How do you scrapbook?

I've been involved in scrapbooking now for three years. I started not too long after my son was born and I started doing it on the computer. I tried doing traditional scrapbooking for a short period of time, but it didn't work for me. I was just too afraid to mess up.
When I discovered digital scrapbooking, I really felt like I found my calling. It is cheaper for me to do and I don't have to worry about messing up. If I make a mistake, it is easy to step backward and do it again.
How about you, how do you scrapbook and why did you choose the method that you have for your scrapbooking?

I got involved 6 yrs ago. I do traditional scrapbooking. I have never gotten into the digital scrapbooking. I love designing my layouts, add the embellishments, and I love the 3D effects you get with different embellishments and products. I also love picking out the paper to go with a particular photo or event. Don't worry so much about messing up, each layout is original and your own creation. It is fun to look back at the first one I did compared to all the techniques and products I now know and use.

I think that you've brought up one thing that is true of all scrapbookers. The longer that we are involved in our craft, the more that we grow as designers. I know that the work that I am doing now is a lot different than what I was doing four years ago.

When I make a page, I do it the "old fashioned" way, because I can be more creative and have something more tangible to hang onto..I never thought about the mistakes that can be made with scrap booking..interesting. Maybe a combination of both would be ideal for me.

I've thought about trying to do a combination. However, for me I don't think it is something that I could do because I'm too scared of mistakes.

For me it isn't only about the money that I save, it is also about the fact that my children can't make a mess of my supplies doing it on the computer.

No harm, no foul in responding to old discussions. I've been there and done that myself as well. I love being a scrapbooker because I feel like I will be able to give my children something that they would not have had were it not for the memories that I am writing about from their childhood.

When i do some scrap booking,,,
I create different designs that come up with my mind...
I like using different and colorful materials to make it
attractive,,,Usually,,recycled materials and etc..
I choose to do scrap booking in this method to enhance my
creativeness in arts...(n.n)

That is a neat idea. If I was one that felt comfortable scrapbooking in the more traditional methods, then I think that I would be likely to use a lot of recycled materials.

Hi, i too love scrapbooking and i do it in a traditional way, which is quite expensive. I just started scrapbooking last year. I am still a beginner and I would want to learn more about it. It seems that you have more experience than me. Do you have any tips and suggestions for me? And can you teach me how to get the digital scrapbooking and how to do it?

The first suggestion that I would ever give to someone about digital scrapbooking is to look it up online. There is a wealth of tutorials and free materials that you are able to start with. My personal favorite site is digitalscrapbookpages.com, however there are a lot of other great sites available.
Also, if you don't have a graphics program on your computer yet, there are some that you can download free trials of to start out with. I personally use photoshop, but I know that there are people that use other programs as well.

I do traditional scrapbooking :) It does cost, but I tend to gather stuff over time and I use a lot of everyday things in my book - like I save wedding invites and napkins, and things like that, so that makes it much cheaper. I started this only b/c my Aunt gave me a started scrapbook and an entire box of scraping goodies!
But I also love playing on the computer too (I'm a web designer) so I will make collages and things online all the time. I wouldn't go as far as saying I have made a digital scrapbook page, but I do different things with photos on the computer all the time. Lately it's mostly been just collages that I then print for hanging around my work ;)

I've yet to make any photo collages to have printed to keep on my walls, but that is something that I would like to do because I love them and I love how homey it makes things feel.
I tried traditional scrapbooking for about a day, but it scared me, so I gave it up almost immediately.

I've been scrapbooking for 5 years, I started when I made the big move from Texas to Pennsylvania. I do traditional scrapbooking. I love working with all the embellishments, stickles, and tools. Since I now have a place of my own, I have a scrappin room, so now I have it all organized and I'm getting caught up on the last half of '09. It's also fun being able to go back and look at my first pages (albums) and look at how I have progressed with new techniques I've learned and new ways of adding embellishments.
I have a small wood sign in my scrap room ...... There is a fine line between hobby and obsession. lol

I definitely do agree with you that there is a fine line between hobby and obsession when it comes to scrapbooking.
I could only wish that I will ever have a hobby room of my own, but it is definitely going to be some time before I ever have that opportunity.

I actually feel lost when I don't have the opportunity to turn on my software in the duration of a day to scrapbook. When I don't have recent things to scrapbook, then I will find older pictures and use them to scrapbook with.
