I have been trying really hard to lose weight this past month. so far I've lost 5 pounds already. but just today when I weighed my self I gained back 3lbs. yikes! my mom said it might be because of my period (it's my second day today). any of you experienced the same thing?

I'm not very particular with my pounds.. I just don't judge myself or let myself influenced by the scale, but I know if my period will due next week when I feel that my appetite changes, unfortunately increases.. but its ok, I kind of enjoy of eating a lot at the moment coz I know I'm going to loose it anyway when my period arrives coz I know I'm going to lose my appetite..

i think i have... there is just something about that time of the month that makes us retain the water in our body. don't worry much too much about it especially if you are sure that you have been following a strict diet and has been losing weight regularly for your exercise.

two weeks before my period, usually I noticed that my appetite increased, I just feel more hungry than I used to every time I eat. yup, I always gain like 5 lbs, however, the week my period arrives, I don't have any appetite at all.. even, there's my favorite food served to me or someone treats me to fancy restaurant, I just don't get myself why I'm still not in a mood to eat even though I haven't eaten anything yet.. so the pounds I gained just naturally come off until my period is over and I'm back again to my regular normal appetite..

I don't bat an eye at 5lbs over or short because you can loose or gain that in water weight. If you see a big difference like 10 or 15 lbs. then you have need to worry about the yo yo effect on your weight going up and down. And, yes, it is very common for woman to retain water during that time of the month. There is also bloating involved there too. I don't think it is too much to worry about. 5lbs can be gained and then lost again overnight all because of water weight.

Hello Maan, I don't think there's a connection of gaining weight because of having period. The only thing I can relate with it is that most probably you gained weight, say like most of us before our period we crave for foods we tend to eat any foods we like reason why we gain few pounds... I didn't experienced it though. Sometimes it depends on the age of a person... teenager tends to gain more weight because of the energy spend and there's the tendency of the body to meet the needs or demands of the body. Hormonal changes may also correlate with gaining weight. It is the will of the person to follow his/her regimen in losing weight. Lots of water, exercises, proper diet, have some good rest.
