There is another blockbuster store closed to my house closed today. Everything was on sale, and I just couldn't believe it. A couple years of ago, I was a frequent customer to Blockbuster; but the great offers from netflix, and other online service, I have to steer away my patronage to somewhere else. Also, the popularity of online movies, like Hulu, makes me tighten my wallet a little bit. That store was around for while, and it is sad to see it gone. There will be another empty spot in that shopping center again.

The Blockbuster in my town closed down last year. I used to be a frequent visitor there as well. But it was mainly to just rent video games which I stopped renting them a while back because I kind of outgrew "renting" video games, I guess. You're right, it is sad to them gone.
There is a Movie Gallery still in my town but it doesn't really have as many selections as I remember the Blockbuster having. But since that's the only place in my town, there's not a lot to choose from.

We must live in the same town. Our Movie Gallery has very, very few titles. And if they do get a big new release, they usually only get two or three copies, so you have to wait forever. And by the time you get it, the movie will be on HBO in two more weeks.
They only stay in business because it's a family that runs this particular chain. They don't have to pay a lot of employees and they probably don't have to pay a lot for insurance since I doubt family is a risk to sue and things of that nature (but you never know).
Our Blockbuster closed and left all its posters and stuff hanging in the window. It looks like a Stephen King movie came through.

Our branch of Blockbuster closed last year, mainly due to the proliferation of cheap dvd hire places couple with the accessability of movies on cable and the internet.

I know out here Hollywood Video will be closing out here as well. It will close in mid-May and I feel bad about it. I wish that these places would not close. I am not sure where am I going to rent videos from. Netflix is expensive and the red box does not give enough choices nor enough time to watch a video.

Its so sad to hear that. Me I have no work for two years now and my credit card bills are raising. I don't know how to pay them all. I think after building my name for 6 years in credit card I will go down in disgrace for I don't have money to pay my credit card. That's life. Sometimes your up and sometimes your down.

Yes, I remember when video rental was new, and then when DVDs were new. But the times are changing again. I can't tell you the last time I was in a Blockbuster. A lot of people just order their movies digitally anymore. It's a lot more convenient.

It is getting tough for the video rental stores especially with those red boxes and online services like Netflix around. I'm not quite sure how long the Blockbuster here is going to be around for with that kind of competition. The Hollywood Video store across the street is already closing down so I'm guessing their future isn't that bright either. But I'm not going to be too sad to see Blockbuster go though. I stopped going there ages ago because they tried to screw me over a few times with bogus late fees and those creditor things. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just a once in a lifetime mistake but it happened more than once. I'd get these laters for late fees and stuff for movies that I already returned and stuff like that. It got really annoying after a while so I just stopped going there.

Blockbuster is on the verge of going bankrupt and to protect their business and all their assets they are forced to close stores all around the US. This also happened with hollywood video and now those a few and far between. Theres one by my house thats still doing a pretty decent job but what i find amazing is when they DO close the stores they discount everything and its all dirt cheap. I got a season of family guy for like 4 dollars...and other dvds were between 2 and 10. thats definitely the time to purchase movies!

Yes I live in New Mexico and the blockbuster near me is closing too. My daughter and her husband have brought alot of movies at a discount. They were even selling the selves and the light fixtures. I can't believe that they are closing. I wonder if it has to do with the economy or is there another reason.
