Are you stuck due to the Icelandic volvano?

It's unbelievable what a major impact the volcanic ashes from Iceland have. It's been 5 days now that there is no aviation in Europe. Many of my colleagues are stuck in their holiday location or wherever they've been for work. A few friends are separated from their partners who went abroad for meetings. It starts having a major impact on the economy as well.
Are you stuck somewhere and can't come home or go on holiday due to the ashes? Or do you know someone who is?

I am not stuck anywhere due to the volcano erupting spewing ash into the atmosphere and thankfully I dont intend on flying anywhere soon. But I am expecting some mail from abroad which I think has been delayed due to this natural disaster so it is affecting me but just not in the way we all read about, ie. travel.
I wonder how many other people have been indirecttly affected by this volcano in Iceland, and I wonder when it will stop. The last time it erupted it lasted months.

Oh yes, mail is delayed. Deliveries of foreign food is reduced and delayed. It already has an economical impact. And it's the last thing British Airways needs after the recent strikes. Hopefully it's over soon before airlines go bust as well. Not sure they would survive this for a number of months...

I hope so, too. I luckily don't have to fly in the moment, but I know many people stranded.

It has certainly caused problems for my neighbour. He flew London/Mexico for a wedding and was due back days ago. He must have just caught one of the first cancellations.
The airlines are getting restless now and accusing the Air Traffic Control of over-reacting. Easy for a desk jocky to criticise but what about the man who has to make the decision, where if he is proved wrong then hundreds can die. Tough call.
The surface winds are due to change in the next few days but the jet stream runs west to east all the time so no respite there and they say the particles go up to 50,000 feet.

At least he made it to the wedding. Imagine planning to get married abroad and then not being able to go!
I know it is hard for many in the moment, but if there is a real risk, I'd rather they are overly careful. As you say - better than people dying.

I imagine they are sad. A honeymoon is such a special occassion. A friend of mine booked a 'once in a lifetime' holiday to Dubai. It won't happen now and as it is classed 'force majeur' he won't even get his money back.

Its really an unbearable natural disaster which has affected the whole world. People who have planned their trips during this time faced a lot of problems due to this.Hope the volcanic erruption stops and make the journey without any hindrance.

It is so frustrating that it just can't be predicted how long it takes. Everday we think planes will start again and then a new announcement comes through. I spent a night once at an airport due to fog - I wouldn't want to spend a week.
