Stress is very bad for expecting moms. I say this because I saw the bad effects on my first born. Everything that stress you physically and mentally is being absorbed by the baby. Do a lighter job if you can't take a leave.

I agree to ricki, I am not expecting mom but I am already a mother. Stress causes a lot of things especially our health. So if you continue with that stressful job you are taking the risk of your health and the health of your baby. Will you consider that, your baby will be unhealthy because you still pursue your stressful job. Just think that its no longer your health you are carrying another life that should be taken care from the start. Anyways it will be also your problem in the long run if you have unhealthy baby.

Stress is very bad for pregnant mothers. It is bad for the baby. Stress releases hormones in your body and anything that is in your body has a way of reaching the baby. I remember I was pregnant when I was working the day shift. I was required to leave 2 hours before my shift started to make time for traffic jams. This was also the time when school has just started. So anyone who's anyone commutes and people who have work fill up the highway with their cars. I go through the same thing at the end of the day, when everyone is coming home from school or the office. I always felt tired in the office, I would take a few hours off from work to get some sleep, and even if I didn't do that, I'd fall asleep anyway! My baby was constantly up during the night and it was what I called restless because she kept moving and moving, and in turn I wouldn't get sleep either. I fixed this by asking to be put in the night shift. I work in a call center, and we run 24/7. That way I was able to avoid any traffic jams or rush hours. And would you believe that my travel time was cut down from 2 hours to just 30 minutes. Now I get more sleep and rest.
