I have a son,he is one year and nine monthes. He can only say a few words.
For example: eat,go,full,father,mother,down,etc.
He has a brother (my sister 's son)who is three monthes younger than him.
His name is Haohao.Haohao can say more words than my son,but he is younger.WHY?
Haohao can say some Phrase, and he very like talking.
but my son doen't.he used body language to express himself. Maybe he didn't like opening his mouths to talking.
when did your son begin to talk? I mean he can say the whole sentence.
thank you ,my Lotting...
Have a nice day.

My son was late to begin to speak. I can't remember it quite clearly. But perhaps when my son was nearly 3 years old, then he started to speak. Actually it kept me worried for a long time because of it:) But once he started to speak, he said it a lot and there was a big improvement. This is why if I heard any friends told me that their children were late to speak, I know how to comfort them. Being late is not a problem, because once the baby starts to speak, he/she will catch up with others soon.
I love China

Hi, x. I think it was about two years old with my son. Or almost until he was three years old. But now, my son is eight years old and he can talk in complete sentences very well. Sometimes the youngest can do more than the oldest. That is how it is with my kids too. My daughter could do more than he could when he was at the same age as she was. I think that they just learn from each other. That is why, the youngest can do more than the oldest.

Hi cream!
Girls usually learn more quickly than boys at the beginning.
do you agree?

Do not push him to behaviour as what you expect. Every children will have different learning process, some are a little fast and some are slower. However, it doesn't mean that he reacts slower. Some of the giant scientist learned things slow when they are in childhood and they did an amazing scientitific research later on. If they are weak in some way and they might strong in another way. Be patient.

I just married and did not have a baby right now. I planned to have one after my job is stable and the moment I have enough preparation for a baby.I know that it is not easy to have a baby and then raise him to be an adult. It required a lot of patient and skills during that process.

To my experience 90% of the child starts talking well between the age 2 to 3. Its not a matter when they starts speaking, but be sure he is active, playing, trying to communicate, eating well and trying to study new things thats all !!

I have both a son and a daughter. My son is the oldest. I knew he understood words for a long time, but he did not start really talking, and saying phrases and sentences until he was about one year and six months. We went to the zoo, and all of the sudden he was excited and telling me everything that he saw. Children learn things at different times. Perhaps your son is learning something that his cousin Haohao is not learning right now. Another thought I have is that you respond to him quickly when he gestures, so he does not have to talk to get what he wants from you. If your son understands you when you talk to him, then you know he can hear alright and that his brain is okay.

every child must have a different ability. My boy, speak with little current when aged one year and a half. son of my brother only one year old can already speak fluently. There is also a new two-year old can speak fluently. so you do not compare your child. every child has different developmental abilities.

Every child has a different learning ability and no comparisons should be drawn between two children.I have a son who is 2.5 years old.He was born very weak and weighed only 1.5 kg .He performed all activities very late like sitting on his own, walking and teething but as far as his speaking ability goes ,he started speaking full sentences when he was only 2 years old.He is now doing good and has great presence of mind and very active.
I hope your son will speak full sentences very soon.
God bless him.

i stressed over this too for some time when i noticed that my daughter hasn't spoken as much as i expected, given that my mom told me before i started reciting poems when i was 1 yr 4 months old. but then i realized each kid really has different development stages. as long as he responds to you, then you shouldn't worry anything. but if you are, then you can talk to his pediatrician and tell your concerns.
what preschool teachers say is that parents should talk to children more often and that only respond when they "speak" ex: instead of giving him milk when he just points, tell him to say 'please give me milk" then see if he tries.
