What to do when you can't sleep?

I can't really sleep that easily, it takes about 20-30 minutes for me to actually sleep- sometimes even hours [when i'm scared or there's this weird sound i hear]..:D is there a cure for this..what do you do when you can't sleep- it's really opposite with my sister, once she lays done..within seconds she's asleep... What do i do..?

oh i envy those who can sleep easily.. me,it takes more than an hour to finally get some snooze.. most of the time (even when im so tired) im still up until 4 in the morning,like right now..

sometimes listening to music help me fall asleep.. reading is one way too,when your eyes get tired you might fall asleep

read in bed, listen to a meditation tape or dvd, do yoga, listen to relaxing music in bed, meditate, etc. just stay busy until u fall asleep.

I've had problems getting to sleep at night ever since I was a little kid, and all of the ideas that have been given on here can absolutely help you out, but I found, as more of a last resort, is to get sleep aid pills over the counter at a pharmacy. The stuff they use is the same as most allergy medication, only it's sold as just a sleeping pill (the allergy ones are cheaper, so just check the ingredients) just 1, 25mg pill works well for me when I have really hard times sleeping.

when I can't sleep, i listen to music, soothing music, i read books, and sometimes, I play games on my laptop....

Usually when a person have disorder in sleeping one of the reasons is not sleeping in a proper time. What time do you sleep at night? If you have iproper sleeping time it may cause insomia. The best way of it is to learn to sleep in a proper time. I know it is quite difficult at first but you have to make it a habit to sleep in a right time. Avoid drinking, drinks with cafaine or eating foods with cafaine.

If you can not sleep because of noise or because you're scared turn on the t.v. for a little while to get your mind off of it, it should also make you sleepy though for some people it does not. After doing this you should be able to sleep. I have also just thought about things and this has made me fall asleep.

Sleeplessness in an illness of the mind. When you go to sleep free up your mind by meditating or concentrating on your breathing. A good way is to count gradually till hundred while listening to yourself breathe. By the time you finish your count you will feel relaxed. This will also keep your mind occupied. Then try and feel your limbs and body relaxing. Lastly, try the breathing exercise again and this time relax your body with each breath. If you do this every night you will find that you are asleep in a few minutes. You start with meditation and then go to sleep. Hence it is equivalent to eight hours of meditation. Other things that you need to keep in mind include not exercising up to 3 hours before going to sleep and keeping away from bright screens of the TV or computer before you sleep.

If i did not get sleep i listen to the old melody songs or classical songs with low volume. You also try like this it may help you.

falling to sleep seem to be a very hard thing for me. when i feel sleepless i usually make hot milk, watch some tv and then try to to bed again. milk is one thing that makes me calm, especially warm mil, anyone else drink milk efore going to bed?

The best way to get sleep is by reading some books of interest. this will automatically induce sleep.

when you dont feel sleep during night times then the best way to bring sleep is by reading a novel or a book which interest you. this process will naturally brings sleep within 10-15 min. get over any depressions which will infact doesnt allow you to sleep.instead allow the mind to think of the good things that happened in that day and narrate it down.else count numbers keeping your eyes closed. this may also helps a lot.

well what i do is i try to watch boring shows so that i can sleep, sometimes i read forum online to have something to do so that my time will not be waste!

Lately I am having trouble sleeping too but what I do is listen to sentimental love songs on my ipod and that puts me to sleep. Drinking hot choco also helps.

well first of all find out if something is worrying you before you go to bed. if so u have to clear it out of your mind. try using meditation tapes which soothe your senses and you can fall asleep listening to it :) exercise so that you are tired when you go to bed. drink a glass of warm milk which also might help. if not anything, use your time productively on mylot or some other work that you might have so that you get tired and feel sleepy. later during the daytime you can take naps! :)

When i just cant sleep tendency is i read books, and then after sometime my eyes will be really heavy until i just cant take it anymore and then sleep . Hahaha but everytime i try the said method it always work ;) Try it too

hi, when i can't sleep, i used to read or if not watched tv and surf over the net. and sometimes i will drink milk. Milk has a substance called trytophan that promotes sleep.
