We can blame poverty to the corrupt politicians who the only thing they were after of is to line their pockets with the peoples money. They wanted to fatten their wallet and don't care if the citizens were already screaming for help. They are the kind of public servants who's main goals is to make themselves rich in expense of peoples tax money. We can also blame poverty to the people itself. To those who never had any dreams to fight poverty. To those who were plain lazy and don't strive to make changes with in themselves. To those who marry too early and don't have enough money to sustain their children needs and just slave of lust and wrong decisions.

Iane, theres poverty because our leaders are corrupt. :) Thats the answer! :) Rich becomes more richer while poor people become dirt cheap poorer.

This is my opinion: No matter whom we vote as our next leaders, poverty will always be there unless we change how we think about poverty. Poverty is the result of what people do in their lives. There are people who haven't finished their schooling and yet they have defied poverty and there are those on the opposite end; who finished their college and yet they are stricken with poverty. I would like you to read Jose Garcia Villa's Footnote to Youth. The message there is the cycle will continue unless one says enough. If a person brought up in poverty has no intention of getting out of it then he will be in poverty. I know that they do not want to be poor for the rest of their lives we cannot blame them of being so. Diligence and Perseverance may be the key but without the Opportunity, which is the foundation of wealth and the key of getting out of poverty then all efforts are useless. I guess the question should be asked by anyone is "what are the opportunities out there?" Happy myLotting! :)

Corruption in the government is the top cause of poverty in our country, considering that we have P1.514-trillion national budget for 2010, that's a lot of money for national development if all the amount were used properly. It is a public knowledge that the reason why so many people would want to have a place in the government is because of the pork barrel which we are not sure if all have been used for the development of each city, province or municipalities. A big percent of these pork barrels are being pocketed by the officials. I can't seem to understand why these official get rich and can own too many properties if they are earning only what is stated in our Constitution.

i think to solve this problem, our future leaders should create many jobs. if all or most filipinos are given job, poverty, crime and economic problems of our country will be lessen.

That should be the priority of our leaders in this country. It is obvious that our leaders, for the past many decades, had been barking up the wrong tree, having projects here and there that did not improve our economy, wasting people's money on projects that only pushed us deeper into the pit of poverty.

the solution for this is for people to vote wisely. choose a leader who is capable of finding ways to alleviate poverty. we also have to do our part by being responsible and hardworking citizens.
