Why do you think some of the best brains do not live in their own countries. Is it because it is not safe to do so? Or is it because the society they live in has become too small? Or what?

I believe this is just happening only to those who are living in a third world country like ours, the Philippines. This is one of the biggest problem our government is facing at present. Those people who have graduated from college and have excelled academically, meaning with honors, and also became board passers...tend to leave the country to work abroad and later established their career from that particular foreign land. I guess all of them will agree with one reason; they need to step away from the POVERTY that our country were experiencing in order for them to have a chance to live a much better lives rather that staying here without any assurance to move further with a good life. My main point why people in general wanted to leave is POVERTY. And to mention of having a very corrupt government like ours....NO HOPE AT ALL! Happy posting my friend!

Hi sirerba I appreciate very much your thought and sharing. Escaping from poverty seems to be one of the intense reasons for the flee from third world countries. Escaping from a corrupt government is obviously another reason to. Thanks and have a great day ahead! Happy posting too my friend!

Do you think this is happening in just third world countries or is it a global phenomenon? Thanks a lot!!!

I think that migration has happened over the centuries. For example skilled migrants go from my home country to live in Australia. Then they can enjoy a better standard of living and time outdoors. They can enjoy the warmer weather. Some people migrate to New Zealand so they can have more space to enjoy life in. It is a beautiful country with a pleasant lifestyle. In skilled migration the clever and successful people migrate to a different country. They have a clever brain and take their knowledge to another country. In Eastern Europe when the iron curtain came down some of the people moved to my home country and other places in Western Europe. For example I heard Poland is short of firemen because lots of them have migrated to Britain. Some very intelligent people have escaped poverty in Africa and have become economic migrants to Europe. Sometimes people have to run from their country. For example they might suffering a dangerous situation in their home country.

So it's a global phenomenon after all. And not just in third world countries. We have people migrating from one place to another for so many reasons. Your response has provided an insight into the reasons for migration in the developed countries. If I were to compare the reasons for the brain drain in both the third world and the developed nations there are similarities and differences as well. Thank you so much for your response maximax8. Have a nice day ahead!!! :)

In our country, brain drain is very much true because most of us believes that we are not given enough opportunities here. Since in other countries we get higher earnings than in our own country, we tend to go abroad rather than staying here because we have families to raise.

There are several reasons, one is that the country does not recognise their talent so they seek opportunities in other countries, 2nd the salary is low compare to their qualification therefore they left their country to work in other country, 3rd is bad public infrastructure (transportation eetc), 4th they just wanna seek more challenge and experience in other country :D

Hi lightknight! Obviously most people would stay in their own countries. A few would actually move out but if these few are the professionals I think it's going to cost the country a lot in the long run. Thanks for sharing.

Yes pabreen. Got your points here. They have every right to do so. And I don't think there is any one country which has successfully managed this problem. Thanks so much for sharing! Have a nice day ahead! :)

Their is a brain drain in one's country because these professionals and skilled people are not satisfied with the remuneration given to them. So as a result they leave their present job and seek better opportunities because they believe that they deserve a better life, a better job and a bright future.

some of them look for a greener pasture outside their countries that their own counties could not give. some or most of them think about their families future, not theirs.

Best brains deserves greener pasture but unfortunately our Country can not offer that to those people. I guess the idea of patriotism vanishes when you see your family getting hungry while you are working too hard and not being paid great that you deserve to.
