Can you be a hero?

This morning on the news, I read a touching story about how an unknown man jumped into frigid waters to help save a 2 year old little girl's life, waited to make sure everyone was safe and he left without giving a name. There are so many tragedies that happen in everyday life (ex: people killing for greed, power and so on) that it is hard to see some of the everyday good we project. My question is, will you go and save some stranger's life knowing that you may not make it?

I believe in people, and I would do whatever I can do to help another person. I think in many cases, it's not a thought of "will i die or not" but rather a thought of "this person needs help". I think we need more people like this in the world. It's a simple concept of "treat others as you wish to be treated". If you would expect someone to help you if you were in trouble, then it's only fair to rise up and help however you can when someone else is in trouble.

hi mylot friends For my part, I like helping people without their knowledge so this really the behavior of noble but humble himself before many people in need of assistance is important not to be a hero important to do the right thing and be satisfied when it is waiting for word of thanks, and if it does become greedy in return. I wish all the happiness in life.

When faced with an emergency situation, you aren't thinking 'Am I putting myself in danger?" Adrenaline takes over and you do what you have to do. I have been first on scene of several bad accidents. You don't think about it you just act and do what has to be done. But, being a hero, no, I would just be doing what I could to help someone in a bad situation.

No way. If my life is on the line i wouldn't risk it. I know it sounds selfish but there are other people depending on me and if i don't make it there won't be anyone for them to depend to.

We all are heroes in our own way. If you throw your garbage in a waste basket you are already a hero in your own way. Following traffic rules. Etc. Sometimes we don't need a life threatening situation just to prove that we are a hero.

I have never been in the situation where I have had to be a hero but I think when something happens you just react, you would do the first thing that came into your mind and not even think about it, and whether that would be jumping into the water, running into a burning building or pulling out your phone and calling the police/ambalance/fire brigade then that it what you would do. Id like to think that I would be able to do whatever it takes, but thinking about it the sensible thing would be to first call the emergency services, after all what happens when you get the person to safety and you dont know how to perform the medical actions needed, then putting your life at risk would be for nothing. I dont know what I would do if I had kids, or others that rely on me, would I do it knowing that my kids could be without their mother, I dont know. Thats something I dont have to consider right now but just wanted to mention it because I think that may become a factor in your actions. But Id like to think I would put myself at risk to save a stranger.
