Does a hot day make you very tired?Or is it because I am getting older?

Ours is a tropical country and the temperature gets so hot and humid in the summer months that it is unbelieveable.WHen I was in school or in college , I did not find this so tiring but nowadays I just get exhausted if I keep sweating . DO you also find sweating very exhausting? We have to drink plenty of water and get back our energy. I just cannot wait for summer to pass and the monsoons to begin. OLd, middleaged, and young people--please do share your views.

Hi Kalav, Yes, hot season ro the summer really makes me tired. it's the weather not the age hehehe. it's kinda draining. the heat is absorbing all our energies that we need to replace it with water...anything that can quench our thirst.

It is indeed draining. And for people who do not have a BP problem, it can be handled with a little bit of salty cool drinks.SALt and sugar would help us a bit.And when is your peak summer MSFRANCISCO?

Actually it was not so bad till the last week of March here.Only for the past few days it is getting terribly hot.It would get increasingly worse in May and hopefully we must get our monsoon by the end of June.

I think age has a lot to do with it and what type of hot weather. When I was young I loved the summers, the hotter the better, as I spent every spare minute at the beach. However since I came to the USA and live in the deep south I experienced just how unpleasant and exhausting the heat can be when it is a humid heat. I still love hot dry weather even though I am too old to toast on the beach..

I am certain that your mention of hot dry weather differs from what we have in India during the summer. And , as I grow older I find my swating is on the higher side.I am optimistic thta it will pass when I cross menopause.

Don't bet on it as I am long past menopause and if anything it got worse! As for hot dry weather in India I do not know how hot it can get there but when I lived for years in North Africa and traveled from Libya to Tunis for a few days we reached temperatures of 135 degrees Fahrenheit

Yes, it makes me very tired. But it also depend upon the age. When you are younger your capacity to resist humidity is more than the capacity as you grow older and older. When I am younger (13 years old) I don't feel hot too much, I just used to play many games in noon hours. But now a days I can't do my work properly even in a room. A.C. is required every time.

dear kalav, weather plays a big role in the a body of a person. when it is very hot, tendency is we perspire and if no replacement of water that has been lost is done, dehydration will make one feel very tired and sick. especially to people not used to that kind of weather. it goes with all the young, middle aged and old. thank you for this discussion. ann

Hi kalav, I live in a tropical country too, and I can surely relate to what you're saying. Around here it's been so warm in the last 6 weeks, there were a few rain showers but not enough to make the temperature colder. The warm weather makes me feel tired, and the sweat leaves me feeling sticky and dirty, so it is a must for all family members to take a bath at least twice a day (morning and evening). We've been consuming more water than I could imagine, and I hear it is going to be like this until the end of May, which is still a long way from now. Maybe it's also because of age but I guess the weather, which is really unbelievably hot, should be the one that's more to blame.

It is a living hell here too kalav. The weather is soooooo hot and going out means getting sunbaked. I do hope that the weather is a little kind to us as the prolong drought will only create much uneasiness to us especially to some who are getting the hot flashes...the hot weather makes it worse.

hi kalav, that is common to either children or old aged people to bear the hot waves comming in the summer, for the last 15 days we are also facing the same problem, what can we do,we cannot reduce our age to get resistance, than me my wife is feeling more hot in my house,i can adjust in any climate, but she will not adjust, neither we have an Air conditioner to afford huge money for it and for Electricity bill nor i have money to purchase the air cooler, but we are planning to have a air cooler for the time being, next year if everything is ok,we may opt for an Air conditioner, have a nice day

We have to suffer 4 months of summer march-june, this is for all groups of age.. I'm young and i feel very exhausted during summer.. It will get very hot during the month of may..They call it as " Kathiri Veyil" the ultimate phase of summer.. Air conditioners could protect upto some level, but nobody could stay throughout, once i go out of my room i feel the sun following me throughout and i sweat and my body becomes visible from my clothings, that much sweating i will get .. i drink a lot of fruit juices and water to keep my internal body cool..

Yeah, it really does, it just makes you want to stay in one place and not move an inch. It's like even just washing the dishes is so tiring, cause you're sweating all over cause it's extremely hot, and a normal electric fan cannot do anything to help you feel cooler. Bring me back my cold Christmas weather!

Well, I don't think we can really do anything about it, except wear more comfy clothes. LOL. I wish our company had a policy on wearing comfy clothes during summer, cause the company issued uniform is really too hot to wear.

Our body looses a lot of water when we sweat and I suppose age does have a role to play. I do get very tired nowadays and can't even rest as the temperature is so hot that you can't even lie down. All I do is keep drinking water but then need some energy so add glucose to it.
@kalav56 (11464)

I never thought of it before but I bet that you are right. If we dont drink a lot of fluids when its hot out then we can get dehydrated and that will make us tired. When the sun is out and the weather is warm and you can sit and bask in the sun it is SO relaxing. I love to sit on my porch in the shade when its really warm and read a book. In the summer my kids and I are outside all the time. Even when I wear sunblock I still get exhausted being out in the sun so it must be normal if you are saying the same thing about how exhausted you get being outside when its hot. I dont think its because you are older because I am only 26 and it happens to me as well.

Hi Kala, I think the age and health issues have some role, for e.g., sugar patients can’t tolerate much hot, in women after a particular age, sweating is a symptom of menopause. But in general each and every people get easily tired with hot. Kids those are playing outside get tired easily in summer. (I am watching the same with my son). Cooking is the worst work in summer but there is no other alternative. Personally I feel good in summer than in winter.

I am not sure if it is age related or whether it depends on how your body is feeling at the time. Personally I love the summer heat in comparison to the cold winter temperatures. Here in Australia it is a fairly dry heat but when the humidity is high it is draining and tiring. I still prefer it to the cold though. I rather feel a little tired than shivering!

Yu are in Australia Paula .YOu cannot dream of how it would be here in summer. It is very hot and humid here and we would just sweat like GOd knows what. It is very irritating. However, I have also heard thta in places like Delhi, where the weather is extreme summer or extreme winter, winter is also very tough.

hello kalav56, In our part of country i.e. North India, the weather has turned really hot and I suffer from excessive sweating. Due to this problem, I hate leaving my house. even when I am inside the house,I am restless and tired all the time. Even monsoons bring no relief as the weather turns more humid. Today only I went to a homeopathic doctor asking him to give me some medicine so that I sweat less.
