Hi mylotters, I have an auntie and her dog is a vegetarian! I was very shocked and surprised when i knew it. I don't know whether the dog does not want to eat meat or my auntie only gives him the vegetables soup and biscuits, because my aunties is a vegetarian. What about you? Have you ever seen a vegetarian dog? Do you think they are forced to eat vegetables as there are no other food for them? What do you think?

Is the dog healthy? It's an unnatural way for a dog to eat. Animals are mostly carnivorous, whereas humans can live well on a vegetarian diet. I feel sorry for the dog but I would rather him be vegetarian than eat some of the crappy dog food that is available. Most non-premium dog food contains something called "animal digest" which is ground up animals that shelters have destroyed, garbage and other horrid things to provide cheap filler for the food. Essentially, the dogs that eat this food are cannibals and that is a terrible thing to do to them.

LetranKnight, maybe your dog's tastes have changed. They do, just like humans. Will she eat scraps of food or is she just not eating at all? If she's not eating at all you will probably want to take her to the doctor. If she just doesn't like her food try mixing in some green beans, they love those, or pour some chicken or beef broth over it. I usually put some canned food in my dog's bowl and add some water and mix it all up. That makes a sort of gravy that they both really love. Any vegetables I add, they eat like candy!

Dear friend, I wished all living things in this world would be vegetarian. May be many animals would be saved from those cruel deaths for meat, flesh or may for others things. As a vegetarian my self I enjoy my life being one like that.

my puppy isnt a vegetarian but she sure loves vegies. She eats any kinds of vegies. I think its good for her since its nutritious. I think pet owners should introduce and include vegetables in their pets' meals.

it's the fist time that i heard of that a vegetarian dog. in my common life ,all the anminal especially the dogs and cat are most carnivorous.a vegetarian dog is a fresh thing for me . from the other point of view, your anut, however, is probably not giving her dog all of the nutrients ,he needs with only soup and biscuits, that's not good for his teeth or his dietary health.

I think my auntie also gives him something else instead the veggie soup and biscuits. As the dog looks quite healthy and energetic.

It could be possible some dogs will do that, but for people this is new one because most of the dogs like to take meat anyhow you have shared nice one.

I have not ever seen a vegetarian dog and I have to wonder how healthy this particular pooch is although I suppose if he is getting protein in vegetarian form he may well be fine. I would be concerned though because as far as I know canines need meat in their diet.

My dogs eat all kinds of vegis, however they just don't eat vegis. They eat Pro Plan and meat. When pets are at a home that only serves certain things, they eat what is given. If u leave an animal outside they will forage for themselves. They will eat meat when they have a chance. REMEMBER ALWAYS LUV/ CARE FOR YOUR DOG/ PET, THEY WILL ALWAYS LUV U..

Dogs should have meat or another form of protein. That's what their bodies are made to use to its best advantage. Your auntie's dog could end up very sick from not getting the meat protein he needs.

I have a friend who also just gives vegetables to his dogs. He says they eat it and are quite healthy. I guess it's okay then, as long as there is also variety, and maybe supplements will help too.

Hello lulumartin, I wonder, probably it's one of the reasons why my dog doesn't eat that much. it's either that she's sick or simply she would prefer vegetables. if that is the case then my mom wouldn't have that sort of a problem because she too prefers vegatable as break fast. i have dog food but recently she doesn't eat that either, i feel somethings really wrong

hi, LetranKnight. I hope your dog is okay with her food now. Perhaps you might want to offer her some other food and see whether she wants.

Glad to know that your auntie made the dog as vegetarian. So far I was thinking how a vegetarian will feed the dog with non-vegetarian items. I do not rear any bet animals. If the street dogs comes to our house we will feed only vegetarian items as we are vegetarian.Vegetarian food as equal as non-vegetarian items.Elephant, bulls are very strong, they eat only gross and vegetarian items only. But, in the western countries Cows and buffaloes are compelled to eat non-vegetarian item which they do not like. But all are liking vegetarian items.Happy myLotting.

Dogs are naturally carnivores. I would wager that antie is the one who has made the animal a vegetarian. I wonder if it is really good for him and how much he craves (like a human would)a good piece of meat. It saddens me to think of a dog going through his life without eating something which is by instinct something he craves.

I feel shocked with what you said too. It's really unbelievable. in some ways I would consider it as a joke. I think maybe the dog just has no experence to eat meat in its young age so he/she is not used to the meat any more. being vegetarian dog it's really special, but I don't know it's good for the dog's health or not. it's kind of againt the nature. I always think vegetarian people are very easy going, so I suppose vegetarian dog would be easy going too.

My dogs eat vegetables, especially if I'm eating them. Anything good for me is good for them...or so they think. I don't know that I would feed my dogs only vegetables, though, I think some meat is good. The dog food I feed my dogs has both meat and vegetables.
