Yes I killed it even it was still a baby one for future survival. I don't like to but just minutes ago, I tried to rest from typing here in mylot and went to get a glass of water than suddenly when I looked into our mirror, I saw a thing moving like a snake in the floor. I took a closer look and I noticed that it has scales. It was a snake!!! I panicked and woke up my grandma and maid but our maid was too scared to even see it so I got no choice. I would not want to kill it but for safety purposes I got to. The funny thing is all I can think to kill it is a softdrink bottle. Yes, I could get some opinions here that he is so small or I am cruel to animals but I think it was the best coz when it grows up, it might attack us in our house for food searching coz this place is urban and they have no place to hunt like in the wilds. It was an ordinary snake so I think it is not endangered or something but I am sad for him. What will you do if you were able to see a baby snake inside your house?

If it's a poisonous snake, or I just can't tell, I'd kill it too. But if it's a non poisonous snake, I'd find a way to catch it and throw it outside.

It is hard to distinguish if a snake is poisonous or not. Do you have idea how to distinguish it?

What will I do? kill it myself. I rather kill it, than post a risk for all people in the house. A snake may have life, but the life of the people are more important. Here in my country we don't "technically" have a government office who will have the expertise to handle such animal, what they will do will probably be what I will do. But that is scary because if a baby snake is there, there maybe other snakes nearby.

You wouldn't have to worry about that. Mother snakes aren't protective of their young as humans are.

Yeah, I have been thinking if its mother is somewhere near our house. I wish that it won't get inside and go looking for her child

First of all don't panic. Second of all, find something to trap it in. third, release it out in some woods or outdoors. If you are too scared to handle the snake yourself, usually they have animal control that are trained to remove those types of animals. Taking matters in your own hands is a bit dangerous, because snakes can be lightning fast. Do some online research on snakes, edicuate yourself on them. It doesn't matter if the snake is endangered or not, the fact is it could have been venoumous, and trying to kill it could have resulted in you getting killed. Where I live there are some black snakes about. Sometimes they get in the lower-level apartments (including ours) And, the cats usually find them first. To protect the cats, we usually remove the snakes, or have maintence remove them. Because one of two things would happen. The snake would be injered/killed by the cat, and or the snake would attack the cats or us. So we don't take chances.

It is in the middle of the night so the first thing that came to my mind is kill it LOL

You are one barve person. i would never be able to get close enough to a snake to kill it. My cat is good at killing snakes. it took the life of a pretty big one last summer. Thankfully he just left it out in the garden iinstead of bringing it into the house as a trophy. We once had a little snake out in the hall way. It had managed to get it's ugly head trapped under the wrough iron door. My father in law was staying with us at the time so I did the womanly thing and just let him deal with it urgh!

I am not brave either. I even called for the others for them to do something but because I am the only one capable of doing that, I cannot just leave it crawling there LOL . Luckily I got hold of myself together and managed to kill that one. I always repear this statement in my mind "it is small I can manage it" over and over again hahahaha

Though I will not kill the snake, I will get it killed by someone. I do not have the courage to confront a snake however small it is. I am so afraid of snakes that after reading your discussion I am not able to concentrate and I am trying to look around my room for snakes. Yes I agree they have life but what about my life?

Lol, when I imagine it, I still get the creeps . I also have no courage to kill it at first that is why I called my grandmother and maid which is currently sleeping that time but in the end, I was the one who killed the snake :D Survival instincts maybe? LOL

I would not be able to kill it, lol. I can't even kill spiders. I would try to put it into something and then bring it outside and watch it go wherever :)

I can also do that but thinking that it could grow bigger makes me shiver LOL!

I guess it depends on where you live.. maybe if I would live in your area I would be afraid of it too and kill it. Where I'm originally from there really aren't dangerous snakes, so I guess it all depends :)

I'd catch him and send him outside but not in my yard. It depends though. If the snake is poisonous I'd have done the same thing as you unless it was a grown snake then I'd probably run.

You did what you thought you should.I'm definately not a snake lover.I would probably call someone to get rid of it.I'd be grossed out seeing it killed.I would call animal control or maybe the police.

I would react the same way you did. I am so afraid of snakes and worms or any crawling creatures really makes me shiver. Even if it still a baby snake, I'd say you have done the right thing. Yes it is a pity to kill something so tiny but we all know most snakes are dangerous to humans and other animals when they really grow big. So why wait till it grows up and kill it when you have the chance now?

It is true. We don't know if it will come back when it grows up so it is better to make sure that we will be safe in the future .

I think I will also kill it. A snake is very dangerous. I know I may sound cruel but it's best to risk killing a snake than to regret not doing so for the future. I hope animal lover here n mylot will not hate me for what I posted as a response. This is just my opinion. PEACE!

that's really brave of you and i'm glad you're not hurt. if i were in your situation, i would be running stupidly out of our house and asking for help. yes, it may seem harsh but a baby snake is still a snake. when it grows, it would be more vicious and 10 times scarier. there was this one time when there was a 'bubuli' at the other side of our window. i had to call our guy neighbor to help us. nothing really happened; turns out bubulis are just big harmless lizards.

I Wouldn't have killed it. I would have cought it safely and put it outside. I've never killed a snake, and never will they are beautiful animals and very helpful keeping rats/mice/spiders and other pest populations down. I wany a pet snake one day. I love the way they feel gliding through my hands and fingers when you hold them. Non poisonous of course :)

Reptiles can attack any time, without warning. That is not a cruel thing, unless if the creature is not poisonous. Discretion can be done if you are a reptile-lover.

This reminds me of the time when a big snake came to our dining room . . . Good thing that my elder brother was home at that time that we both killed that big snake .. It was pretty scary to kill the snake but we have no choice, otherwise it would have biten us . .

I get your point, animal lovers may think that what you did was cruel. But I guess anyone would understand that our basic instincts sometimes over power us. Just like what you did. You killed the snake because during that time, killing it was the only option that came into your mind. If I was in the same situation, I would have probably did the same. I have a niece and a nephew age 2 and a month old at home, I can't imagine both of them getting hurt or bitten by a stray animal, so my protective instincts would prevail too.

Snakes can be scary. They are quick and quiet creatures that can live almost anywhere. We used to live in Florida and saw quite a lot of snakes. At first the the very thought of a snake would be enough to petrify me. I'm still not that crazy about the snake kingdom, but my fear is not so great anymore.

I'd kill it too of course. OR trap it in a really secured container until the authorities come for it.

I will ruuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnn!!!! I have a strong fear to snakes since childhood. :(( Maybe because I saw movies that snakes do kill people. So, if i sees a snake, I would rather run that kill it. I don't know how to kill a snake after all. :D
