One of my friends have three cellphones. She also has another three of them at home. She likes to chanve cellphones often. I don't think I can ever have more than one cellphone at a time. I also dont' want to waste money by getting expensive models if I don't have plans to use the facilities of the expensive ones. What do you think about having more than one cellphones? Do you go for very expensive models if you are sure that you won't use the extra features in them?

I don't really understand how she does that. She has different connections and schemes in different mobiles. You will be surprised to know that she is a first year college student. She has certain plans for local calls, STD calls, etc. She is not from a very rich family and I guess her father pays the phone bills. It is good not to have mobile phone if you don't really need it.

I started this dicussion because I saw a debate in Vijay TV last night. It was about using mobile phones. One girl in the debate said that she till now had 25 mobiles and 10 of them are at home in working condition. I was so surprised to hear that. The girl is a college student. The famous comedian S.V. Shekar who attended the show and said that he never had a mobile that cost more than Rs. 5000, but his son who is a college student uses a mobile of Rs. 30000.

That is interesting. So, you need both the phones. I have a friend who has an office phone and the bill of that number is paid by her company. She uses the same phone for personal use also. She use it to make many personal calls, but don't have to worry about the bill. I also use office phone to make personal calls once in a while, but it is not fair to use it so many times or for a long time. You are decent. Otherwise, you earn a good salary and you don't think it is a big deal to pay your personal cellphone bill.

for now a days we badly need 2 or 3 phones. 1 for office, 2 for family and personal, 3 is for public so that anyone have a question or seek you. this 3rd one is useful.

I myself have two cell phones, one for each network I use. But my phones aren't the expensive kinds. I just use them for communication purposes, and I'm not that hung up about the look of my phone hehe. It's ok to have more than one phone, as long as it serves the purpose. I think your friend just likes collecting phones, much like some people like collecting havaianas slippers. :)

Hi Daliaj, I have only maintained 1 cell phone at a time. I don't see the need to have more than one, when I can't even fully utilize my 1 CP. I personally think it's a lot of wasted money. I have friends who have 2 or 3 CPs but most of them are in sales, or a career that required them to be always "accessible".

hello dalia, Actually, there is nothing wrong with having 3 cellphones,if the person can afford to have it. The only problem is,some people had 3 mobile and wasting money for those gadgets instead of buying much necessary of save the money for emergency. And,it also give me a quip when people approach me,asking for money(borrowing money)due to some emergency or important things, and, knowing they're just wasting their money for unnecessary things like mobile and other gadgets. Sometimes,i want to laugh at scene like this,i just smile and say "why not pawn or sold your extra mobile ?" (duh!)

Lol. I don't think any pawn broker will take mobiles. They are only fond of gold or land. Also, it is an important point that resale value of mobiles is very low. If you buy a mobile for Rs. 15000, you will get a maximum of Rs. 4000 if you are lucky. So, it is not a wise idea to invest on expensive phones unless you are rich. I agree with you that it is fine to have an expensive phone if you are really rich to afford it.

I have my current phone and I've held onto my old phone, but I usually keep the same phone for 3 years at least. I have a blackberry but I do use many of the features. I guess that if you will use them and it's important to you, it makes sense to have multiple phones. But for me, I find it's easier just to have the one because I get used to where the buttons are and everything.

There is nothing wrong in having more than one mobile phone.. i have got four mobile phones (apple iphone 2g, nokia n81 8g, nokia 5530 xpressmusic and LG) my sister passed on to me her nokia n81 while the nokia 5530 xpressmusic was a present from my aunt.. i am currently using my apple iphone for my SUN sim while the nokia 5530 for my GLOBE sim.. here in the Philippines, it's common to see people who are having more than one mobile phone... one is for calling purposes and the other is for texting...

i use cellphone just to communicate if it is necessary when i m not at home. So one phone its enough and i dont care at all to have an expensive model. A phone that can do calls and to send some msn is okfro me. I dont need at all extra feautures.

If your friend is comfortable with having a lot of cell phones, then I think it's okay. But I don't want to have lots of cell phones because I don't really need to have that many. I don't even use my cell phone often. I'm sure that buying another phone would only be a waste of money for me.

well, daliaj, i have one handphone or cellphone. it serves my purpose. i can phone , receive and texts, which are a few functions. these aee basic functions and i am happy with it already. i have friends who have 2 cellphones. one cellphone for families and friends and the other cellphone is for work. yet another group of my friends have 3 or more cellphones. one for her family's calls. the second cellphone is for friends.the 3rd cellphone is for associates. wow, to me, these cell phones dont come cheap and the billings too. well to each , his own. to some it becomes a status symbol as they are having the latest models and what have you. i am happy with mine.

I have two cellphones, but that's because one of them can use SIM cards, and I need that function. In case of needing different kinds of phones I think that it's not bad, but I can't understand how there are people who own up to 5 phones, each one more expensive than the other
