Hello all, i'm typing this with a very heavy heart... I'm a final year electronics and communication engineering student, i suffered a much today.. This was the 3rd interview and i failed again in group discussion.. The first screening test which was the aptitude, i cleared the first round with many difficulties .. Second round was GD(Group Discussions) i cannot pass through this round, i was asked to go home.. Actually this is the third time, i have been thrown off .. During my first interview, i cleared all the rounds and during the final HR round , i was kicked off, i still don't know the reason.. And today , i spoke well, i'm not a native speaker of english, but i can speak a little fluently..i did my best, but i was dropped.. I feel , that i'm losing my faith of getting a job, before completing engineering.. I don't know what else to do, i did my best, but i was asked to call off and go home.. What else i can do?? I was crying before my mother.. I lost faith...I'm not gonna attend any interviews anymore

Hey gunagohan, such things happen! I completed my graduation when I was 21 and I got my first professional job when I was 27 and a half! Even that didnt pay me enough. It was not until I crossed 40 did I start feeling a bit secure. So dont give up. Put in efforts. You are doing fine in English. It is your complex. You will get a job dont worry kid. Dont worry yourself sick. Just some more efforts, watch a few English movies before the interview and you will do great. Cheerup. We are all there with you. We wont leave you. :)

I see a lot of english movies, more american tv shows like the big bang theroy, HIMYM...I thought that my english was enough to communicate, but it rather turned out to be on the negative side.. I could not take up my defeat, i did well today, i was asked to go home, i lost my faith... I'm up to date with all latest english movies and tv shows...

Honestly when I started out, I'd never thought I'd do as well as I did. And I never planned for it either. Series of failures and drudgery never allowed me to be complacent. In retrospect, I think whatever happened, happened for the best. Had I been given everything I wanted, I wouldnt strive for anything, and I would have been at a much lower station in my life than I've reached. So - the lesson from my life that I could share with you is - if you dont get what you wanted, in all probability something better is waiting for you. Hope this helps.

Dont lost you faith to your self, and have faith in God. god will help you to be courage and will give you wisdom. I will tell my story regading to my previous work . This is about the call center. Applying in a callcenter. At first I tried to apply many call center I failed no one will accept bec of my accent. Luckily our government offered free trainning in a call center. I got the trainging and finished the two weeks training. after the training I looked for a job. unfortunately I did not pass the interview. I prayed for God's guidance and wisdom, then God help one day I went back to my traing school because there was a job fiar . Luckily I passed the interview. In an interview be firm to your answer. And one more thing have CONFIDENT.

Gunagohan!I can understand how traumatic it would be for you. But do not lose heart.Once you lose your spirit , getting it back and channelising your energies in a positive direction would be very difficult. I am sure you will have some special skills and aptitude.Focus on these and build upon this.Just do not go by what is popular and what your friends are doing.Have an objective chat with someone who knows you really well--if it IS your father it would be ideal because he may know a lot more about the corporate world. If your parents are well placed and it would not matter if you don't take upa job immediatley, try to embellish some computer skills of yours.Campus interviews are not the be all and end all of life.I have heard one case of a classmate of my son[when he was in Bcom]--now this boy had only finished BCOM.He was quite a poor child but he was unwilling to compromise and take up any job with measley wages..He must have enhanced some basic skills or acquired some new ones because he is now working in a call centre or so and is earning quite well.He did not even study in an English medium school. But now he is fine .Just have some determionation and think thta you would do whatever you choose to do really well.Once we have made the right sort of focused efforts, rest assured God would do the rest.Have faith in Him and pray to Him daily to show you the right path.Your mental peace is absolutely essential.Without thsi you won't be able to achieve anything .Don't lose faith in God and yourself.THese are trying times for you but this is not the end.YOu have some better things waiting for you. NEVER LOSE HEART.

Then you do not have anyone at home to guide you properly ; but you can talk to one of your lecturers , find out your flaws and work on them.

I have much respect for my staffs, but i have to admit that i have more skills than them... Nobody will help in this matter.. Education Institutions are getting commercialized now days, if i go and ask them, they would tell that they are busy in next year's academic process .. So there is no issue with them..

If you plan to quit interviews and try recommendation , and if you are fortunate to ahve some reputable contacts who would recommend you, then it is great. You can embellish your skills and prove your worth once you get the job.It si the entry point where you are facing difficulties.Once htta is done with, then you won't have to worry. All the best!

Hi Funagohan, I just want to add in an interview the following: you need to be spontaneous to your answer and make again to show your confident in giving to your answer. Spontaneous give a direct to the point answer. Avoid body gesture in giving your answer Your need also to be in proper attire.

Hi guna, Please don’t desperate this much. Instead try to find out what went wrong. Getting failures is normal in our life. We should learn from the mistakes and focus our life with more expectations then only we achieve success. I understand your feelings but it is only for a particular time you will forget this and will be ready to accept the challenge soon. You can approach one of your professors for guidance and I think a third person who knows you well, can easily find out the draw backs in you. There is nothing wrong in your English but you are losing the confidence. Spend sometime with those people who have some influence on you or with a close friend. I bet you will come out with your good result in near future that also very soon. Best of luck.

Basically, i don't have much friends...I can say that i don't have friends...I will talk to people only when there is a need or when they talk to me.. I never talk unnecessarily with others, this is my problem.. I just have to improve on my own.. Thanks for replying..

Don't lose hope.. You're not the only one who is suffering from that kind of situation. Other people experience that too so when things are not going the way you wanted don't give up. Give extra effort. Find ways for you to pass those trials and keep on praying. Maybe at this moment it is not meant for you but i know someday you could get through this. :) Good luck and God Bless.

Don't get depressed and don't loose faith in yourself. I am too an Engineering student. I can understand. When you are giving an interview don't get depressed or nervous, these can really harm your performance during an interview. Try practicing discussions with friends or family members, this will give you self confidence. The "English speaking" thing can be improved by practice. Join a English coaching class. English is really very important in engineering career. Loosing a job before completing engineering doesn't mean that you will never get a job. There are many opportunities for engineering students, engineering students don't get wasted. Focus on your final year studies forget about the campus. After finishing your last year, focus on self improvement. You will definitely get job in good company. Believe in yourself. My best wishes are with you.

I don't think that my language is bad, i did my best , but i could not succeed , i really thought i would bag the job and go home happily, but the result were negative.. i have been getting educating in English medium throughout my career and i honestly think i'm good in writing and also in speaking, but i still cannot understand where i went wrong yesterday, i knew the reason for the past two interviews, where my mouth was much wider and i was arguing with the HR about the pay package and the company status, but yesterday i was very cautious , i spoke softly in the group and i gave more valuable and valid points.. What i have understood is , the other members who got selected have much skills and knowledge than me.. This is what i have to accept...

The next time you go for an interview, do it to find out what you did wrong. And if you can speak to the HR representative, ask him what you should improve on. Find out in what areas you need to practice more. So that way, the next time you go for another interview you'll be more prepared! :D Good luck in your next interview. Don't stop at the fourth or fifth. It's a good idea to get practice while you're at it. Think of all the interview you went to as practice.

You just have to try harder next time, when you stumble try to get up and pick yourself again, now if you still stumble after that repeat the process .And if by any chance you still stumble dont be afraid to exhaust the process of picking yourself up because only you will determine your future be good at what you do and dont you ever stop until your alive reach for your goals try to find a motivation ;)

I think u r attending the interviews with less confidence..What u have to do while attending an interview is not to think of whether u grab tht job or not...Think of the ways to produce urself confidently before the interviewers...In GD,U might have opened urself with fear which have been presented in the way u talk unnoticedely...Coming to HR round, they just check how confident u r about urself n next observe ur capabilities...To do anything one needs self-confidence..i think u r lacking of tht...Stay cool..relax urself...think of the interviews u have failed..try to notice the flaws by urself...change urself..take the support of ur lecturers n frinds to improve ur language

If your English speaking is the thing that is letting you down, then that is what you need to focus upon. Don't give up, go to lessons or find someone who speaks both your own language and English and will converse with you in English but is able to put you right if you make a grammatical error by telling you in your native language. It might be that your English 'speaking' is good but your comprehension of a conversation in English isn't ,which is harder to discover as everyone else just continues and leaves you floundering.

My parents are not educated, they wanted me to pursue Engineering , so i took up the course, i have a good knowledge and i don't have much exposure with others, because i don't like mingling with others often, as i don't have much interest in a chit chat...I don't know what to do now, i'm 21 years old now, i cannot go and find people now to help me out.. I have to find my own way out.. I'm working on it.. Thanks for ur reply...

Gunagohan, I agreed do not give up. You can do it. You can the interview. As a mentioned to you if you still remember I always failed my interview even I have try trained still I failed my intervie. But i did not give up Lucky I hired. Again just be confident to your answer. And pray first before you do anyting , God will help you. Do not give up, because sometimes our mother mother also know our ability. I think your mother believe that you can make it. I f can I know you can also make it.

hi gunagohan. you just have to keep on trying. it pays to know where we go wrong so that we wouldn't repeat the same mistake. people who are successful usually have lots of failures before. its not the number of times we fail but the number of times we get up to move on, anyway.
