Spending A LOT on clothes

I can't believe (or understand) how some people can spend a ton of money on designer clothing (or not even designer, but regularly priced regular clothes). I would rather buy nice things used or on clearance and save the extra money (or buy more with it.) What about you? What is the most that you have ever spent on a single item of clothing? Do you feel it was money well spent?

I do prefer clearance sales, I love the feeling of leaving a shop with lots of items knowing that I havent spent much, however if there is something that I like and know I will wear a lot then I will pay full price for it, not if it is too overly priced however. Years ago I spent £70 on a top, which is a lot for me, and after wearing twice I was too afraid to wear it again! Incase I got anything on it! So learnt my lesson, there is no point on spending a lot of money on something if you are afraid to wear it!

I agree, clearance sales rock! That's funny about the top, I actually bought an outfit once online that was out of my normal price range and I ended up not liking it and I still have it sitting around never worn. :( Thanks for the response.

I'm glad that we think alike. I also don't believe in spending more just to pay for the brand and not the item itself. Same with people who appear as if they would die if they can't buy a designer bag, pair of shoes, high-end mobile phone, etc. etc. the moment a new model comes out.
I know several people like that and I can't help but think how senseless it is to accumulate material things they won't even be able to bring along in case they die tomorrow :(
You know, I don't even remember buying any expensive clothing these past months. What I have are usually gifts from my sister and sisters-in-law. A cousin of mine who came from abroad also gave me several blouses and skirts last Christmas so I have no reason to buy new clothes at the moment.

I agree, there are plenty of more important things in this world than bags and shoes and other expensive things. I pretty much only have enough clothes as I actually need - and I wear them until they have holes in them. Thanks so much for the response.

I agree that it may be worthwhile to spend extra money on special clothing once in awhile... but I still don't do it. :) Thanks for the response.

I can't afford to spend much on clothes these days but when I was still working and earning good money I once bought a dress that cost me £200. It was a lot of money then, and still a lot of money now. I have to say, however, it was worth every penny I paid and I still have the dress.

I can see how it might be worthwhile to spend a lot on one special piece of clothing once or twice in a lifetime. :) Thanks for the response.

I definitely agree with you, variety rather than quality, haha. All kidding aside, you can find a lot of quality clothing at used stores and garage sales and I love it! Thanks for the response! :)

For me it is not clothes but accessories such as shoes and bags. I stay away from designer stuffs (unless I really love the design) but I do not want to compromise on quality either. That fact that I got something because I really like it, makes it worth the money I used to buy it.

Interesting... I have literally no interest in most accessories and have like one pair of shoes that I have had for years and keep wearing. Haha. :) Thanks for the response.
