I seldom buy or listen to movie soundtracks because mainly, I don't know most of the songs or I don't like them. However, being not a big move soundtrack fan, there are some that break through to me. My favorites would be That Thing You Do!, Charlie's Angels (2000), and Beyond The Sea.
If you haven't seen it, That Thing You Do! is a movie about a one-hit wonder band in the 50's (I think). Because it's a movie about a band, the soundtrack consisted of the songs of the band and other artists on the movie. These songs are not background music so it was easy to identify the songs from which part of the movie they were in.
For Charlie's Angels, I belive it's one of the movies that has the best soundtrack. I could just listen to the whole soundtrack. It's a great mix of fast, slow, and music that's just right. They were perfectly chosen to their respective parts on the movie.
As for Beyond The Sea, it's a biopic of singer Bobby Darin. He was played by Kevin Spacey, one of my favorite actors. I love Kevin's voice and his rendition of Bobby's songs. Most songs were in the movie except one. Some were performed by "Bobby" and some were background music. It's fun to do a music time travel with this soundtrack!
How about you? What is your favorite movie soundtrack? Do you usually buy or listen to movie soundtracks or only a few catch your attention?
Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

Wow, this is my topic! I am so in love with soundtracks. In a movie the music is ..well not a half but it plays big part. I really love the music to Lord of the rings for example which is really magical, relaxing and it's nothing too special but it fits perfect in the trilogy. I also like very much movies connected to music and especially to rock and metal. I talk about Almost famous for example or The boat that rock - so much rock n roll in them. You can feel the spirit of those times. There's a movie called Detroit rock city, I don't know if you've heard about it, it's about KISS fans that are going to concert. This is a good hard rock movie! Also if I encounter a soundtrack that impress me with something, something different it's immediately listed in my winamp playlist.

Wow, that sure is amazing! I have not yet met a person who is loves soundtracks very much.
Oh yes, I remember Detroit City. It's really a fun film. They did everything just to get to the concert. Even after all those difficult and embarassing moments, it all went well when they go to the concert. I agree that it indeed is a good hard rock movie!

There are two soundtracks which I love, the first of which is from an 80s movie called Crossroads, not to be confused with the Britney Spears movie of the same name. The movie is all about young guitar player discovering all about blues legends and as such the soundtrack is full of amazing Blues music from many legends.
The second soundtrack which I really like is from Captain Correli's Mandolin. The movie itself is not the greatest but the various sweet orchestral pieces and those played on the mandolin are enchanting whisking you off into a peaceful place.
The soundtrack to "Beyond the Sea" is a good obe as well and Spacey certainly does a great job of immitating the sound and voice of Darin.

My favorite movie soundtrack would be a song from Bruce Almighty (2003). The song is called "God Shaped Hole" by Plumb and it's so good. I re-watched that seen where Jennifer Ainston was staring at the sky so many times just to hear that song (until I went onto Youtube to look it up). That's my fave movie song. Have a nice day too.

I liked the soundtrack of 50 First Dates, and also of I am Sam. After watching a movie I always think about "I'd like to get their soundtrack" but then I forget about it. So I'm sure there are more that i actually liked but can't name right now. :)

My all time favourite movie soundtracks are Let Me Be Your Wings by Barry Manilow and the many songs of the movie The Sound of Music like The Sound of Music itself, My Favorite Things, Edelwiess,Climb Every Mountain and so much more.
The song Let Me Be Your Wings is the soundtrack of the movie Thumbelina. It is an animated movie released last 1994. The movie is an adaptation of a fairytale written by Hans Christian Andersen about a little woman who is no bigger than a thumb and who fell in love to the fairy prince.
While The Sound of Music is a movie based on the famous broadway musical with the same title. The musical originated with the book The Story of the Trapp Family Singers was written by Maria von Trapp. It contains many popular songs as mentioned above. The movie was filmed in Austria and was released last 1965.

I like the soundtrack of Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous. It's mainly because music was the main focus of the film. This is where I discovered 70's rock, and how it was born.

I haven't bought a movie soundtrack in forever, I generally enjoy full albums of a single artist, it has more consistency and flow to it than soundtrack usually does. When I was younger, however, I used to listen to the reality bites soundtrack all the time. the funny thing is i never liked the movie, but I loved the soundtrack, it had some killer songs on it. I also liked listening to the empire records soundtrack, but I actually liked that movie and it was centered around music and young people so its not a surprise that i dug it. i still remember a ton of those songs even though i probably havent listened in a decade.
