My boyfriend is moving out this weekend. I told him I would buy him 10 items for his new house, (because I am moving in also in a few months) I am making a list of 10 top things needed when you go from your parents house to your own house. What do you think is the most important things you need? I want to see how others views differ from mine, especially considering I have never moved from my parents yet.

When we moved to our new house, I bought sala set and dining set. These are the new things that I purchased when we transferred to our new house. The rest were our old things. . .

It depends on where I will be moving. If I'll be moving to a totally empty house or apartment then the following would be the basic things I would need to have for me to be able to settle in comfortably. 1) Aircon: I can't sleep when it's too hot especially that I'm living in a tropical country. 2) Fridge: I need to stock foods as I hate dining out everyday. 3) Stove: for cooking 4) Set of cooking and kitchen wares 5) dining table and chairs 6) airpot 7) bed 8) furnitures 9) coffee maker 10) closet This will be my list. :)

Well, aside from the obvious furniture, which I'm assuming you're not buying for him, here are some ideas of things that a new household would find useful. * Cookware. Pots, frying pans, utensils, mixing bowls, etc. Even if you're not an avid cook, you should still have basic cookware. Everyone needs to eat, and you can't always live on restaurant meals or microwave dinners. * A shower curtain. Sounds kind of silly, but it's a small detail that's easily forgotten when moving. * Towels, both bath and kitchen varieties. * Hangers, shoe rack, other clothing storage. * A broom and a mop (and a vacuum if there's carpet, but that's a pretty expensive item). * Lighting- a lot of homes and apartments don't have adequate lighting. A nice standing lamp or table lamp for the living room is a nice touch. * A door mat. Trust me, having a door mat near the entry door will help keep the rest of the house much cleaner. It's shocking how much dirt gets tracked into a house from outside. * Trash cans for kitchen and bathroom * Laundry hampers * A wall clock Also, don't rule out decorative items like throw rugs, wall art, mirrors, etc. A house needs more than utility items to really feel like home.

i wouldn't have a clue expect the things you need every day. i'm in the process, of packing the ex's bags for him. of the stuff that is his. then we have to spilt the big furnture, but i don't know when that will happen. but i'm having fun sorting things out, and making sure he only gets what is his. it's now down to the kitchen stuff. which is harder to pack. but when i sent him on his way last week, i sent him mostly his clothes, and a lap top. cause he went back to his parents place to stay.

When we moved on a new place, we first prioritized having chairs and tables, bed, pans and pots, rice cooker, microwave and a refrigerator. For me, those are the basic things everyone of us need.

Things he will need are pots & pans, towels, dishes, matress, lamps, toilet paper, soap. Probably the most important things are the towels, soap and toilet paper. The rest of it you can rough it for a few days without. What is he going to be able to take from his current place? Any furniture? If not, consider going to the Goodwill or Thrift Store to find couches, chairs, tables, etc. Sometimes they have really good stuff and it is at a greatly reduced price.
