Hey, I'm new to this too. I don't know about you but I'm finding it all quite addictive.
I'm still finding my way around the site. Like you I've posted my first discussion. The only thing I can't work out is how to attract people to those discussions. I'm not even sure if anyone else has seen them.
So here I am searching through the new user posts in the hope that others are doing the same.

There are many things to written. Like daily life, lifestyle, etc., but maybe you must read discussion guidelines first. I am newbie too.
