How much do you pay monthly for your web surfing needs. I am currently located here in the Philippines. My wife and I signed up for the 999 Pesos for the Smartbro connection. I noticed that it has become really sluggish as time passed by. It's $22-23 a month. It's not worth it, i think.
Back in Jersey, we used to have Verizon and tried RR/TWC.
How about you? Are you satisfied with your Internet Provider? Are you getting your money's worth?

Hi, melloncollie. We pay around, $42.00 a month for our basic cable. And we pay a total of over $90.00 for our digital phone and Road Runner services. That price that you are paying is very cheap. Does this service run slow or fast? I guess it feels like we are getting our money's worth. Our laptop connection acts up, but I think that it is coming from the computer's system and not the Internet Provider.

Yes it is cheap. $22 a month is something when we compare it to prices of connections in the US. But I guess, I would rather pay the same amount as you than get connection like this. We are still on the process of hunting for a better provide.
My laptop is not new. It's not old either.
How's your Road Runner connection by the way? I used to work for them. Do they still offer that crappy CAISS? The free security software? I do suggest you get yourself a different one. You'll notice errors popping up as time goes by. I simply don't recommend it. We had lots of issues regarding it. I just don't understand why TWC/Road Runner - still renews their contract with it.

We're paying about $75.00 per month for our internet service. Although it is very good and awfully fast, I do not believe it is worth $75.00 a month. I believe that our internet company has everyone by the balls and is squeezing everything they can out of them.
We have Comcast cable TV and internet service. The grand total for both is about $150.00 per month. My husband needs fast internet service for when he works from home so he wants the best. This is the best as far as speed and reliability goes but I really hate paying an arm and a leg for this service. If it were up to me, I'd switch to something that doesn't cost nearly as much but, of course, we'd pay for it with slower internet connection and probably more connection problems.
Internet providers are very much like all other utility companies, in my opinion. They know that you need them and take every advantage of you that they can get away with.

I think I'm probably the first Brit to respond to this discussion, so here goes:-
My hubby pays around £40 a month to British Telecom (who is the main provider in this country and owns all the telephone lines). This includes fast broadband speeds with unlimited downloads (as we are lucky enough to be near the exchange in our area), an internet phone that has free calls during the week (after 6pm) and the whole of the weekends. The only thing with that is that I have to make sure I don't go over an hour at a time, otherwise it's an arm and a leg in extra bills. I have only done this once, however as the time is counted down on the telephone's screen.
There are different providers other than BT. It all depends on what people want and how much they are prepared to pay.
We have a separate Sky Digital service for our television (with satellite dish) that costs around £38 a month. That includes Sky Sports. Hubby could save money if he did away with some of the other channels but he just hasn't got round to it.
Mum has Sky+ and pays only £21 a month as she has got rid of Sky Sports and Movies that are Premium Packages. She is with Talk Talk as opposed to British Telecom as regards her landline phone but is paying around £16 a month for this but is stuck with it for 18 months at least!
The reason we went with BT was that my husband has a Mac and I have a PC and the BT Home Hub was the only way we could go wireless at that time.
Fingers crossed, in the last 4 years or so we have never had any problems with either system. Hubby has had Sky Digital for years.
There is talk of everyone in the country having even faster broadband speeds but for extra cost. I think there will be uproar if the charges go up more.

I forgot to say that the £40 a month includes the landline telephone as well which we tend to use during the day.

I am also a smartbro user here in the Philippines paying the same amount of P999.00. PLDT dsl is much better but I have no choice because there is no line of pldt dsl in our place. As you say, sometimes the connection of smartbro is dizzy or lag.

I honestly dont know how much because my dad pays it lol. We did recently just switch to a cheaper provider however though. We use to get our home phone, cell phones, internet and satelitte all from the same provider but their service sucked so we are starting to switch to get better service and hopefully pay a lower price too.

I should be moving to Bulgaria then... LOLZ! It's really very hard to find a provider with a superb customer service nowadays.

At this point in time we are paying right at 113 dollars a month for both our digital cable and also our high speed internet access. That said, I am really happy with the access that we are able to get. We increased our monthly cost because we decided to get a DVR box so that we would be able to watch our television programs on demand and to me that really has been a great thing. As far as the internet connection goes, we've had service for nearly two years and I really have nothing to complain about as far as the service goes.

A lot of people are dissatisfied with Smartbro. But I know some people who claim that their connection is very fast. We use Globe Broadband here, 2MB. Prior to Ondoy, we never had any problems with it and it was super fast. Now, even though they claim that they have upgraded their system, we encountered so many problems that we were forced to report the matter to NTC. We were also forced to subscribe to Destiny during those days where there were no signals. We pay 999pesos also, and its pretty decent.

What are the requirements for your provider? Some provider considers location as a problem.

$25 bundled package is not bad. I get to pay $22 and that is just for this intermittent connection of mine.

Now I am presently paying INR1000 that is $22 for a 256kbps unlimited connection. It is pretty worth for what I am paying. Though the speed is slow you get excellent customer support and they do not have any downtime. Also it is dynamic ip which is a feature I like very much.

Don't you get any problems using dynamic ip? Some sites require static? Don't you get problems loading those pages when your connection refreshes for a dynamic ip?

We pay 25 Leva (about 12 Euro) for a wired 30 Mbps unlimited connection from Lulin-Net. It's not the biggest Internet operator in Bulgaria, but their service is pretty good and they have almost no downtime. It's worth the money in my opinion.

Last month I pay 5 dollar for dial-up connection from Smart Telecom. 153 kbps...
It was the cheapest subscription I have met on that day, but it's overloaded to often, so it's very slow on peak time. I don't satisfied at all.
But now I tried my internet connection for free. It is slow either, but more stable. And the best thing is... I don't loose anything at all...
Happy mylotting....

we are using smart bro prepaid kit.. we bought the kit for 995pesos with 100pesos free load... we are loading it with 200pesos to avail with smart unlisurf for 5 days..so maybe we will spend about 800pesos a month...
for us, it is worth it because compare to internet cafes we can spend 15-20 pesos per hour so for 5days, 24hours a day, we can spend about 1800-2400..so we prefer smart bro...

I pay 799 pesos a month for my internet connection. It is wired globe broadband 1mbps. Imagine for almost 8 hundred it is wired not a wireless connection. So far no troubles I have encountered instead my pc was reformatted. I'm here in Cavite I do not know if in other areas could cost the same.
