these people that must have a baby in my life. Right now I have 4 even though one of them is my sons but he lives with me. Hang in there with Gissi. You too make a good pair, lol.
Love to you two and hugs too.

my son says all small dogs believe they are big dogs. coconut is the same way as gissi, she will bark at and stave off the biggest dog. she also does not reserve her com-uppence to dogs i saw her try to get at a horse out on my daughters farm a few times. the horse just looked at her from behind the fence like she was out of her mind. i had to hold her leash tight to keep her from under the fence. some times the big hounds out there would run from her.

Haha, wow.
It's pretty incredible how many animals manage to stand up for themselves. I'd never expect such a small dog to be able to do something like that.
I'm glad to hear that his breathing is all better, too! :)
