Pink or red bananas are rarely available in the market. It's skin will be either purple or red, pink mixture of colour. The flesh is cream or pinkish in colour. The red banana is usually small in size and will be bulky compared to yellow banana. It will have slightly rasberry taste. Otherwise it is like yellow banana fruit. Do you get red banana in your place? Have you eaten it? Do you like the taste of it?

Hello Buchi! I have not seen Red banana at least in my city (New Delhi). It is a news to me that bananas are available in purple, red or pink colours. I would love to taste it, if I get hold of it.

It will be available in big bazaars, and big markets. In Bangalore we have hopcoms shops by the Government. We get there too. Taste it whenever you get it.

Hi Buchi, I have seen red banana in the morning bazaar when I stayed in a small town before. I stayed in that hilly region for almost two years. The bananas looks unique in the their reddish-purple skins. I didn't buy any for I wondered whether there were as delicious as the ordinary banana. Just now I took a brief look at the content about the red banana at wekepidia. I learn that the pinkish flesh of it is softer and sweeter than the ordinary yellow banana. Anyway there is no harm to have a taste of the red banana if I see any in the market next time. In a word, I still prefer to take the yellow banana which is not so sweet Happy posting

And I will take the photo of them to share with you here. The thing is, I haven't seen any in the local market here yet instead the morning market I have mentioned above

Red banana has got it's own taste. Just for knowing the taste, try once. My friend used to search for red banana and buy it. She only told me that it has got many good qualities. Since it is not available freely, I buy it very rarely, whenever I get it.

Hi Buchi, The red/pink banana is available in Kerala but I have never seen the same in Delhi. Here the shop keeper who brings things from Kerala selling this banana occasionally. I ate the same long before and hardly remember the taste now. In South there are different types of banana available, means different shapes, size etc. but in Delhi I have seen only one type.

Even DPK wrote he has not seen it in Delhi. In Bangalore, we get it in big markets, sometimes in hopcoms, which is run by the Government. I make it a point to buy it whenever I get it as it is rare to get them. I cut it into pieces, add coconut gratings and serve along with food items.

I have seen dark bananas that are like reddish burgundy in color at the grocery store. I have heard that these type of bananas can be used for making foreign dishes of some sort. I have never tried them. They looked dried out. I want to taste one of them to see if I may like it. I always wondered about this type of fruit. From your description of it, I think that the taste would be appealing to me.

yes I think they are the ones. But they will not be dried. That only is confusing whether, what you say is the same or not. The taste will be good. Try once.

I do not get the Red Bananas here locally. But, I do make it a point to taste, nay relish the fruit whenever I sight the same. However, we do get the famous "Nanjungud Rasabale" here, which is more or less similar in taste, but not in color.

Yes. It is available in our place but not regularly available. sometimes it is available. I have tasted it once. Though it tastes good, compared to the regular banana, i feel the sweetness is little low. But it is ok.

We have those kinds of bananas here in our place but I really dont like it that much. I prefer eating the yellow ones cause they are sweeter. I also like eating banana split and getting a red banana is not right for it so I'll just have to stick with the yellow ones.
