Hello,
I just saw another blockbuster video is closing in our area which leaves only like one store left to rent videos from. This from Mylotter in Penna near King Prussia and Valley Forge Park area! I not ready to do this online like Netflix or any other place. So that means I will buy my DVD's from now on. It so sad to video stores going to way side all for the internet or mail to snatch it up.
Thanks and Have Great day

I live in UK and we used to have a Blockbuster and a Global video store but they have both closed down. I do not see amny video stores in other places either. personally I prefer to buy a DVD to keep but I guess rentals were good for when you wanna try a film out and then maybe buy it later on.

Hello AmbiePam,
I forgot about them and I do know they do rent DVD's but there selection is not always that great and DVD's well soemtimes looked scratch. People in our town do not take of things like that etc... The library is very old. But that was a good idea.
Thanks for the reply.
Have a wonderful day

We don't have one. I did hear they were closing some of them, though. I guess they cannot compete with the online rentals.

If only Blockbuster had lowered its prices. I use Netflix, but even here where I live, Hollywood Video is a rental chain that has lower prices than Blockbuster Video. Perhaps Blockbuster's online business has somewhat hurt the stores that people usually went to. I mean why go to the local store when they can get Blockbuster online? That's not my opinion, I just wonder if it cuts cost for the rental chain. I use Netflix because I get more for my money, a wider selection, and I don't even have to go to a store.

Hello AmbiePam,
We use to have Hollywood Video but they all closed down too without warning. They were our favorite to rent DVD's from. My dad uses Netflix too but he is retired and loves knowing he does not have to drive to get them or return them either.
Thanks for the reply

The Blockbuster in my town has actually already closed down. It closed down some time last year. Now the nearest one is like a half hour drive away. But we still have a Movie Gallery though.

Blockbuster is still hanging on here as is one independent store.
Blockbuster is really expensive. it was 3 films for £5 (older titles) and that suddenly jumped to £7 which is quite a price hike! Thankfully our local public library also rents out films and they are cheaper than the video stores and tend to have more interesting titles not just shoot 'em ups and cartoons.
