First Cheeseburger in 8 Months…

Ok, so about 8 months ago I quit eating most meat. I still have a small amount when I make things like chicken soup or chef’s salad…but I rarely eat it. For the most part it seems to be working out fine. The other day though I started thinking about a cheeseburger and couldn’t quit. I finally gave in and made Hubby and I cheeseburgers for dinner. I made mine as healthy as I could…I cooked them in my Forman grill, squeezed every bit of grease out that I could and went light on the Mayo. It was delicious and it satisfied the craving. I still don’t eat much meat but I do find that every now and then I crave it.
BTW, the pic isn’t my burger but one I found online…looks good, huh?
Would you have given in to the craving? Do you eat meat or try to cut back? If you give in to a craving do you still try to keep it as healthy as possible or just do a total pig out?

Oh yeah, cheeseburgers.
They are so good they should be in a food group all their own.
Us meateaters loves a good cheeseburger, two is better with a tall pile of fries to go with.... and don't spare the condiments.

I try not to pig out, but I have horrible willpower. My Dr. said to just buy a small amount of something that you're craving like ice cream and not a half gallon. So I'm trying to only buy a small amount at a time. But I still want MORE!

Congratulations on being able to quit eating meat for the most part. I have been a vegetarian for a short while, but I wasn't able to quit meat all together. Every now and then I do get the craving, and my boyfriend eats meat aswell so it's easy to be tempted to just make dinner for the two of us and also eat meat. I do try to buy meat that's from biological farms, etc. and that have a brand that proofs the animal has had a good life (for as far as that's possible considering we people end it for them ). I can't help but feeling guilty when I eat meat, on the other hand I find it hard to resist as I've grown up with it and like the taste of some types of meat. Especially chicken or a grilled cheese and ham sandwich are hard for me to pass. Burgers aren't a problem, I don't like those .

I am glad you enjoyed it. My husband would kill me if I quit fixing him meat with his meals. I don't eat as much as he does.

Yeah I'm dying for a cheese burger too! We don't eat alot of ground beef cause I can't handle the fat content so we use ground turkey alot but I haven't tried to make it into a burger. Bocca burgers are good but I'm too cheap to buy them for our family of 5.

Okay, if you all want to eat the best burger that you have all had in your entire lives, come to any In N' Out in California. In N' Out has the best burgers in the U.S. I mean it, all of my friends, family and myself swear by In N' Out.

Okay, next time you come to Cali, if you can go to the La Verne, Glendora, or Baldwin Park In N' Out in LA County or the Ontario In N' Out, they are all great, and order the "Animal Style" burger, yes, it is seriously called the "Animal Style" burger, or get the cheeseburger or the double-double with everything on it. I have never been to the Bakersfield In N' Out, but then again, I don't go to Bakersfield often, and if I do it is because I am going to Fresno or I am going to Sacramento.

Everyone says that, but when I finally broke down and went into an In N' Out burger place, the burger I got was so dry and awful I could not even eat it. That was the one in Bakersfield, California, across from Krispy Kreme donut shop. It also had no flavor. I have never dared try that chain again.

Wow, first of all congratulations on staying off the pork all those months. But still, I'm assuming it's only pork that you've gotten rid of but not beef? Did you know that beef has more fat than pork?
Anyhow, though it's really fun to perhaps quit on pork all-in-all but it's a good source of protein where we get our energy so I doubt it's really all that healthy to take it all out.
Further, as for me trying to cut down of, I'm cutting down on fat. But it's somehow difficult too. Therefore, I just eat portions and not pig out anymore. Oh, I almost forgot, I'm not a fan of fastfood too, therefore I haven't eaten a cheeseburger in over a year hehee.. You just made me crave for it now. It's good that it's still Holy Week here where I've promised to abstain from eating pork, therefore I am still on track hehehe...

Hello Twoey.
Now this is becoming really annoying :D I just answered a topic about preferences on McDonald's food choices, from the friend previous on the list, and now THIS :D I am really craving a cheeseburger right now and there is a McDonald's 5-10 minutes from here, but i must say with pride, that in the 4-5 months since it opened, i never visited it :) I actually haven't bought a McDonald product in about 10 months at least, and come to think i don't think i bought at all this year from them. I have got from Burger King this friday when i went with my girl at the movies as they had the 1+1 offer on, so we got to menus for the price of one, with a medium french fries, 2 burgers and 2 0.25l cola's.
Well at the moment i am trying to cut back on fattening food in general, the above was an exception after 1 month of no fast food in town. In general i just eat to clench my hunger, i don't regularly pig out as you said :)

I love all meat, chicken, steak, burger, lamb, pork you name it I eat it..
I do try to not eat as much deep fried and greasy stuff.
I know lots of people that quit eating meat-good for them

I am a meat lover plain and simple. I could not give up eating meat for any reason. I love my stakes and burgers and living in a world without them is unthinkable. I am trying to eat less and be more healther but I realy do not want to give up the things I like.

I don't know how anyone can go off eating meat, its riddiculous. God gave us both meat and veg to eat. I wouldn't marry a girl who was a vegetarian, i couldn't deal with having salads for the rest of my life. Aren't you supposed to enjoy life everyday, to the fullest? I bet your husband enjoys eating meat more than you do.

I dont eat as much beef as i used to - I do however still eat chicken and pork.
Because of a deficiency in my blood...I dont heal very well - a little cut will take upwards of 3 or 4 weeks to heal...and will scar. If i cut things like Dairy, Beef, Lamb, Fish, Dark leafy greens (and a few other things) out of my diet I heal faster as these items have a component in (and acid of somesort) that actually cause problems with my blood and healing.

I don’t ever crave meat because although I am not a vegetarian I am not keen on certain types of red meat; maybe it’s because my mother used to force me to eat steak when I was a child so to this day I will not eat steak. I have eaten hamburgers like that one and they taste delicious if I’m in the mood for one which is not very often. Good on you for sticking to your resolve and for making your own burgers!

There is nothing wrong with eating meat. Its a good source of protine. I eat it almost every night with dinner. Sometimes two three times a day depending on what type of mood I'm in. Meat is good slow-burning fuel which is good to keep me strong healthy and happy.
I don't know what you have against meat. Its not as bad as you think.

Okay, I have cut back on my beef. I still eat chicken though. I rarely eat any type of beef, but i've found out that when I go a long time without beef, it sort of makes me sick when I finally have it. I try not to give into my craving for beef since it does make me sick. However I do give in every now and then, but I pay for it in the endrun. The only craving I have and give into is chocolate. Do you know how hard it is not to eat chocolate?
