a debit card and debit card is just like a postpaid and a prepaid phone plan. like in post paid you can use your phone even without paying it and you will only pay based on what you have in your monthly billings, while prepaid you cant use it unless you buy a load for you phone. same thing as credit card. the bank will give you limited money for you to spend and wait for the end of the month to received your bills for you to pay it. in debit card you need to deposit money first out from your own pocket nor if someone send you money through your debit card or from your salary then thats the only time you can use it.

Well before pronouncing a judgment, I would want to know something... 'How fond you are of shopping?' Do you like it a lot? Do you go shopping for hours? Yes!! Then, don't go for the Credit card... Credit card means 'post pay services' i.e. you use the services first and then pay at the end of the month. This a real good solution to carrying cash, but there is one serious danger. Often you might lose count of how much you have spent... or you might just go on shopping, as much you want, as there are no restrictions and at the end of the month you may get a huge bill to pay... Debit/ATM card is good. You don't have to carry cash that you have in your bank account. It is like 'Pre-paid services'. You can use your debit card, only if there is sufficient amount in your account. In this case, no one is able to spend as much as they wish. One can spend only what they have in bank account... Hope I have been able to explain it properly... Have a good time and make a good decision too..

hi! the only difference between the credit and the debit cards is that for the credit card you must pay some fee which depends on that to which bank your card belong and also what kind of credit card you have- a silver, golden or platinum one! and also you don't have to put any money in it, the money comes right from your bank account. and the debit card has no fee and you must have some in in it in order to use it!

Hello both can be used for shopping, you can draw money from any ATM using your debit card also, but in shopping money will go from your account, but you can use your credit card to shop more than what you have in your account, BUT THEY CHARGE VERY HIGH INTEREST OF 24% So don't be tempted, if you use, pay back in the no interest period Happy posting, cheers Prof

Debit card can be useful when our bank account has sufficient funds at the time of using it...whereas a credit card is issued to a person who is eligible to get credit by the financial institutions and banks. Both ATM and debit cards r the same...both r used to withdraw the money.

You can use both of them on purchases in lieu of cash.. A debit card should always be funded..if you don't have any money in your account then you cannot use it to purchase items..in other word it's just merely a direct withdrawal from your savings..the amount of your purchase will be deducted directly from your account.. While in credit card your credit limit is the indicator of how much you can spend..it doesn't require you to have fund in your account-it just means that you are borrowing money from the bank and an obligation to pay the bank will arise then.. Most ATM's can be used as debit card nowadays, meaning you can withdraw cash from it or use the card for payment in department store directly..They call it EPS or electronic payment system..=) Just choose the one that is more convenient with you..=)
