Have you ever shopped at Direct Buy?

They claim to have lower prices than any one on premium items for the home.
I have never been here. I do have a friend that is hoping to use this store to furnish her new home after it gets built.
I told her to shop around and check prices everywhere and not to take them at their word that they are cheaper than anyone else.
So have you ever tried to day pass or month pass or do you have a membership with Direct Buy? Or do you know someone that does?
Thank you in advance for responding.

Well my step daughter works for Direct Buy. Her job is on the phone like a telemarketer basically. Her job is to ask if you'd like the info sent to you, she does not ask for money. They charge 4,500.00 per year for a membership but she said that if you had one or more homes to furnish you would save huge. It works like a membership.

With that much money I could furnish my whole home and would not need the membership, lol. That is a tough job....telemarketing. I did it for several years. I did well but don't have the patience to do it again.

As you know I am in Canada and here they pay her 12.00 an hour but she hates the job and is going to start applying for something else.

The membership is $4,500 for a "10" year membership. I have heard that it could even be a lifetime membership. It is NOT an annual membership. If you want to furnish a home you will save a huge amount of money. Furniture has a 30-50% mark up. Wall coverings...about the same. Appliances not so much but depends. Most showrooms will guarantee savings on every item purchased. I am a member and ordered a large dining room table that would have cost me $5,400 online (generally cheaper than a retailer). I paid $2,800 through Direct Buy. Its not for everybody but I can attest to the fact that you will save money of you don't need the immediate satisfaction of leaving a store with your merchandise. Hope this helps.

No, I never have. I have been invited to their showroom several times but never went. We rent an apartment and I got new furniture when I got my money after an early retirement so I don't need any furniture or appliances. No, I don't know anyone that has use them either. Too expensive for my tastes.

I know what you mean. Besides I can get some big name things that are usually expensive from Big Lots, lol

And I really think Direct Buy is a racket anyway. They can price things any thing they want to. I think they just show a higher price to make it look like you are getting a good deal.

I never have, but understand that you have to buy a membership of quite a bit of money before you leave your scheduled visit. It is outrageous. I have heard from a few that it is a waste of time, and if you don't fork out the money, the price will not be the same.

From my understanding of the place you have to buy a membership to even purchase any thing there. Yes, you are right it is a lot of money for the membership. I don't remember exactly but it was a few hundred dollars or more.
