For all of you Moms out there, my 4 month old has begun to teethe already (at 3 months old) What do you think is the best way to help my lil one through this. I don't use orajel, but the Hylands teething tablets really seem to help. I've tried a couple of other things but what do you all think is the best things to use to help soothe my lil one?

I have resorted to giving my baby rusks for calming his itching gums.He seems to like it as well.teethers are a good idea.put them in the fridge and when cold, give it to your baby.also, try to keep him busy with play,as the other poster said. This I found out with my son.he responds well to play,so keeping him busy with play helps a lot.I have not used any gel with both my kids.

Well, actually rusks are just like biscotti in the way they are made..it is just small slices of bread that are baked till they are dry. These are very crispy but not hard for the child to bite..it provides some relief from the itching they feel when they are teething.I believe you get them in gerber or other baby food brands..they are called teething foods..try asking at your local store,am sure you will find them.

My daughter is nearly 5 months now and also started teething at around 3 months old. She now has two lower front teeth already since about a month. If anything came near her mouth she would go at it like a vampire!! If you let her near your face she would immediately bite on your chin!! She was also very unsettled and we tried lots of bite rings which worked for a bit but found because of the shape of them (maybe just the ones we had?) she couldn't bite down as hard as she needed. We gave her Osanit balls which are little tiny herbal balls made from natural pain relieving ingredients and she seemed to like these but they didn't help too much either. My daughters teeth came through really fast and I think they did because my boyfriend just let her bite his (clean!) finger quite alot. She could apply more pressure to his finger than to the bite rings and it didn't really hurt! When her teeth broke through she stopped biting his finger automatically. It worked for us anyway! I know alot of people wouldn't like this though! The other thing that really helped was as someone else said distraction through cuddles, love and play! Also, I had her in the baby bjorn carrier quite alot so she could be close to me and cuddle while biting on the Baby Bjorn bib which was also helpful to her when my boyfriends finger wasn't available! 'Good luck!

Do what your doing now. Buy some teething rings, she is going to want to bite on everything. (I have an 18 month old and she was even born with 1 tooth)Keep liquids your giving her cold, for it helps. rock her a lot. It will help to relax her, and try to keep her distracted. The more she is entertained the less likely she is to pay attention to her sore gums.

I dont recommend any jels or tablets. It is good to give some tooth rings. so she just play with it. Rusks are also good. Its time to give food other than milk. Try some thick juices. Always keep the mouth of the baby clean. Other wise the gum can be infected. After giving milk or food always give water, it will help to clean the mouth.
