Have you gotten to the point where you feel you have enough money?

Will we ever get to the point where we feel we have enough money or that the job we are in right now is what we want to do for the rest of our lives based on our income? For those who are in school, do you really believe that your major will eventually land you a job that you will be satisfied with? Where exactly does it end? There is a saying I heard before that states that it is when you feel you have enough money that you have too much. Is that really true, and who doesn't want to have too much money exactly? I mean most of us hope some day that we'll win the lottery or get that big break right? That's what I feel some people here on mylot or ehow or hubpages or such sites are doing. What do you think, are you making enough money? Do you think you will?

I think that we will eventually get to a point where we are content with where we are in life.
For example, I am content with staying at home to try to earn money. But I know that I will need to go out and get a job that I may not enjoy as much as staying home with my 4 year old.
Also, it really depends on our spending habits. Are we content with spending "x" amount of money on things we may not need? Like, netflix, going out to eat, going to the movies.
It all comes down to patience, really. Are we willing to be patient for the life we hope to achieve or are we going to throw away the money we have now so we will never get to where we want to be?
Good spending habits, good budgeting, and the patience to achieve what we want will get anyone further than we are at this moment.
I for one am not making much money, but I am in a much better financial place than I was a year ago and I have been able to make ends meet...barely. But we go without a few extras and that is alright!!

This is a good question. My view is a little pessimistic and I don't think anyone would ever be 100 percent satisfied with his/her job and the income they make. This definitely goes for myself. I'm in college right now and I'm getting decent grades but I don't feel like when I finish school, I'm going to get a decent job that I'm happy with. If my job pays rent, I'll probably want a car. If my job pays for the car too, I'll probably want to buy a house. The story never ends and there is never enough money.

Your view is not pessimistic at all, it's actually very realistic. That generally is the case with money and acquiring material things. The more we get,the more we want. As much as we say when we don't have enough money that when we do get that money we will be content with it, we are not. Makes me wonder what rich people say about that. Do they ever say that what they have is enough? I think for some people who are very well off, eventually they are okay with it. I mean they have to be right?

Almost 40 here, done some high paid jobs in my time but never, not once, have I had enough cash to do the things that I've wanted to do more than rarely. The cost of living is the killer! I could have thousands of pounds but if thats all tied up in bills just to keep a roof over the head and food on the table then I dont consider that as enough money. Maybe im not so good with budgeting though :)
I would consider enough money to be an amount where at any time I could drop everything and pursue some whim like a holiday or a new building project or something with no consequences or catch up to do after the event :-)

Who's to say you will actually pursue those intrinsic activities once you get to a state where you can say I finally have enough money to do whatever I want. Look at some of the richest people in the world who can drop their hands in all they're doing and still be well off for the rest of their life. They are still working to hold onto all that money. But hopefully us lowly people without the security of that ability will actually take time out to enjoy our full accomplishments. Much luck to you enterthehole(funny username).

I'm sorry, I have no suggestions. I myself am only 21 and in school. The only thing I advice is exactly that, stay in school to get a job.

How i wish i have, but sadly i think it will take me alot of time for me to be able to reach that point. Though im making efforts its not that easy at all to make money specially nowadays that life is a lil bit harder. But if you keep on trying and making lots of efforts to achieve your goal i believe anything is still possible just have faith in everything that you do ;)

Your question is one that isn't asked often enough. Most people trudge their way through life thinking money is the key to happiness; if you have enough money, there aren't many problems that can plague you.
Money is nothing. To make lots of money will only cause those to want even more in most cases. Money doesn't make you a good person, it doesn't bring you happiness, it doesn't give you love, it doesn't give you better relationships, and it doesn't make you a better person. Therefore, it's worthless.
I feel I have enough money. I have felt this way since my husband and I first were married last March. We make enough both to live on and to put into our respective savings and retirement accounts. Our combined salary is just short of $40,000. In saying this, you'd think we'd be wanting more, wanting to win millions, etc. At the young ages of 21 and 26, my husband and I are doing great for our age and at the same time don't feel pressured to make more. We make enough to satisfy our present lives and to set up our comfortable future. Instead of focusing on money we can now focus on the gift of life and treasuring each day which is more than a privilege. We are the happiest couple I know, simply because we are satisfied with our comfortable living and don't focus on materialistic goods.
We make more than enough money, and it saddens me to see people decades older than I am still not happy with themselves. It's simple: focus on what truly matters. For those of us whom believe in an afterlife, what will be there? Friends, family, animals, sure. Money? No. It's the most worthless thing that has ever existed and only serves as security for this life. Be happy with your job and make enough money to live on and put away for the future. Any more money than that is unnecessary.

no i have not gotten to that point at all. it seems like it is really hard to make decent income. it takes alot of time and effort. if i didnt have to spend so much time trying to make a decent amount of income then i think i probably wouldnt be so stressed out alot of the time. but i think if i find some more great ways to earn online then i should be able to earn a more decent amount of income.

well i think that some people are satisfied with the kind of money that they already have. and then there are some that are obsessed with money. i so far have not made very much since i am very new to earning money online. but i have made quite abit and i have gone a long ways with earning. i make money playing mmorpg games. one of the games that i play is called second life. the name of the site where you download the game is secondlife. i make about $8.00 every day. i think you will have alot of fun playing mmorpg games and earning from them. best of luck with earning.

I'm in that situation all the time. I hope that starting April 2010, I will be able to earn a lot of money to provide my family. Please pray for me. I need all the help I can get.

i dont think theres a point like that at all.
theres always money that you can invest usefully.
or just make sure your own children will have a part of it.
so yes theres a point where you have money to be happy and such,n the point where you theoretically don't need anymore, but in the end theres no such thing as "enough money".

no. idon,t think there is ever to much money unless you,re rich and famous and making billions, then yes surrender some of this to the rest of us pleease. Thre are few of us who are completely satisfied with our jobs. I think we,ll always be looking for that perfect job that will give us finacial security with more time to play then work. will i personally make too much money ,maybe in my dreams.

I think it is very hard to reach that point, only people who are filthy rich beyond their wildest dreams probably feel that way, and even then, they might still want more. So I think it is very hard to be completely at ease with this, and I am personally not, and I do not think I will be completely satisfied at any point in the near future either.

Nope..like a lot of people, I haven't reach my financial goal, but I still keep my optimistic thinking that someday, sooner or later, I will. Especially in this online world, the opportunity is real..but only if you have the right information.

I feel like I have enough money currently to live how I want to live, but I do not have the money to do what I want to do in the future. i want to have kids and i don't have the kind of cash flow to have them just yet, at least not the way we currently spend, but i imagine it is do-able. i just like to be safe and have extra money just in case something crazy happens.

I don't think anyone will get there. Are expenses seem to grow with our income (if it does). So that just keeps adding to the challenge. I think there's comes a time to say...how much do I really need then how much money do I need to be content?
It's tough, I'm no expert.

I have a very good job that I do to the best of my ability and for that I'm paid quite well for someone of my age. I've always managed to get the bills paid but there's always scope to earn a bit more money if you're willing to put a bit of effort in. There will always be new things that we want, or old things that we want to upgrade or make better. I don't think anybody will ever think they have enough money. Even millionaires are always looking for their next venture to swell their coffers a bit more!
