How do you celebrate your birthday? Or do you celebrate your birthday?

I just celebrated my hubby's birthday, he planned his schedule before and he is half-day off today. That is why we both had lunch and dinner together today.
I have suggested that we went to some special resturants and have a very special meal. However he thinks we should have meals nearby and finally we dined out and had Japanese food. We had a very happy day today and didn't spend a lot of money, as we didn't travel a long way to the resturant and the price here in my town is far more cheaper than the resturants of others towns.
I have not celebrated his birthday with him since we got married 4 years ago. As we both think it quite waste time and money, we only had a good meal at home on his birthday these 4 years. However, this year, I start to think I should celebrate this special day of him, as I think he must be excited if we dined out and have some shoppings on his birthday. I bought a birthday cake for him as well(which originally I wanted to bake one for him) Frankly, we both were so happy and had a wonderful romantic time.
So how do you celebrate your birthday? Please share your wonderful experience~

I treat myself to good food. I try to relax the day. Take a day off in my life. I try to give my uncles family cake. Sometimes it is not what others can give you in your birthday. It is what you can give to others that counts.

Hello arreolabryan
You are so nice that you treats your uncles so well.
You are so mature. I remembered I was very sad on my 28th brithday, as my family didn't remember the date. My hubby(boyfriend at that time) asked me to think like what you said, after that, I started to think it is time for me to give others surprises and not just take from others.
Thank you for your respond.

Me and hubby are not so fuzzy about celebrating birthdays. It is enough for us to greet each other and celebrate it simply at home with a simple birthday cake or some food that I prepare cooking.
It is very seldom that we dine out because even if there is no special occasion, if we have enough money to spend, we can go eat on our favorite pizza house. It would be more practical for us to spend our special day at home and cook foods and share the food with our friends or relatives than to go out.
If someday I would have more to spend, then by all means we will celebrate his birthday or my birthday on a romantic tour trip. Happy Mylotting.

before when I was younger, i really don't celebrate it, but later in life i realized that it only comes once a year so why not celebrate it. its a good time to have a bonding with your family and friends. but i prefer a simple celebration, a dinner with my family and i prepare food for my friends or treat them out.

Hello midnightbliss
Me too. I think why not celebrate this big date, for me, having a birthday cake and some greetings are enough.
Thank you for your response.

Ever since my first son was born, we haven't really celebrated my birthday. My son was born on my birthday. It was a nice present for me. Now, there is always cake and ice cream on my birthday, but the name on the cake isn't mine anymore.
Often times, I would just be an afterthought. People would say, oh yeah! it's your birthday too, happy birthday to you too!
But, I'm not complaining!

Hello bounce58
It is special that your son was born on the same date. Then do you still want a birthday for your own?
Thank you for your response.

i and my hubby never celebrate our b'day anymore since 3 years ago i think... it is just a waste of money and anyway we treat everyday as special... so we don't really have to do it just on our b'day... but we do something special for ourselves whenever we want, any day of the year... :-) take care and have a nice day...

I don't really like big parties, I think they're a waste of time and money too. I've let a few birthdays pass without any sort of celebration, even supposed milestones like Sweet 16. I didn't do ANYTHING the year I turned 16. Of course, there are some years were I really want to do something special like a small gathering of friends and family and a bit of cake. I think all that matters really is that people remember and wish you a happy birthday.

Small gathering is enough if the guests are all your family and friend.

Absolutely, I will celebrate my birthday . But how I celebrate my birthday, I will just share with you .First , I think I will just invite some my close frineds togetehr to have a small part ,which can provide us an atmosphere of the birthday. Then I will sing as we like ,which can give us a lot of relax moment for us. It is the usual way that we celebrate our birthday.

first and for most, I SPEND MOST OF MY TIME with my family (including
uncles, aunts, cousins and grandparents). We usually go for DINNER together.
and the following day would be my FRIENDS' DAY. I treat them to the cinema and go
eat at the restaurant and if we are all fine, then we go to the beach. :)

In fact I didn't celebrate my birthday for many years. My boyfriend never celeberated birthday for me and me too.Because we work at different place.Birthday often is at work day.so we do not have mutual time to be together on birthday.I envy you can live together. It must be a wonderful birthday.I think how to celebrate a birthday is not important, the couple can be together and love each other is the most important thing.

This does sound like a Great way to spend your husbands birthday, and well worth the time spent together for sure. I might have to consider something nice like this for my husbands birthday or the weekend before or after depending on what day his falls on. I know we did something like this for our Anniversary this yr. and then grabbed a movie and brought it home so it was a great romantic time as well.

hi hello mickey my friend Nelda took me backto Tustin to the dedication ceremony for our New Tustin Library. this was so special as I had worked for 23 years in the old one, and this new one is sitting right on top of where the old one was. its just a beautiful library with tons of new computers, loads of shelves and tons of new books, modern lighing,it jus thas it all. best part I got to talk to four of my best library coworkers we had a group hug all out us are oldsters, from 70 to my 83 and people smiled when they saw us all hugging like that. this was so special to me. then we ate at my favorite restaurant in tustin. My friend Nelda bought my lunch, I had a huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs, one of my favorites and we talked a mile a minute, it was a lovely day for me, very special. i am in Gold crest in Garden Grove and miss my o ld home town Tustin so muchalways love to go back there.

Hello Hatley
It is always good to have fun with old friends. To attend the dedication ceremony for the new library in this special date, especially you had worked there for over 20 years, but now it is all brand new, new building, new books, new computers and so forth. It is a very good memory.
Thank you for your respond.

My husbands birthday was just the other day and mine is today. We usually dont do anything special for our birthdays. It's really hard having four children and finding a babysitter to go out for even 2 hours. I'm hopeing this year will be a little bit different. I'm hoping we can go out to dinner within the next week just to get out and have some time to ourselves. Usually we just cuddle on the couch and watch a movie together. I really enjoy spending time with him and it's so hard with him working 6 days a week.

I celebrate my birthday usually with a simple blow out with family and sometimes friends. We'd go out to a restaurant and eat. Sometimes we just order pizza and watch movies at home. It doesn't really have to be special. Just a simple one is enough. :)

Hello frontvisions
We dined out and had a birthday cake which is less surprising when comparing with my sister on how to celebrate her birthday or how she celebrate her hubby's birthday. She always spend a lot of money and takes a lot of photos and put them on facebook, then many other people would know where she went and what she had as a present. Everybody looked with envy (as they wrote that on her facebook)at her latest purchase and activities.
I agree simple is enough. My hubby and I like simple attitude to life.
Thank you for your response.

I am the kind of person who don't like big party, I like to celebrate my birthday in private party with family and really close friend. Sometimes I like to be left alone on my birthday and do what ever I enjoy and pleased my self like go to spa and get massage until I feel I have new energy to carry on.

Hello nangisha,
I like that feeling too. I only want to have sweet time with my family, I didn't have a big party for me yet, maybe that's why I don't know the feeling of a big party. I had a big party when I was small didn't recall how great the party was.
Thank you so much for your response.
