I haven't considered the thought of working abroad before but now, I already do. Given the unemployment status in our country, it seems that going abroad is a wise choice. It' like a 'ray of hope' for those looking for high-paying jobs. But the hardest part is missing your family back home. But I think it's part of growing up. We make sacrifices as we grow.
I want to work abroad. What are the considerations that I have to take?

First consideration is, do you have a sure job abroad? Because so many of us Filipinos are craving to work abroad, there are so many soulless opportunists. If you have a sure job, then look at the offer The salary offered, will you be able to get that same salary here? If the answer is no, then go ahead. If the answer is yes, then what's the point in going abroad to work and be separated from your family. Don't be swayed by the catchphrase so many agencies use, you will get $400 or $500 in a month. Yes, it sounds huge if you convert it to Peso. But you can get that amount working here. Last would be your emotional state, if you are ready to leave your family behind and face the loneliness of working in another country.

Hi hunterkim. I was one of those who are wanting to work abroad when the opportunity comes. Things to consider would be your family, love ones and your country that you'd be leaving behind. But you should also consider YOURSELF even more. I have several friends who work abroad and some of them wanted to go home because they just couldn't take depression of being lonely. I can say that it's still different if you reside in your own country most especially here in the Philippines. If you're pursuing this endeavor, I suggest you look for friends who have the same ideas and thoughts of going abroad so you can go there together. This would not only help you with the expenses because you'll be sharing but you'll be able to fight loneliness, at least, a little bit. Most important thing you should consider if it's the Will of the Lord. Pray for Wisdom if He's leading you to that direction. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and give you signs, means and miracles of getting closer to that thought. Then you will know in your heart if it's for you. :)

I believe that wherever we are, God will still could be productive for as long as we have the skill and the diligence and the patience. I don't believe in going abroad just to find a living. I don't like families without father or mother just because they have to earn abroad while sacrificing togetherness and the fellowship with their family.

You can save money and you can give your family a good life if you are working abroad. We can't deny the fact that jobs here are not plenty as we think and the salary here is not enough to support a family. You need to be mentally prepared and be determine that you want to work abroad for your family.

Uhm, it will be practical if you have family and friends abroad.. it is very hard to take chances particularly if you don't know anyone who could help you out. you know, if i am just fit/healthy to work abroad, i would. i would go to new zealand or singapore and find a stable job there so i could help my family and my mom's side of the family.. i know they don't need fnancial help but i want to support them and give back what they have given me..

Hiii there
I dont think so it will be a good idea to go abroad for jobs. You can work online and make money in dollars.Another thing is now a days due to higher rates of immigration these countries are facing many problems and they have tightened their laws against immigration. Its becoming more and more difficult to migrate abroad.SO best way is stay here only and find different programs to work online and make money.

Well i cannot force you to believe that working here is still much better because of the crisis and the unemployment that is next to impossible to fix. But, what is the best thing that you know how to stop poverty in our own country? I think helping the country first before others is the best that you can do to stop the so called crisis. Many of the people go outside but it became much worst just as they thought they already escaped the crisis. It's just making the condition worse. Many of the best and intelligent individuals are also working outside the country and the average and the less intelligent left, then what will happen? Country will will not progress. Do you think it is better to help the country first? Remember, your family is here, you work there, they suffer here even if you will send dollars. If you believe that you are one of those best individuals that can help the country grow and develop, then why leave? Help the self first before anyone else. Anyway, it will still depend upon you but think first. Dollars coming from other country will not help that much. That belief is a wrong thinking. If all the best will left and will work here to be able to make the society progress then i guess the country will be much better or should i say can also stand chin up just like other rich countries right now. Have a great day.

I suppose it depends on where you are wanting to go. The financial crisis is affecting all countries and here in Spain the jobs and employment situation is worse than that in the UK. If you could find a job abroad before you left home then that would be no problem, but if you intend to just pack a bag and head out then you may find things a little bit difficult right now. Even low skilled work is on a low here as many bars and resturants are closing and have closed. Our holiday resprt town is unusually quiet and that includes the hotels too.

I think yes it is practical to work abroad. Our country gives very low wages to the skilled worker or even in professional worker. But government official received too much.Working abroad is the best and wise choice.

Working abroad is good if you already have an offer abroad before you leave your country...and if the offer you've got already has a fixed contract, say two years. If not, it's also challenging to find work abroad, because you'll have to compete with the citizens of that country, who are often more qualified than foreigners are.

I agree with the others who gave their opinions. You must consider the offer, the living conditions and the culture of the country you are heading to to work. It is hard to be away from families and friends. Adjusting can be quite difficult too especially if you are all alone in that country. And your family will miss you very much. But if you think that it is worth it to go, then go right ahead and be one of today's "bagong bayani".

hi hunterkim, hmmmm make sure you have a good job when you plan to work abroad,
I know someone who works abroad yet only earning 20K , you can earn that here in the philippines if you are hardworking enough.
When I was a fresh graduate, I already conditioned my mind that I work in the philippines because of experience, and look for oppurtunity abroad.
But I change my mind...but I dont know when oppurtunity comes might be or might not..

Personally I have no plan to work or live abroad. I am very contented with my life here and my job is okay so I never dreamed to work in a foreign land. Anyway, wherever I go I am carrying myself, and even if I work there and still my disposition and views in life did not change, then it's all the same, I will still not be contented and happy. So I decided to stick with my mother land after all this is the only country I can call HOME.

yeah, working abroad is a good idea, but how!! and it also depends on which country you choose and how about your ability.in my country, many gratuates out from univers also started making kind of these choices, but most of them have to face the reality that everything has two sides.if you were sent out by your school, that's good and that's a rare chance, but if you just hold your dream to make that step without any help from outside then i have to admit that it's a big challenge and you are very brave.

Yeah it's SO practical to work abroad! Espacially if you live particularly in PI! LOL! I myself can't wait to work abroad. Lets face it PI is extremely f*cked up! If sacrificing means leaving my family to work abroad and be able to give them my hard earned dollars/pounds/euros, then its all worth it. :D

I think going abroad to look for greener pastures for you and your family is a wise decision. You can look for a way to bring your family. Most immigrant applications now would allow your immediate family to travel together. So you dont have to miss them because you are together in the trip and in a new place.
