I know that the amount of time depends on other things in our busy life. But on average how long do you play with your kids? Sometimes i feel a bit guilty for wishing to do other things in my free time as it sometimes gets a bit boring...you know playing with the same toys or reading the same book...does this happen to you?

My kid is 16. But we do try to play a board game, or card game or watch a movie every day. We succeed about 4 nights a week. I wish it could be more but we do our best to spend time together. I worry that time is almost up. She will soon be going off to college, wont need her mommy, its terrible!

I really admired the fact that you still spend time together even though she is 16. Unfortuntaley it is true, kids do grow up so fast. I still yearn seeing photos of when my kid was still a newborn!

Yes time flies by and in children even more, they grow up sooo fast! that is why it is crucial to give them our best and spend quality time with them.

Since I work all day long, when I arrive at home I like to take time and play with my 9 month old baby, it is fun becasue she gets entertained so easily even if we play with the same toys everyday, I am the one who gets bored of the same and when I can I go out and buy something new.

That is a common occurence... all kids tend to keep playing with the same toys, and parents get fed up and bored, so we practically choose the toys which entertain us :)

not enough I am sure. Right now we are redoing a couple of things in our house and have been really busy with that and I do feel like we have to push play time with the kids to the side. I do try to get them involved as much as I can. While we were doing trim work on the rooms, I gave them little paint brushes to paint with us. While I am cooking I will often ask if they would like to help. They are learning and spending time with us by helping. We are taking a trip soon which is much needed with all the work we are doing. We will get to play on the beach then.

That's a nice thing, it is good to involve kids in what you are doing. I am already inolving my daughter in some simple tasks even though she is just 2yrs old. She helps me by giving me the clothes when i have to hang the clothes to dry, or helping me in tidying up her toys. I find it cute and sweet :) and she loves it as she feels useful and worthwhihle, especially when i say thank you.

hi, grkelly. I am a stay at home mother. I spend most of the time together with my boy. He is now thirteen months old. It's not boring to be with him, even though we always read the same book, talk the same thing, play the same games. Because i know this is the important stage for the baby to learn repetitively. The only thing is sometimes i will get tired because i need to cook and do the chores. So, i will ask for my hubby to accompany my boy and let me rest for a while. My boy will not play the same toy for long, maximum only takes him for few minutes. I always need to think which games to play with him. Luckily i have found many information from the parenting forum. So that i have better ideas on playing together with my boy. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

Well mine is a new born kid just a 4 days old. She sleeps always and waiting for the great times to play with her and make more of sweet memories. I will not mind spending the whole day for my little angel and play with her whole heartedly.

Well that is a nice thing to say, but believe me there will come a time when you will see the big difference there is between a newborn and a toddler...you will be more tired with constant demands of 'mum i want this and that', and 'give me this and that' and 'i dont want to eat this' and a lot of running and yelling. It is cute but very streessful as toddlers need to examine everything to learn and they seem to never get tired...while you will :) so most probably you will not find it very possible to play all day long.

My son - he loves painting and coloring books.
Hi, grkelly. Well, it depends on that how much 'free' time I have. Today is my rest day. So I am at home all the day and I spend my time to play with my son. Now he is sleeping and I am resting in front of the computer . When I am working, I don't have enought time, but I am trying to give him at least one or two hours every night. We are reading books, playing with the toys, or playing football in the back yard. Sometimes it's boring, but I don't have any choice. He needs his mamma.

Recently, i returned back to work, but my only daughter is already 6 years old. Even she's a little older i still have this guilty feeling whenever i left her at home. But if iv'e got no work i see to it that all day long we are with each other so i could at least make up for the lost times we've missed.
