I agree with you completely, listening to your favourite music can help reduce stress levels. I think it is because you simply stop thinking about those things that are giving you a stressful day.
I dont think it really matters what kind of music you listen to, classical, pop, rock, etc. As long as you enjoy the sounds that's all that really matters.

Oh yes it can make us smile, it inspire us but sometime it makes us cry as well. Reminding us of old memories with our dear ones who may be gone by now, music sometimes make our tears fall...

Yes that is so true! Music can really heal in a lot of different ways. It can relieve you from stress, can make you feel at ease even if you are down, it can get you going and give you energy, it can set the your mood and its part of our daily lives. Imagine life wothout music, it would be so dull.
NO MUSIC. NO LIFE.

Thanks to God that we were born in the planet which music lying in there. I can't imagine the world without music. Does anybody know the history of the music ? when and where it's started to play ? I myself enjoy many kind of music, and the last that make me so comfortable is the bagpipes instruments.

It calms me down whenever I am having a rough time or stressed out - yes.
Just listening to some music and hearing the lyrics it is like as if the
artist is talking to you through their song knowing how you feel and that
they understand what you are going through. Sometimes it all depends on
the sort of music you are currently listening to. If you are listening to
music that is not according to your mood, like for example if you're sad
but you are listening to some sort of tune that is not that sad. It might
be because it is taking your mind off of what is bothering you. It's
psychological for people to listen to music to heal - like I said, it
feels like they are speaking to you when you sit alone to just relax. If
you like to listen to the sounds of nature, or those new age meditation
music, it too can relieve your stress while you close your eyes and make
your mind go blank as you breathe slowly and relax.

music is a double wedged sword. it can heal as well as harm any living body.
a study depicts that the harsh, loud music; scientifically speaking NOISE; can harm your ears as well as brain. the experiment was done on crops. when soft music is played, it yielded more than the expectations, whereas the crops which were surrounded by noisy kind of music, yielded very less.
so listen cool, soft music and be stress free.
