Hi myLotters I'm just wondering how many of you will be having a garden this year. If so what are some of the things you like to grow? What is your favorite thing to eat from your own garden?

Our family has done gardening every year, so this year won't be an exception. Our garden isn't big, but we grow various types of vegetables here: tomatoes, cucumbers, paprika, potatoes, onion, garlic, lettuce and other greens. We also have cherry, pear and plum trees here. In summer it's a great pleasure to eat everything that grows in our garden, it's 100% organic.

I would love to have fruit trees. We always get to have vegetables and I'm very glad because of the taste and health value, but to have fruit trees would be the icing on the cake. We don't have a large enough space to have more than a couple trees and the ones we have are beautiful so I would never get rid of them unless something would happen that we would have to cut them. If we ever move to a place that we could have the trees then I will get a couple to try.

Yes! I grow a lot of my food. I also have a little side business where I teach people how to garden to increase their sustainability while decreasing their grocery bills and dependence on grocery store products. I grow tomatoes, corn, melons, several varieties of squash, okra, 3 varieties of beans, cukes, medicinal herbs, as well as herbs for gastronomical delights, greens, fruit, etc. I do it all in suburbia. People think you need a farm to pull this off. You don't. When I lived in an apartment in Atlanta & Nashville I still had a garden. I do it for the savings, but more so, for the quality of food and independence. I only wish I could have livestock here. For that you do need a little more space than I have. Although, I do raise quail and rabbits. One day very soon I'll have the land I want. Make it my own private paradise. I love small town living, especially when I'm close enough to a big town for a little city adventure. Love & Luck!

Hi everyone I liked reading all the responces it's nice to know that people still want fresh foods. I also don't have lots of space for a garden but we still grow as much as we can. I like the rock garden also I bet that would be something fun to try. I wish everyone luck with whatever it is you decide to do in your space this year.

Yes I will. We will grow lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, potatoes, herbs, peppers, cukes, onions, leeks, carrots, radishes. I am sure we will pluck even more in. As soon as possible, we try to grow the majority of our food.

HI again ! I like tomatoes best from the garden. corn is great too. I also love okra and squash, peas and beans-heck I like 'em all !! I am thinking tho I might do a container type garden this year as the tiller will break my back and I would grow smaller than in volume. That is my version of a garden this year! hugs, quita

I just wish we have the place to have a garden its just that our lot is so limited that the house itself almost occupies everything so basically we just cant plant anything or even try to because a garden wont fit in. But i always wanted to have one i might be planting tomatoes and some squash or anything i just love watching those veggies grow from time to time ;)

hello overwith! although the setup i have cannot be considered a garden per se, because it consists of several plots that are located on top of our roof, i was able to grow tomatoes and several culinary herbs like oregano, onions, garlic and the likes. since i like vegetable a lot although im really not a vegetarian, i like to grow green leafy vegetables.
